Animal Webaction visited the site 07 August 2021 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Hind is almost out of kibble to feed the over 100 street dogs that depend on her. They will starve if nobody helps them!

%%%

"The number of dogs left on the street has dramatically increased, a few months ago I was taking care of about 40 dogs only, today there are more than 100 dogs that rely on my association on the streets. This is due to a wave of abandonment in the area, most of the abandoned dogs are ill dogs, sometimes people just don't want them anymore.

Our shelter cannot take in all these dogs, especially in this period when the health crisis has impacted us and is still impacting us in terms of help, donations, funding, but also morally. I do my best to feed and protect them, but we are in dire need of kibble. I only have 5 bags left, it is totally impossible for me to buy more.

I am worried and disgusted with this situation, I feel helpless, I see all these problems and I am unable to solve them. But I continue to do my best to help these animals as much as possible. Without our help, the help of people who love animals, these dogs will live terrible hardship without kibble: please help us and help these dogs!"

2. Affected by a severe form of scabies, Massaoud is extremely weakened and will not be able to cope without kibble.

###

"Massaoud has been living on the street for over two years. He has extensive scabies which keeps relapsing, despite all the treatments and injections I give him.

Scabies affects his immune system a lot and makes him very fragile, he is at risk of catching additional infections or diseases because of the lack of kibble, and may contaminate other stray dogs as well.

About 90% of the dogs in the area are infected with scabies, most of the street dogs in my care are. I treat what I can because the number of dogs is huge, the diet is crucial to make the treatment of those already affected work, and to avoid as much as possible that the others get infected in turn."

3. Hind also hosts 75 dogs in her shelters, they too will be deprived of kibble in a few days if she doesn't get help.

%%%

"I take care of 75 dogs at the moment between the shelter and my farm. Their situation is much better than that of the street dogs because we limit their number, as soon as a dog catches scabies we isolate it, otherwise we can't cope.

In spite of all our efforts, the number of dogs and the lack of means are such that the association was forced to temporarily suspend all its activities at the end of July. All sectors without exception are in agony because of the crisis here, and so is our shelter, since it was mainly financed by donations. At the moment, the situation is critical.

The dogs have become more fragile and sensitive to any infection, and more aggressive: they fight all the time, and try to dominate. We need help to continue our work, to protect and help these dogs. I wish with all my heart that people with a big heart see the suffering we are going through and help us."

4. Pegasus was eaten away by mange when he was found, and only skin and bones. At only 9 months old, he absolutely needs kibble to fight the disease.

###

"Pegasus is a 9 month old dog, who was found skeletal, with scabies all over his body, which also infected his brother. We have isolated him in a pen at the shelter, where we have been treating him for over 3 months.

His condition is likely to worsen with the lack of kibble, Pegasus is already very agitated and will not be able to cope with such a situation."

5. Deprived of most of the donations that kept the association going, Hind has been dealing with everything single-handedly for months. Over-indebted and overwhelmed by the needs, she can no longer buy kibble.

###

"Getting into debt has become our only way to keep the association running. We have taken the risk of getting into debt to be able to move forward and continue our actions since the beginning of the crisis, but we now find ourselves in a vicious circle, it is a situation that can no longer be maintained.

I have a lot of debts with the vet, the pet shop, the shelter caretakers are still waiting for the rest of their salary that I was not able to pay them last month... There are a lot of expenses associated with the shelter, not only kibble and vet care, but also the car that allows us to do rescues, insurance, fuel, repairs, all the costs here and there. That's why we had to suspend our activities at the end of July, and it may become permanent if we don't find a way out of this."

6. Hind is not asking to receive money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"Our shelter is the first recovery centre in Morocco that meets WHO recommendations and aims to eradicate rabies and control dog overpopulation. It also serves to accommodate dogs that will be caught, neutered, vaccinated and then released in the region, to protect the territory without representing any danger to the population. Because if their territory remains empty, other dogs, often unsterilised and unvaccinated, will inexorably settle there.

It is really essential in order to improve the animal condition, as long as my association is there, it protects these dogs and defends their cause, in a context where people are not necessarily used to taking good care of animals, and where many do not like dogs. Feeding and caring for them is crucial for the public to accept these dogs.

It will be very sad for me if I can no longer help stray and distressed dogs"

7. If this campaign succeeds, Hind will not receive any money but 2200 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistic platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

8. Calls for donations are not working, collaborations and partnerships are at a standstill because of the Covid-19 takeover. Hind desperately needs this campaign.

"Everything is very complicated, we have a new wave of Covid in Morocco, with new travel restrictions, all of which makes it very difficult to collaborate with other associations/ foundations.

In general, donations are falling, restaurants still can't give us their leftover food like they used to. The fundraising campaigns I have launched are not working, the contributions I receive can be counted on the fingers of one hand, while the association's page has over 49,000 subscribers... This campaign is our greatest hope!"

9. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

10. In Morocco, donors are rare, and there are no foundations or subsidies… It is very difficult to find funding for kibble, many cats are left starving in the street!
