Animal Webaction visited the site 28 July 2021 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Ibtissam is almost out of kibble to feed the 400 street dogs that rely on her. They will starve if no one intervenes!

%%%

"The number of abandoned dogs has never stopped increasing since the beginning of the pandemic. I try to feed them as best I can but I am completely overwhelmed by the number of dogs and the expenses involved...

The street dogs are left to their own devices, they have no food because the restaurants here are still closed. To make matters worse, the heat wave is setting in and the buckets of water that we put everywhere disappear every time as if by magic...

At the moment I only have 2 bags of kibble left and if I don't find a solution quickly, I am afraid that the dogs will get sick, start attacking each other or people. These animals have no one, it is important that I can continue to feed them to keep them alive. It's vital!"

2. Ibtissam's shelter is home to 127 dogs who already aren't eating enough, their lives are in danger too!

%%%

"The dogs in the shelter are not spared from the lack of food, I have had to ration them for a week now. Besides, the bags I have left are of poor quality, the dogs have been having diarrhea and are losing weight...

In the meantime, people continue to call me every day to tell alert me about animals in distress that I unfortunately can no longer help, not only because of the lack of means but also because of the lack of space, given the high number of dogs that I have had to take in lately.

Many of my dogs are sick and would not be able to bear a lasting lack of kibble without their health further deteriorating. This shelter and these dogs are part of me and I dedicate my life to them, even at the expense of my health. Unfortunately I can't carry everything at arm's length by myself, I need help!"

3. Affected by parasitic diseases, very thin and weak, Rahma's life is hanging by a thread. Without kibble, she won't surive.

###

"Rahma has been in the shelter for 20 days, she was reported to me and I went to rescue her. Her health condition is catastrophic, she has Leishmaniasis (a parasitic disease) and scabies, she is very sad, very shy and very anxious, and is very very afraid of humans... probably because of the traumas she has lived through.

I named her Rahma, which means "mercy" in Arabic... The road to recovery will be very long for her. She needs to eat more than the others, up to 6 times a day. A lack of kibble would make her suffer especially badly...it's a matter of life and death really."

4. Morocco is sinking further into crisis and Ibtissam, already deprived of income, no longer receives enough donations to buy kibble.

###

"With the pandemic, people no longer donate, it's a disaster. I can no longer buy kibble because of the lack of money. There are many other expenses other than kibble too and I have debts with the vet, the kibble supplier, rent arrears...

In the coming months, I fear that this situation will continue, that donations will continue to drop, that tourism will not recover... I work in tourism and the crisis is affecting me especially because I have no income.

I would just like to ask people to help us, by any means, even very little, we need all the help we can get... The situation has never been so catastrophic so please help us..."

5. Ibtissam isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving.

###

"I have been sensitive to the animal cause since I was a child, so to see so many abandoned animals in Marrakech is my misfortune. I am convinced that animals have the right to live like us, they are essential for the ecosystem. Unfortunately, here the public authorities do nothing for the animals, even worse, they organize slaughter and poisoning campaigns...

My actions are important because I save animals, I take care of them, I give them food and I offer them a home. All of this prevents these animals from staying in the wild or catching diseases that can be transmitted to humans. I would like people to become aware of this."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Ibtissam will not receive any money but 3000 kg of kibble, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Ibtissam's many calls for help remain unanswered or do not obtain much success. Exhausted and not knowing who to turn to, this campaign is her last hope!

"Donations are down... it was bad enough before the pandemic, but now it's even worse. I've tried to contact several organizations, whether it's for food or medicine, but I get no response.

We have no partnerships, no grants, nothing at all, we depend entirely on donations from foreign individuals, and occasional collections from Animal Webaction.

Even the European community that used to feed and care for animals in the street has left, so there are only a few small volunteers like me left, who find themselves with even more animals and more responsibilities, and also more expenses... I really need this campaign to succeed!"

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find funding for kibbles, many dogs remain starving on the street!

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Ibtissam, please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch.

If you represent an animal protection foundation or NGO, please help Ibtissam's dogs, contact us and we will put you in touch!

If you want to come to Ibtissam's shelter to help her or if you want to send her directly some kibbles or a check, contact Ibtissam via Facebook (note: direct help is under your own responsibility).
