1. In Morocco, Rokaya has run out of kibble for the 129 dogs at her shelter. They will starve if nobody intervenes!

%%%

"We have a total of 129 dogs living at the shelter. Their number is always increasing due to the lack of adoptions. I try to rescue all dogs in bad condition that are at high risk, but I haven't been able to take in as many recently, because I am running out of food and other resources...

The lack of kibble is a constant worry, especially now that we have so many dogs to care for. We have been running low for the past week, and today we have no kibble left at all.

I feel stressed and disappointed. Food is something fundamental and it is a huge concern for me. I fear for those dogs and for their lives, as they depend on me entirely. I need this collection to succeed to feed those dogs, plain and simple. They are in great need."

2. Without kibble, Rokaya will have to release the dogs back onto the streets, where they would die from sickness or hunger, or be killed by people!

###

"This shelter is very important because we are keeping 129 lives safe here. The dogs are in very bad condition, a lot of them are injured from car accidents and have broken or missing limbs. Some of them are suffering from infections, or are in treatment for various diseases, like cancer.

If those dogs were out on the streets, they would die. They are sick and vulnerable, and there is also a high risk that they would be killed by people or by the authorities. Street dogs are often killed in car accidents or poisoned...

The dogs in the shelter are safe. However, I can't leave them without food and locked-up in the shelter,  starving. If I don't find more kibble soon, I will not be able to keep them, let alone rescue new dogs..."

3. Chocolat was starving and alone in the streets, until Rokaya rescued him. Young and sick, his life is now endangered by a lack of kibble.

###

"Chocolat is 4 months old. I found him in the street a week ago, he suffers from mange. He was following people around because he was hungry and desperate for company... but they did not pay any attention to him, people generally stay away from dogs with mange.

I took him in and named him Chocolat because he is such a sweet boy. He is so calm. He is in poor condition though and needs proper care to get well. It is important that he eats regularly so that he can gain strength."

4. The drop in donations following the pandemic has had a big impact on the shelter's finances. Indebted, Rokaya has no money to buy kibble.

###

"A lot of people have lost their jobs or had their salaries reduced due to the pandemic, so we are receiving less donations now... Travel restrictions play a big role too, interested people from abroad or other cities cannot help the way they used to.

We don't even receive enough donations to cover the minimum of our expenses, I can barely pay the rent for the shelter. I have debts to the veterinary, the food supplier, the pharmacy... My debts have increased a lot lately, I owe over 600 euros to the food supplier alone.

The number of dogs in my care has increased tremendously, I can’t do everything on my own, it exceeds my resources and capacities. It would mean the world to me if this campaign succeeds. My dogs do really need food urgently."

5. Rokaya is not asking for money, but for kibble to keep the dogs from starving.

###

"I have always had a strong devotion to animals. I like them a lot and I love to take care of them and help them. I started this association very quickly, nearly four years ago. The idea came to me and I didn’t hesitate, even though I knew I would face a lot of difficulties.

If I was not here to help, I can’t imagine what would happen to these animals. I do everything: Providing water, bringing the sick dogs to the veterinarian, providing food, managing the pages and soliciting donations, rescuing dogs in distress...

My rescue is needed because there is no other solution to save their lives. My biggest hope is to find a place where I can provide a stable and fully equipped shelter, with water and a steady food supply. At the end of the day, this is also a humanitarian cause... people should support that."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Rokaya will not receive any money but 3000 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble throughout the country.

7. Despite her efforts, Rokaya cannot find enough help to care for the many dogs in need. She is out of options!

"I've reached out to other organisations in Morocco and abroad, but there are a lot of abandoned dogs due to the Covid crisis, and many organisations prefer to help shelters in their own cities. I don’t receive any local support, apart from occasional volunteers.

I fund the shelter with the donations that I receive from people following our pages on Facebook and Instagram, and I also have a YouTube page. I have tried fundraising with a national organization, but we did not collect enough donations to cover our needs.

I keep receiving calls about new dogs in distress... All in all, I can't count on donations only, they are not enough to cover our needs, especially now with the Covid crisis. I don’t have any other options apart from this campaign."

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find funding for kibble, many dogs remain starving in the street!

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Rokaya, please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch.
