Animal Webaction visited the site 23 September 2021 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Romania, Elena is running out of kibble to feed the 48 dogs in her care. They already don't eat enough, and will starve if no one intervenes!

%%%

"I care for 35 dogs in the shelter at this moment, plus 8 dogs on the street and 5 others in a nearby location. Here there is no one to help them if I don't get involved, the closest service for strays is 60 km away, and they only capture the dogs but don't treat them. Plus, locals don't really accept stray dogs, it is complicated and getting worse than before.

I've been forced to feed them less over the last 2 months because I am struggling, they don't eat enough, and for economy I also feed them with dry bread. Their fur is falling off, it isn't good for their health. Still, even if I stick to redcued portions, I only have enough left for a bit more than 2 weeks.

I feel scared, alone and with no help. If I don't manage to get food, their condition will worsen, they will get sick, lose weight... They are everything for me, they keep me alive, I need help to help them."

2. Rescued from a terrible pound where dogs killed each other not to starve, Fetita remains traumatised and must be protected from hunger.

###

"I rescued Fetita 5 years ago from a public shelter, which was overpopulated, kept dogs in really bad conditions, with dogs starving so much they were eating each other. She is a scared, traumatised dog.

Although she's improved at the shelter, she is still fearful. I need to be able to take care of her, and feed her enough absolutly."

3. With the pandemic, Elena lost her job and a large part of the donations that kept the shelter going. Overwhelmed by the difficulties, she can no longer buy kibble.

###

"Before the pandemic, I had a job, plus occasional donations used to come more often. It hasn't been the same since. Now, I manage to get jobs sometimes in various activities to earn a bit of money, and there are very few donations.

I have more than 2000 euros of debts already, and with winter coming I'm overwhelmed with stress. Animals get colder during this period, they need to eat more, I'm afraid of veterinary costs increasing while I still have many bills I haven't paid. Also, I'm supposed to move the shelter to a new land that will be safer for the dogs and will allow me to protect them better, but I'm afraid I won't be able to move due to lack of funds, the move has already been postponed for months.

If the move doesn't happen, I need to make repairs here and get wood to be able to protect them from the cold as much as possible. More than anything, I need to have food for them to be ok. I'm overwhelmed by the situation."

4. Elena is not asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"For animals I have dedicated my life, I no longer have a family, I am isolated from the community. It gives me joy to be around them and take care of them. They deserve all the sacrifice, I’m willing to do everything I can for the animal wellbeing.

There are fewer animals without a shelter in the village thanks to my devotion, but now I'm afraid I won't be able to save them anymore, it's a general problem, it's pretty serious with abandoned animals. Hope is only the help from abroad, from our country I do not see any."

5. If this campaign is successful, Elena will not receive any money, but 1800 kg of kibble, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistics centre in Romania.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Romania, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

6. Despite her many calls for support, Elena is not getting enough help. Her loyal supporters have already done their utmost, she needs this campaign to succeed.

"I've turned to several organisations to get help, but they all have many cases at the moment and it doesn't go very well. I don't know who else to turn to.

I have a sponsorship from two shops here, once every three months I receive a bit of food from them for the animals which is great, but far from enough unfortunately.

I need this campaign to succeed so that I can handle it, I have to provide them with enough food and to avoid new expenses with the vet."

7. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

8. In Romania, it is difficult to find funds for kibble, there are no grants, no foundations... Many abandoned dogs die alone in the streets, in complete indifference...

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Elena, please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch with each other.
