We can't let these street dogs and those from the shelter starve!

In Bosnia, Velimir is out of kibble to feed the dogs he cares for on the street and in his shelter, they are going to starve!

1. In Bosnia, Velimir can no longer feed the street dogs, without this campaign, they will die in the street this winter!

%%%

"Dogs on the streets have a miserable existence, nobody truly cares about them, even their owners abandon them. Every day I receive calls from people requesting that I pick up their dogs, which they have abandoned and have treated badly... It's terrible.

It's cold and snowing outside, many dogs are hiding in abandoned and demolished houses; I'd like to place them all in the shelter, but I can't due to our current lack of resources. We have no food reserves at all anymore, we haven't been able to feed the street dogs for a few weeks now. The dogs are weakened and need a food source to be able to subsist this winter.

If I can't provide that for them, they will start attacking people or domestic animals and they will become sick. They also risk getting caught by the dog catchers who come from as far as Saravejo to capture dogs in our region and carry them to the capital pound, where they are slaughtered. I feel helpless, exhausted and scared. I'm out of options, we need your help!"

2. Left injured after being hit by a car, Crni won't be able to survive in the streets if Velimir doesn't feed him...

###

"Crni is a 1-year-old male. I found him near the school, he was hit by a car and had damage on his left paw. It's the school kids who informed me because they thought he was dead... We took him to the vet and later returned him to the street.

Although he is now doing better he still has pain in his paw and I honestly don't think he'll be able to get through the winter if I can't find a way to feed him..."

3. The dogs at the shelter aren't eating enough, tensions are rising... Fights might degenerate at any moment if Velimir doesn't secure a new kibble stock!

%%%

"We make every effort to provide everything the dogs in the shelter require but times are very hard, we haven't received any donation in the last couple of months, we do not have any food stock. Everyday I'm forced to find a new solution to buy food but I don't always succeed and it's never enough to feed the dogs on a long term basis.

The only food I'm able to buy is the cheapest type of kibble and I've already had to reduce the meals and portion sizes, some dogs have started losing weight as a result... The dog's hunger is also turning into aggressivity because they're not eating properly.

Stronger dogs steal food from weaker ones, attack each other... The lack of food makes me worried the situation will degenerate and I'll eventually have to close the shelter... I can't allow that to happen, I can't even think about it."

4. Used in dog fights, starved and abused, Muchi needs kibble to gain strength and survive this winter.

###

"Muchi is 4 year-old male, I found him on the street, at checkpoints where I feed the dogs. Muchi is a dog with a pedigree who was used in dog fights. He has deep trusting issues with humans, he was very aggressive and scared when I found him.

Muchi now lives at the shelter, I have to keep him in a separate space as I'm worried he could react aggressively with the others for now. Muchi is very skinny and just like the other dogs, he needs to eat well and gain some weight to survive the winter. He's been through enough and he deserves to be safe."

5. The association has not received any donations in over two months. Helpless and indebted, Velimir can no longer buy kibble for the dogs!

###

"All these years, I have worked for free and given all of my money to ensure the survival of this shelter and that of the abandoned dogs of Srebrenica. We have a few good people who help us, but we don't have consistent and concrete support to cover the costs of running the shelter.

There are many problems, such as a lack of water and electricity, the cost of running the shelter - workers, transportation, and other expenses, as well as a limited supply of living space. It is extremely difficult to pay for everything but the most prominent and biggest concern is how to feed so many dogs.

Every day, I am stressed about how to buy food for the dogs and how much money I have. My personal debt and our debt for veterinary services is still growing... I'm afraid I'll have to sell my property if the situation doesn't evolve for the better."

6. Velimir isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving!

###

"My rescue journey started when I saved two puppies who had been thrown into a freezing river. I've been actively rescuing abandoned dogs ever since then because I can't fathom why people are so cruel with them...

I created the association and gradually built the shelter, with the fundamental belief that it would be better to have all the dogs in one location so they could receive all the care they needed. Years down the road, we are still the region's only "no kill" shelter,  that dedicates itself to the humane care of abandoned dogs.

We have a direct impact on reducing the number of street dogs in the region, we care for them, try to find them loving homes. We try to promote positive human values to the community. I truly hope that one day our efforts will lead to less animal suffering."

7.  If this campaign succeeds, Velimir will not receive any money but 1920 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistic platform in Bosnia.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Bosnia which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

8. Calls for donations are not successful, Velimir doesn't know how to get out of this rough patch. This campaign is his last hope to feed the dogs this winter!

"With the pandemic, a lot has changed, we receive fewer and fewer donations and there aren't many people who can support our work on a regular basis. People's interests have shifted, they now prioritize other things over helping abandoned animals.

We haven't received a donation in a long time, my own funds are limited, and I also have large debts that I can't pay off. The end of the year is approaching, as is winter, and finding finances or money to buy kibble is even tougher than usual. We simply do not have enough food!

We can't accomplish it on our own; we need everyone's help!  We need this action to succeed so we can secure food for the dogs for the next couple of months. For us, it would mean fewer worries, less stress, and happy dogs!"

9. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.
