Animal Webaction
This campaign has failed... SOS for 70 dogs in Serbia hasn't received anything. Why?

It is always a huge disappointment to see a campaign fail, it means that the concerned animals will not receive any help. Unfortunately, we can not ship incomplete campaigns.

When a campaign fails, why can't you at least deliver what has been collected ?

We want to maximize the help we are all bringing to the animals in distress. Our campaign goals are calculated to balance our storage, delivery and manufacturing costs of the offered products.

Delivering failed campaigns would generate too many costs, which would eventually lead to the bankruptcy of the website and leave all the animals that we could have helped alone...

The delivery of unfinished campaigns is also physically impossible for some products (if only 50% of a kennel is financed: we can not cut it in half).

Why can't you at least transfer the collected money to the association ?

Our activity is regulated by the french tax law, it forbides us to transfer money instead of the advertised product (article L 548-1 of the Monetary and Financial Code).

For this reason, when a campaign fails, donations are immediately refunded. If they want to, donors can send this money directly to the association.

If you can't transfer the collected money to the association, why don't you just send it to another one ?

Our activity is regulated by the french tax law, it forbides us to use the money for anything else than the original use announced in the campaign (article L 548-1).

So, unfortunately, we are not allowed to transfer donations from a campaign to another.

What happens to the free clicks assigned to a failed campaign?

Free clicks are saved before being reallocated to other campaigns (free clicks being immaterial, they are not submited to the same obligations than financial donations).

Animal Webaction visited the site 11 October 2019 and confirms the situation described below.

In Serbia, this shelter has no more kibbles to feeds its 70 dogs !

Following an SOS from Natasa, we were on site on October 11th.

During our visit, there were already no kibbles left at the shelter.

Natasa has rescued many dogs in appalling conditions in recent months, who will not be able to survive without kibbles.

With several hundred euros in debt, Natasa has been able to take a few bags on credit only since we came here, but this will not last...

We would like to send 1800 kg of kibble as a matter of urgency.

100% transparency guaranteed.

1. The dogs rescued by Natasa in recent months were in an appalling state, they will not survive without kibbles

$$$
Rescued in critical condition last year, Foxy suffered from several illnesses, extreme thinness, but also injuries due to abuse. Natasa did everything possible for her for more than a year, but Foxy passed away this summer

Last arrived at the shelter where he has only been for a few days, Elmo is only skin and bones, and absolutely needs kibbles to survive

Rescued from the pound, Eva was terribly thin and suffered from multiple worm-infested wounds.... She has only been at the shelter since the end of July

Affected by pneumonia, skeletal and terrified when she was rescued by Natasa, Poppet had little chance of survival. At the shelter for only a few months, she needs kibble to go on

Wounded and extremely thin, Sooty joined the shelter this summer, she cannot suffer from malnutrition again

Three years old Bess spent her entire life chained and starved... until Natasa came to her rescue last July

Abandoned on the side of the road with her three puppies, Rita was hungry, and suffered from multiple breast tumours. She and her puppies have only been at the shelter since this summer

Rescued from the pound last July, Oliver and Murphy were both emaciated, they can't go hungry again

In recent months, Natasa has rescued many dogs in critical states: most of them very skinny, they also suffered from injuries and/or illnesses, and would not have survived without her help.

"Sadly, it is common here and on daily bases we are facing sometimes unimaginable things" says Natasa, who dedicates her little shelter to the most distressed dogs.

While she has been able to provide care for them so far, she now faces her own limitations, and can no longer afford to buy kibbles to feed them.

2. We were on site on October 11th, there was already no kibble left at the shelter

###
During our visit on October 11th, the room dedicated to food storage was completely empty....

###
In an emergency, Natasa had gone to buy leftover meat to feed the dogs, but this is a significant expense for her, which she cannot ensure continuously!

###
In recovery or under treatment for many dogs, they cannot heal without proper nutrition

During our visit to the shelter on October 11th, the reserve was completely empty, there was no kibble left at the shelter... Natasa had procured leftover meat on an emergency basis, but it is impossible for her to do this continuously.

Since then, Natasa has been juggling as best she can to feed the dogs, mainly by taking on credit, but her debts are already €330, the supplier will not let her continue if she can't pay.

3. Infections, surgeries, chronic diseases... the veterinary costs are enormous, and deplete Natasa's resources

###
Suffering from epilepsy, Danny is forced to follow a life-long treatment, which Natasa must finance

###
Used for hunting, Bentley was suffering from multiple ailments when he was rescued. Cured of his parasitic disease, he still suffers from a broken leg and three tumours that must be removed, and will have to undergo several surgeries in the coming months

Affected by the corona virus, as well as several breast tumours when she was found, Lana had to undergo various treatments and operations over the past six months

###
Elderly, Miss Crusoe recently had to undergo surgery to remove various tumours. Like her, 11 elderly dogs live at the shelter, and will probably know their last days there

###
The shelter also has about ten puppies, who need vaccines, care and adapted food

"Situation lately is very hard here , as we have so many of them need help and vet treatments" says Natasa.

Several surgeries have been necessary in recent months, and more are still to come. These are in addition to the veterinary treatments and care needed almost continuously to keep dogs healthy, and are a total burden on Natasa's budget...

4. If we don't reach the target, dogs won't receive any food

A failed collection on Animal Webaction

We can take action, we have already booked a truck and pallets, but we have to pay it before October 27th.

If the collection fails, we will not be able to pay, the departure of the truck will be cancelled and none of the collected kibbles will be delivered...

If the collection fails, we will refund all donors.

5. Alone with her daughter and husband, Natasa provides all the care and most of the expenses, she is exhausted

###
Natasa and her husband Toni are alone to take care of the 70 dogs in the shelter. More than 60% of the expenses are covered by them

Natasa and her husband Toni take care of the 70 dogs hosted at the shelter themselves, supported whenever possible by their daughter, a veterinary student.

Beyond the daily workload involved, they must also finance most of the shelter's expenses alone, a situation that is untenable in times like these, when many unforeseen costs are added...

6. Isolated in the deep countryside, the shelter is far from everything, it is impossible for Natasa to collect food or leftovers

###
Located on land deep in the countryside, without a proper network and 50 km from any veterinarian, the shelter is extremely isolated, making rescues and food collection very complicated

"We are in the centre at village in very rural area , 50 km both ways from vets and we dont have eve phone signal there properly" Natasa explains.

The isolation of the shelter accentuates the difficulties Natasa faces on a daily basis. The slightest visit to the veterinarian requires time, but also money for both care and fuel.

This distance also implies that it is impossible for her to organize physical collections, or to collect unsold items from local shops....

7. Her calls for help remain unanswered, and her few supporters are at the end of their rope

In July already, Natasa was sounding the alarm among her faithful supporters, but the situation has remained unchanged since then

"We are struggling hard to keep things going and to feed so many dogs , and we are buying food when we can from donations of our friends and never know when we will stuck" Natasa explains.

Natasa has been seeing the situation get stuck and get worse since July, when she started calling for help: "We are struggling hard to keep things going and to feed so many dogs , and we are buying food when we can from donations of our friends and never know when we will stuck" she says.

If she receives some support from people abroad, such as the British association Settusfree, it is only individuals or very small associations that do not have the means to support her more in this ordeal.

8. We want to save them

###
Abandoned on the street when he was only a few weeks old, Colin was suffering from malnutrition, and was able to survive until now thanks to the shelter

###
Rescued from the pound 9 months ago, Bakica suffered from various parasitic diseases and had to undergo surgery. She is old, and weakened by the life she has led

###
Sentenced to a certain death in the streets when he was still a puppy, Billy was taken in by Natasa

###
Rescued from the pound, Socks had contracted distemper and the corona virus there, his life was hanging by a thread

###
Suffering from a coronavirus and severe pneumonia, Thor had been locked in a building without food or water, probably to die. Very old, he suffers from skin problems that are difficult to heal

###
Found with her 2 puppies in the street at -25°, Mum Jayne had also been mutilated, none of them could have survived like this... Mum Jayne is now old, and almost completely blind

###
A former street dog, Flora suffered from an advanced skin disease when she was rescued, which Natasa managed to cure thanks to numerous treatments

###
Rescued while wandering when she was only a few months old, Mona has always known the shelter

9. Natasa gives everything for dogs, but fears that it won't be enough

###

Waking up every morning at 4am, Natasa admits that she has almost no private life, and has no time to see her family or friends. The shelter also involves significant financial sacrifices, Natasa has no time available to work, and a large part of the money earned by her husband is used for dogs. "It's a 24/7 job, but I LOVE it," she simply says.

If she does her best to force herself to stay positive "I have to be for the dogs", Natasa is worried about the future. The lack of food, funding, permanent precariousness and the dogs in need that keep coming in make her fear the future.

"These dogs depend on us. They have already experienced horrors, and we are so grateful for your help. I can't tell you how much this means"

10. In Serbia, 100,000 street dogs are hunted down by dogcatchers to be killed or trapped in killing pounds

Natasa's shelter is located in the western central part of Serbia

It is estimated that Serbia has about 100,000 stray dogs. Private companies were commissioned in 2012 to capture these dogs: their dogcatchers (the name given to the employees responsible for the capture) have been operating throughout the country since then.

Receiving bonuses for each dog captured, dogcatchers hunt dogs relentlessly, and use extremely violent capture techniques. Many dogs are killed, the others end up crammed into killing pounds, without care or food.

Volunteers believe that their actions, in addition to being cruel, do not have a beneficial impact on the volume of stray dogs in the country. Worse still, they greatly undermine the beneficial actions that have existed until now: the subsidies allocated since 2007 as part of a vast national sterilization program have been drastically cut, despite encouraging results when they were carried out....

11. What will the 1800 kg collected be used for ?

This collection is organized by the English association Settusfree, for Natasa's shelter. The 1800 kg of kibble collected will be delivered to Natasa to feed the 70 dogs in the shelter.
