Animal Webaction visited the site 24 October 2019 and confirms the situation described below.

In Romania, this shelter no longer has kibbles for its 250 dogs, they will starve to death!

Diseases, cold and abandonments that keep increasing make this time a very hard one for abandonned dogs, several have already died.

Alina and Anda buy kibbles bit by bit, praying every day to be able to get some again the next one...

The situation is hanging by a thread, Alina and Anda beg us to intervene.

We were on site on October 24th, the shelter is overcrowded.

We want to help them, by sending 4200 kg of kibble as an emergency.

100% transparency guaranteed

1. The kibble stock is empty, the season is very difficult for abandoned dogs: several have already died

$$$
Abandoned a few days ago near the shelter, this dog was discovered while it was already too late: she had been attacked by other dogs, and did not have enough strength to survive her injuries

$$$
Lucky was found on the roadside at the end of September and suffered serious injuries.... Despite extensive veterinary care, he did not survive

$$$
Discovered with dozens of other animals in a slum, Jack had contracted parvovirus, a virulent disease to which he succumbed this fall

$$$
Too weak to fight the disease, Yamie died a short time ago

With ever-increasing abandonments, weather conditions becoming more and more difficult, and diseases developing further, this time is particularly difficult to live through and dangerous for dogs.

Alina and Anda are doing their best to help the street dogs, and protect the shelter dogs as best they can, but they are powerless without kibbles.

2. For weeks, Alina and Anda have been doing their best to make ends meet, but they no longer have anything to buy kibble

###
The kibble stock sent by the Animal Webaction community last august has been used up for several weeks, Alina and Anda cannot renew it. They hope every day to be able to buy a few bags for the next one, but it is getting harder and harder....

Calls for donations are regularly posted on social networks, but often remain unanswered

From France, Alina and Anda are supported by Sabine, who is also struggling to find food. But the situation is getting bogged down and they all fear for the coming weeks

Last August, the Animal Webaction community got together to send 4800 kg of kibble to the shelter, but the last bags were eaten almost three weeks ago.

Since then, Alina and Anda have been trying to make ends meet, and have also been appealing for donations. But this only allows them to buy a few bags bit by bit, and places the entire shelter in a very precarious state.

On October 31, Alina told us that she had enough food left to feed the dogs for the same day, and that she had enough to buy kibbles only for the next one...

3. The abandonments are relentless, Alina and Anda are trying to help the greatest number of dogs, but the pace is infernal

###
"Unfortunely, in the last period of time, people started abandoning more and more dogs, especially puppies. This is how we end up to have 250 dogs, whith around 40 puppies at the moment" Alina explained to us

###
Rescued about a month ago, Caramel is now one of the only survivors of his siblings

###
Pollie, was only two and a half months old when she was found, wandering in a nearby village. She is still suffering from a skin disease, and is still under treatment

###
Abandoned near the shelter with her three brothers and sisters, Alaska would not have had a chance of survival had she not been discovered quickly

###
Kimmie was living in a slum in very poor conditions, with dozens of other animals when she was discovered. Several other dogs rescued at the same time passed away due to disease

At the shelter, Alina and Anda currently house 250 dogs, about 40 more than the maximum capacity they can theoretically manage. "Unfortunely, in the last period of time, people started abandoning more and more dogs, especially puppies. This is how we end up to have 250 dogs, whith around 40 puppies at the moment" Alina explained.

"All these new puppies and adult dogs, mean more neuters, more vaccinations. More visits to the vets, some have problems. We also had some puppies that were sick of Parvo and that died" she also regrets.

4. With winter approaching, kibble deliveries will soon be made impossible at the shelter, Alina and Anda don't know how they can manage without any food stock!

Each winter, the shelter spends several days covered by a thick blanket of snow. Located in a remote area, difficult to access even with good weather conditions, the shelter then becomes an inaccessible place, where no more deliveries can occur

"The most harsh time of the year is the winter, from December until March. Usually, we get stuck inside the shelter because the snow blocks the access. Last year we were stuck 2 weeks." Anda explained to us during our visit

5. If we don't reach the target, dogs won't receive anything

A failed collection on Animal Webaction

We can take action, we have already booked a truck and pallets, but we have to pay it before November 6th.

If the collection fails, we will not be able to pay, the departure of the truck will be cancelled and none of the collected kibbles will be delivered...

If the collection fails, we will refund all donors.

6. The shelter is already burdened with debt, Alina and Anda have no resources left in stock to buy kibbles

###
Due to a lack of resources, resourcefulness is the key word at the shelter.... Alina and Anda wanted to build new pens before winter to improve the conditions in which dogs are kept, but they were barely able to set up fenced spaces, which provide very little protection in winter

###
Because not all dogs can be protected from rain, wind and snow, Alina and Anda have stored straw to keep them warm as much as possible

On October 31st, Alina sent us a picture of this young dog, suffering from a serious pathology. She still does not know how her veterinary costs will get to be paid for : two veterinarians have already stopped helping the shelter, facing thousands of euros in debt...

7. We want to help them

###
After being hit by a car, Mona remained paralyzed for several months and is just beginning to walk again

###
Wandering near a hospital, Maya had given birth in the street, and was trying to protect her babies. Threatened by several locals, she was reported to the shelter by a good soul who wanted to protect her from impoundment

###
Born on the street, Paloma is the only one of Maya's puppies that could be found and rescued during the intervention

###
Found suffering from injuries to his leg and eye, Eclair is now 15 years old, and is more vulnerable

###
Threatened by dog catchers who wanted to catch him and impound him, Miracle was rescued and taken to the shelter in time

###
Discovered while she was wandering the streets, Gesti was pregnant, and would have given birth to several puppies without being able to protect them if the shelter had not intervened to take her in and neuter her

###
Homer was found with many injuries, some of which were serious, obviously inflicted by other dogs. His wounds may have healed, but Homer must always be kept away from the other dogs

###
Seen by one of the shelter's employees, Nalla wandered along the roadside, unaware of the risks of accidents to which she was exposed

8. Alina and Anda dedicate their lives to abandoned dogs

###
"We feel alright, but we hope for better" Anda said during our visit. Despite the difficulties encountered, the contact with the dogs still amazes her as much as ever

For years, Alina and Anda have dedicated themselves body and soul to the care of abandoned dogs.

Anda passed on her passion for animals to her daughter Alina. They both manage the shelter, perform daily rescues, care for the animals and promote them for adoption so that they can find a loving family far from the miserable life they have lived until now...

When she is not at the shelter, Alina continues her veterinary studies, hoping one day to find an even greater solution to the problem of street dogs: "Even though we try to make free spay and neuter campaigns, people just don't want to understand that this is the best and more humane solution for the situation in Romania. And I can't wait to finish the vet school to start spaying every dog around, as much as possible "
