Animal Webaction visited the site 02 August 2019 and confirms the situation described below.

In Morocco, this shelter no longer has any food for its 119 dogs, they will starve to death!

Hanane begs us to help her, she no longer has any kibble for her 119 dogs.

We were at the shelter on August 2nd.

Hanane can no longer pay the rent, nor the employees, she can't buy kibble!

Without a grant, she is helpless and will not be able to continue without support.

We want to send 2000 kg of kibble as a matter of urgency

The Moroccan kibble carrier will close in a few days for its annual leave, which leaves very little time for a successful collection.

100% transparency guaranteed

1. Several dogs died, and now the kibble stock is all used up... What will happen to the survivors?

$$$
"We didn't even have time to give a name to this poor baby that he had already given up his life," Hanane tells us. Found in critical condition near the shelter, he succumbed to the disease a few days later

$$$
Tommy had been receiving treatment for several months with a tumour, but his body stopped responding to it: Tommy died in April

$$$
Elderly, Zitouna gradually weakened, losing the use of her hind legs, before suddenly dying out a few weeks ago

###
With a tumor, Linda is currently undergoing chemotherapy: she needs kibbles to overcome the disease

###
Pokito suffers from a chronic liver disease, causing many digestive problems. Without an adequate diet, its condition is likely to deteriorate very quickly

###
Koki is only a month and a half old, and is still very fragile... Because it was impossible for her to buy puppy food, Hanane has given him adult food so far, but she doesn't have any anymore!

###
Snoopy's health has gradually deteriorated in recent weeks. Old and having suffered from an ear tumor, he has lost weight and will not be able to fight without kibble

Hanane dedicates her shelter to dogs that would have no chance of surviving on the street: sick, disabled, or wounded, all are particularly vulnerable.

They are not strong enough to overcome a period of famine!

2. We were at the shelter on August 2nd, there were only 2 days left of kibbles, everything is now used up

###
120 kg of dry dog food remained at the shelter during our visit on August 2

###
119 dogs are hosted at the shelter, at least 50 kg of kibbles are needed every day to feed them to their hunger

###
Our agent Abdessamad met Hanane, who is at the end of her rope: "We have to pay the rent, the workers, the gas of the car, the veterinary, the medicine, and a lot of other expenses; we’re just out of money" she explained, crying

Last April, the Animal Webaction community got together to send 4000 kg of dry food to the shelter for dogs who were only eating dry bread at the time.

But summer in Morocco is very difficult for street dogs, and rescues have been numerous since then, the shelter has gone from 50 to 119 dogs in just a few weeks! The kibbles are now used up, and Hanane can't buy any more.

3. Hanane can't pay the rent or the employees, she can't buy kibble!

###
With 119 dogs at the shelter, 50kg of kibbles must be distributed every day, Hanane does not have the resources to buy them alone

"Recently I haven’t been able to find financial means to pay the rent and the workers. We have to pay the rent, the workers, the gas of the car, the veterinary, the medicine, and a lot of other expenses; we’re just out of money." she explained, in tears, during our visit.

" I cannot manage to pay myself because I cannot afford to. With all the expenses we already have, if we include food expenses, we’re going to be broke and will probably unwillingly stop fighting for this cause."

4. Street dogs are in great distress, what will happen to them if the shelter closes its doors?

Rescued following an accident, poisoning, or simply to protect them from slaughter and euthanasia, street dogs need the shelter to keep on existing!

###
When she became blind, Yuskia was abandoned by her former owner and left to her own devices. Rescued 1 month ago by Hanane, she couldn't have survived on the streets alone

###
On the verge of being euthanized at the pound, Volka was taken to the shelter with 6 other dogs in the same case, 1 month ago

###
Sentenced to death like Volka, Hira was also suffering from a torn ear for which she had received no care when she arrived

5. If we don't reach the target, dogs won't receive any food

A failed collection on Animal Webaction

We can take action, we have already booked a truck and pallets, but we have to pay it before August 07.

If the collection fails, we will not be able to pay, the departure of the truck will be cancelled and none of the collected kibbles will be delivered...

If the collection fails, we will refund all donors.

6. The shelter no longer receives any subsidies, and is unable to establish any new partnership

For 3 years, Hanane's shelter benefited from a municipal grant, which allowed it to operate.

But the subsidy contract, established for 3 years, ended in 2018 and could not be renewed because of a lack of budget at the town hall: "That’s why we’re having difficulties covering all expenses. We’re still looking for other partnerships."

Since then, Hanane has only received occasional help from a small Belgian association, precious but derisory in view of the expenses incurred at the shelter.

7. Tensions with the neighbourhood are very high, Hanane is oppressed from all parts

Inconvenienced by the dogs, some neighbours are very hostile towards the shelter, and never stop threatening Hanane

Hanane's top priority is to find a solution so that dogs don't end up on the street, she doesn't have time to find kibbles

Inconvenienced by the presence of dogs, a resident close to the shelter is trying to scare Hanane away by any means possible, and has filed several complaints.

Whatever the outcome of the conflict from a legal point of view, Hanane fears for her dogs, and is totally seized by this situation. And may have to move again if it doesn't improve....

8. We want to help them at all costs

###
Simba was the victim of an accident and had to have one of his front legs amputated, but Hanane has always been able to take care for him since then

###
Abandoned in a public park when he was still a puppy, Foksi was starving and dying of thirst before being taken to the shelter, where he has been living since

###
Diana was 3 months old when she was found, left to her own devices. Too young to manage on her own, she was taken to the shelter

###
Wandering and suffering from advanced scabies, Max was rescued by Hanane. If his body has managed to heal, Max remains highly traumatized by his past life, and presents a panic fear of Man

###
Found dying of hunger in a public park, Nikita has been living at the shelter for 4 years now

###
Clara is one of the oldest residents of the shelter: at 15 years old, she is particularly vulnerable

###
Thrown out in front of the shelter last spring, Roki was abandoned because he had become old and unwanted...

###
Abused and abandoned, Sam now lives on only three legs, and would have no chance of surviving on the street

9. Despite all the difficulties, Hanane watches over her protégés at all costs and keeps hope alive

###
Hanane offers unlimited love to her rescued dogs

Hanane is a force of nature: although she has very little support, she continues to hope and do her best to bring the best to the dogs in the shelter, even if it means cutting herself off from her loved ones: "Even my family and friends tell me that they cannot come and see me unless I take my dogs out. You can see my house ( ed : it’s all full of dogs and cats)

If she accepts the sacrifices, she remains revolted not to receive more support in her struggle: "There should be some kind of a solution. The government should help these kind of shelters, so dogs and cats live peacefully. They should be saved from dying and suffering in streets"

"I have a lot of handicapped and blind dogs that I take care of, and I would like more support and help, so I can keep doing this. Dog’s food is going to put off a great burden upon my shoulders and will help me provide a better life to these dogs."

10. Rejected and slaughtered, Moroccan street dogs live on probation

Petitions follow one another to ask the authorities to put an end to the slaughterings carried out throughout the country, in vain

With an estimated population of around 2 million street dogs, Morocco has been carrying out mass slaughter operations at regular intervals for decades.

Dogs are poisoned with strychnine, or shot with a gun, usually in the spring: before the arrival of tourists, or any other important international event.

However, spaying programmes have already been carried out in some Moroccan cities: unfortunately, they have so far always been abandoned, as their fruits take too long to bear fruit.

11. What will the 2000 kg of kibble collected be used for ?

This collection is organized by the association AHPPAE. The 2000 kg of kibbles collected will be delivered to Hanane to feed the 119 dogs for which the association is responsible.
