1. Daniela's shelter is the only one within a 100km radius: day after day, it is the only hope for these suffering dogs
Rachitic and with many injuries when she was found, Hanny did not have the strength to fight for more than a few days, despite the care provided by Daniela and the veterinarian. She died on April 12th
With several wounds and the obvious signs of tetanus in its most advanced phase, this dog was immediately taken to the vet by Daniela: he died there on the night of April 20th, before he could even be named
Wandering, Sasha was hit by a car while she was still pregnant: she lost one of her paws in the accident, but was taken care of in time by Daniela to give birth at the shelter. She and her 5 puppies now live there
Falco, a victim of abuse, was rescued by Daniela on April 21st. He is still under treatment and is currently keeping after-effects on one of his eyes

With a shelter of 500 dogs, it is very difficult for her to continue her rescues, but she is constantly called by the locals when they see a wounded or abandoned dog: "I can't let them die in indifference" she tells us.
2. We were at the shelter on May 3rd, there is no more kibble for its 500 dogs! Local media reported their calls for help, but to no avail...
StirileTVR, a local television station in Craiova County, intervened on April 19th at Daniela's shelter, to help her make her situation known... But only a few isolated donations were generated by this action following the diffusion
Our agent Paul went to the shelter on May 3rd, almost 3 weeks after the report was broadcasted. He met Daniela, who is still under stress from the lack of kibble, and Costi, the only volunteer who is committed to the shelter
During his visit, Paul photographed the stock of kibble remaining at the shelter: only 7 bags, or 70 kg of kibble, to feed 500 dogs...
It is now impossible for Daniela to guarantee that the bowls can be filled on a daily basis, finding kibbles is a daily struggle...
At the beginning of February, the Animal Webaction community mobilized to help Daniela's shelter, and sent 3600 kg of kibbles, an infinitely precious help for all of them.
But the stock has already been used up for two months, and Daniela can no longer cover the food needs of the 500 dogs hosted. During our visit on May 3rd, there were less than 10 bags of kibble left:
"We are trying with enormous and desperate efforts to manage from one day to the next, but we can not deceive the trust of the hundreds of animals we have in our care."
3. Daniela has tried everything: searching for partnerships, online collections, calls for help... She doesn't what to do anymore
At the end of March, a few individuals supporting Daniela tried to organize an online food appeal, but unfortunately it didn't bring much
A similar collection was organised on a crowdfunding platform: it proved to be a little more fruitful, but in 3 months time it only brought a paltry sum compared to the needs for kibble only: every day, 250 kg are needed...
Despite the daily workload at the shelter, Daniela has been moving heaven and earth for months to open up new perspectives at the shelter, and to be able to get more kibble.
Her calls for help have very little impact, her online collections are not working, and no new sponsors or partners have so far been found among the associations approached to get food...
Far from everything, Daniela does her best to make her shelter and its needs known, but it's not enough!
4. More than 500 of them wait to be fed every day: we must help them!
Brought to Daniela when he was barely 2 months old, Iubitu had serious injuries to his hind legs, which were caused by gangrene. Amputation was the only option to allow him to survive, and Iubitu now manages to walk almost normally
Found wandering in a nearby village, baby suffers from tongue cancer. Undergoing chemotherapy, he is extremely fragile...
Tony is an elderly dog whose physical condition is precarious.... Affected by mange, he is also very thin, and seems to have trouble getting better
Nini was rescued by Daniela after being hit by a car, but he is still suffering from after-effects on some of his limbs
Unable to walk when he was found, Paco recovered and can now move on his own in the shelter. However, his health remains fragile, and he is currently fighting against advanced mange
After being hit by a car, Enzo had his spine severed: operated on, he remains paralysed for the time being. Right now, Daniela doesn't have the resources to buy him a cart
Daniela agreed to gather Oscar, who was found wandering in a nearby village, but did not know what he had experienced before that. He has skin conditions and looks older than he actually is (its actual age is estimated at 7 years), probably due to the deprivations suffered in his past
Coco was abandoned by his owners because he was doing too much damage to their house: Daniela agreed to take him to the shelter. He suffers from mange that has invaded the entire lower part of his body
Danny has been in the shelter for several years now and suffers from deformities in both front legs, which cannot be improved or fixed
5. If we don't reach the target, dogs won't receive any food

We can come into action, we have already booked a truck and pallets, but we have to pay it before May 19th.
If the collection fails, we will not be able to pay, the departure of the truck will be cancelled and none of the collected kibbles will be delivered...

6. At the shelter from 7am to 11pm, every day and on a voluntary basis: Daniela can't work to buy kibble
Despite the difficulties, Daniela keeps smiling when she takes care of her protégés... but when we talk to her, her smile vanishes and gives way to worry
Since the creation of the association in 2016, Daniela has devoted all her days to the association's dogs. Up at 6am, she takes care of them until 11pm: her only outings are dedicated to visits to the vets and new rescues, it is impossible for her to work!
All her savings having already been used, Daniela only relies on the money sent by her husband (who works in Germany), and the meagre retirement pension received by her mother to support themselves and the 500 dogs...
7. The shelter is overcrowded, Daniela hosts nearly 150 dogs on her own property! The neighbors have filed a complaint, she urgently needs to build new pens
At the shelter, each pen accommodates about thirty dogs, gathered in packs. As it stands, it is impossible for Daniela to place weak or sick dogs there: they would not survive....
During our visit, we also went to Daniela's home: in the courtyard and inside, it was not easy to move as there were so many dogs...
Daniela has already gone into debt for 500 € to buy the necessary equipment to build two new enclosures at the shelter... to allow her to host some of the dogs currently in her home there
Daniela lives in her mother's house with her, and now nearly 150 dogs... A situation that is difficult for both of them to manage on a daily basis, which for the moment represents the only solution: the shelter is overcrowded, the safety of the dogs cannot be guaranteed if the numbers increase....
The shelter still has a lot of land, but it is not fenced in: new pens are needed to place more dogs. An unimaginable expense for Daniela who already struggles to feed them...
But Daniela no longer has a choice: bothered by all the dogs at her place, the neighbours have filed a complaint, it is urgent to regularize the situation!
8. Without any regular help from other associations, Daniela is desperate
With the help of a few friends, Daniela has been desperately trying for months to set up partnerships with other associations, in order to be able to cope with the expenses generated by the shelter, and to maximize adoptions.
To date, only a partnership for new adoptions has been set up: a valuable help, but one that does not solve the kibble problem at all...
9. To save the Romanian dogs, Daniela left her work, her comfort and her husband

Daniela now lives in her mother's house with her mother, while her husband lives and works in Germany. It is unthinkable for Daniela to join him, because it would be like abandoning the animals in their distress in Romania:
"Animals represent my whole life. Humans can manage on their own, but these animals need me to survive."
Former cleaning lady, having spent 15 years in Italy with a comfortable lifestyle, she now devotes her days to the shelter, from 7am to 11pm at the very least. She regrets that her involvement implies a certain marginalization on the part of people who do not understand her way of life, including many of her friends.
Despite these difficulties, Daniela does not regret her decisions: "If I had to do it again, I would do it again without hesitation"
10. What will the 4200 kg collected be used for ?
This collection is organized by the association Mariuta. The 4200 kg of kibble collected will be delivered to Daniela to feed the 500 dogs hosted at the shelter as well as on her property.
