Animal Webaction visited the site 13 September 2019 and confirms the situation described below.

In Romania, this shelter no longer has any kibble for its 70 dogs, they will starve to death !

Roxana asks us to help her: she has no more kibbles, her SOSs don't work.

We were at the shelter on September 13.

In two months, the shelter rescued no less than 20 dogs.

Roxana and her husband are alone at the shelter, where they spend all their time.

They have limited resources, their few supporters can't do more.

We want to help them by sending 1800 kg of kibble as an emergency.

100% transparency guaranteed.

1. Hunedoara's dogs need Roxana, but she doesn't have any more kibbles to feed them!

Discovered in the woods, these six puppies and their mother were taken to the shelter at the end of September. Two of them unfortunately died a few days later, Roxana does her best for the survivors

Rescued in August, Codrut showed various signs of illness: various tests and treatments were needed to help him

Abused and barely fed, Loretta was taken into the shelter at the end of August. Emaciated, she is still weakened

Charlie was found wandering and in poor condition at the beginning of September, and has since been treated and sterilized

"I still have 3 bags and 15 small cans of wet food" Roxana told us on September 26th

Over the past two months, 20 new dogs have been rescued by Roxana and taken to the shelter: a very large number, bringing the total number of dogs taken in to 70.

But Roxana has been struggling to find kibble for several months: "We are limited in our activity by the lack of adoptions and because we're overwhelmed physically and finacially" she said last July.

Again, the shelter is almost out of food, and Roxana doesn't know how to get out of it.

2. Roxana has been calling for help for months, but her SOSs are not working

For several months, Roxana has been sending calls for help, both on social networks and in her physical network, to get out of this difficult situation. But this has little effect.

While Roxana and her husband have done their best to prevent the dogs from having no food so far, this situation is no longer tenable for them: "Roxana is worried for the food stock and fears for unpredicted medical problems for the dogs which requires medicine/treatment" explained our agent Catalina.

3. We have met the 70 dogs from the shelter, we want to help them

###
On September 13th, our agent Catalina went to visit Roxana's shelter

###
On the spot, we met the 70 dogs currently hosted, all of whom depend on the food brought by Roxana

###
Severely abused, Alba had to be operated on to treat a spinal injury as a result of the blows she had received

###
At 15 years of age, Mosu is one of the oldest residents of the shelter. Rescued from the euthanasia that awaited him at the pound, he has been at the shelter for a little over a year now

###
Like many others at the shelter, Cream was taken in urgently to avoid being euthanized in the pound

###
Abandoned with his brothers and sisters when he was only a few weeks old, Arthur found help in the hands of Roxana. He is only three months old

###
Negrutu was condemned at the pound, Roxana gave him a new life at the shelter, where he has been living for 3 years

###
Rescued from the pound, Bello has only been at the shelter for 3 months. Suffering from a broken leg that had not been treated, Bello underwent surgery and is recovering

###
Arthur's brother, Micha was also very young when he was found. His young age makes him more vulnerable to malnutrition

###
Xena was suffering from a hernia when she was rescued, and has since undergone surgery. She's been at the shelter for 6 months

###
Very weakened, Alfonso was impounded before being rescued by the shelter

###
Woody was rescued in extremis, before being euthanized at the municipal pound

###
Abandoned near a shopping mall, Mihaitza was infested with parasites and had skin problems. He's only been at the shelter since this summer.

4. If we don't reach the target, dogs won't receive any food

A failed collection on Animal Webaction

We can take action, we have already booked a truck and pallets, but we have to pay it before October 4th.

If the collection fails, we will not be able to pay, the departure of the truck will be cancelled and none of the collected kibbles will be delivered...

If the collection fails, we will refund all donors.

5. On her own with her husband to take care of the shelter, Roxana is exhausted, and scared by the lack of kibble

###
At the shelter on a daily basis, Roxana takes care of the 70 dogs, the maintenance of the shelter, but also all the other aspects: search for sponsors, new rescues, adoptions, spaying / neutering campaigns...

###
"There are often moments of panic, especially when the food is almost finished" she explained

###
Roxana's husband, Octavian, shares with her the daily tasks at the shelter, and the moments of anguish

At the shelter every day, Roxana and her husband invest most of their time and energy with the dogs. To make ends meet, they carry out assignments as freelancers, on which they can work at flexible times.

During our visit, Roxana said she was tired, both of the daily workload and of the anguish of not being able to provide for the dogs: "The difficulties we face are handled the best way we can. There are often moments of panic, especially when the food is almost finished" she said.

6. Following the closing of several nearby pounds this summer, Roxana keeps on acting to save dogs from euthanasia

This summer, a decision was taken to close several pounds in the region, condemning hundreds of dogs to death... Several NGOs have mobilized to save as much as possible. The fight continues, as the remaining pounds continue to practice euthanasia

During the summer, several pounds in the area had to close their doors. To avoid the hasty euthanasia of their residents, multiple NGOs from Romania and abroad intervened, and joined forces to save as many as possible.

Thanks to their intervention, hundreds of dogs were able to escape euthanasia, and are now in shelters or already adopted for the most lucky ones.

Today, only a few pounds remain active in the region, and still practice euthanasia: Roxana is one of those who are mobilizing to try to prevent as many as possible.

7. Her supporters cannot do more, and join Roxana in asking for our help

Roxana receives the support of some charities to carry out spaying and neutering campaigns, promote adoptions, or even contribute to the costs, but none can meet the increasing expenses of the shelter

Roxana benefits from the precious support of several charities, thanks to which she can carry out spaying and neutering campaigns, carry out more adoptions, or even finance heavy surgical procedures if necessary.

But none of them have the resources to cover ongoing expenses such as food, and are also struggling to cope with the growing number of dogs. The association Animal Heaven, which is currently the only one to intervene on an occasional basis to buy kibble, also asks us to help Roxana to continue her actions.

8. Roxana fights tooth and nail for abandoned dogs

###

While Roxana's love for animals has always existed, her dedication only really began in 2013, when the authorities legally established the euthanasia of street dogs.

Very quickly, her help grew to a great extent, and Roxana now intervenes throughout the region, whether for rescues or spay-and-neuter operations. Spaying as much as possible, and limiting abandonment to a minimum, are the only solutions for her to solve the problem of street dogs.

Despite the difficulties, Roxana remains optimistic, and is convinced that everyone's mobilization contributes to the fact that things are improving: "Get involved! Don’t be indifferent and be aware that your efforts, small or big, are having a huge impact over the shelter and the dogs’ life at the shelter."

9. The plight of stray dogs in Romania

Roxana's shelter is located in the western central part of Romania

10. Through our logistics centre in Romania, we can operate rapidly!

Animal Webaction dry dog food leaving our logistics centre in Romania

If the collection succeeds, the food will leave directly from our logistics centre in Romania. So we can act very quickly, let's help Roxana and her 70 dogs to have kibbles!

11. What will the 1800 kilos of kibble collected be used for?

This collection is organized by the association Bobitza'Ark, chaired by Roxana. The 1800 kg of kibble collected will be delivered to Roxana to feed the 70 dogs in the shelter.
