Animal Webaction visited the site 10 October 2021 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Romania, Marusia has no more kibble to feed the 127 dogs at the association's shelter. They will die starve if nobody intervenes!

%%%

"There are currently 127 dogs at the shelter and an increasing number of abandoned dogs on the streets, it's heartbreaking and exhausting. Unfortunately our adoptions have dropped lately which means we have had more dogs coming in than getting out.

The situation has lasted longer than expected and it's getting harder and harder to buy kibble for the many dogs under our care. I've already had to reduce the dogs' portions for over a week and today I am down to the last bag of kibble...

With winter approaching and temperatures dropping as low as -20 degrees, having a food shortage is unthinkable. I need to find a solution, otherwise my dogs won't stand a chance to survive the cold. Unfortunately, people here don't empathize with our situation, my only hope to secure food for the dogs is this campaign!"

2. The number of dogs in distress is reaching new heights and the lack of food is preventing the association from rescuing them. They are dying in the streets!

###

"There are countless of dogs on the streets who need our help. Everyday I just find more and more. Dogs that are abused by their owners, abandoned on the streets, tied in plastic bags and hang on trees, left to experience a slow and painful death...

It's very hard for me to remain positive in these circumstances, I am human and I was born with a soul! It's even harder to think about these dogs and be unable to act due to more pragmatic concerns like the lack of kibble that is currently affecting us. It's making me depressed.

I really hope that this campaign will work so we can obtain kibble and come to their rescue, it is no more no less a matter of survival for them..."

3. Abandoned in the middle of nowhere, Bobi wandered for months before reaching the shelter. Weakened and injured, she needs food to survive and face the surgery that awaits her.

###

"Bobi, is a 3-year-old female with a sad story. Her owner abandoned her 100 km away from her home, in the woods. She somehow managed to survive and found her way back home after 6-7 months, fracturing her leg in the process!

When she returned home, her "owner" contacted us. He had put her outside, tied to a chain. We negotiated to take Bobi with us. He oviously didn't stop us from doing so and to be honest, it was the best possible outcome. He would certainly have abandoned Bobi again, or worse...

Bobi has been with us for a few months and despite all the hardships she's been through, she is sweet and kind-natured. She needs food so she can maintain her health and be strong enough to undergo her leg operation. Without kibble to restore her strength, she'll be fighting a losing battle..."

4. Abuse cases are on the rise, veterinary expenses are exploding. The association no longer has enough money to buy kibble!

###

"For several months we have been having more and more dogs coming from cases of abuse, they have needed surgeries, post-care treatments and regular veterinary checks. All of this has resulted in a lot of additional expenses for our association and we are finding it hard to cope.

With so many mouths to feed, our monthly food budget is on the rise while our donations aren't taking off. There's only one foundation in Belgium that is helping us but it's very rare as they too are out of funds. They have helped us with food in July and haven't been able to help us since.

Time is flying by and our resources are exhausted. We have even had to postpone surgeries and sterilization campaigns due to lack of funds... We need this campaign to be able to feed our dogs!"

5. Marusia isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving!

###

"I was born with a love for animals and my love only grew stronger with years. At first, I rescued dogs and brought them to my home, but the dogs were getting so numerous that a shelter was needed, so I dedicated myself to building one with the help of the French association Coeur d'Asha.

I'm the one caring for the dogs here on the spot. I am 100% involved, I give the dogs all my time and a lot of love! Unfortunately people here don't really see eye to eye with me, animal lovers are very scarce. Most people have a precarious mentality and only see animals as purely functional, serving a purpose (i.e. farm animals, guard dogs for the house...).

People who own animals as pets are not necessarily educated on animal welfare issues and it's a big part of the issue. Every chance I get, I try to discuss with owners of abandoned dogs but it often feels like the conversation is going nowhere, it's tiring. I strongly believe that if the government were enforcing the existing laws, such as the law on sterilization, animal suffering in Romania would decrease immensely."

6. If this campaign is successful, Marusia will not receive any money but 3000 kg of kibble will be delivered from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Romania.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Romania, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. The association has reached the end of its capacities, this campaign is their last hope to feed the dogs!

We do not receive any governmental help. Most of the association's funds come from adoptions but there has been none in the last few months.

Thankfully, we now have 11 dogs reserved who will go to France at the end of October, but despite this good news, the number of dogs remaining at the shelter remains high, and the number of dogs in need on the streets is even higher...

If we want to continue helping our dogs and others alike, we really need to secure a new stock of food. This campaign is needed to help us achieve that and overcome this terrible period of uncertainty."

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Romania, it is difficult to find funds for kibbles, there are no aid, no grants, no foundation... Many abandoned dogs die alone in the streets, in complete indifference...
