1. In Serbia, Snezana is running out of kibble to feed the street dogs under her care. They will starve if no one helps!

%%%

"Lately there are more and more dogs on the streets of Valjevo. Most people don’t accept them, they only see them as stray dogs. What they don't want to accept is that these are abandoned pets... I feel helpless because there are so many of them.

Everyone calls me or sends me a message when a dog is in trouble and they expect me to do all the work. People just want the problem to disappear, but no one is willing to step in and help, it's very difficult.

The main difficulty is providing food because the number of dogs is growing and the price of kibble has gone up. Right now I have enough kibble for about 4 more days only. If this doesn't succeed, I am afraid I will no longer be able to help the abandoned dogs who need me..."

2. Recenty abandoned, Remi has lost all bearings. She needs kibble to survive on the streets!

###

"Remi recently showed up among the group of street dogs I regularly take care of. I don't know what happened to her exactly but I'm sure of one thing, someone abandoned her.

She has skin issues, she suffers from demodex, a parasitic disease. She is very timid and never gets near any people. Her health is very fragile and she is quite skinny, she is going to need treatment paired with high-quality kibble to get better."

3. Snezana's shelter is also home to 40 vulnerable dogs, all threatened by the lack of kibble. We cannot let them starve!

"All of the dogs in my shelter have suffered some kind of injury or were malnourished when I found them. Some new people usually send help when I post about an injured dog, but they quickly forget the whole story and stop helping shortly after.

The thing is, the vast majority of my dogs remaib with special needs and I still have to feed all of them, even after they get better. Each month is a struggle to provide because I need food for 40 dogs and it's very expensive. Sometimes, I don't even have enough to feed myself...

Right now, some of the dogs have lost weight due to the low-quality food I've been given them. They need to eat more, and they also need better quality food. I am honestly afraid for the period to come. I hope this kibble collection will be successful so that my little paws can be happy and peaceful during the winter. I cannot watch them be hungry and suffer..."

4. Hit by a car, Carli suffers from a rectal condition that leaves him very weak. He needs kibble to be able to recover from his upcoming surgery.

###

"Carli is a 2-year-old male, he's been at the shelter for around 4 months. I got a message on Facebook telling me that he was injured and that he was in a schoolyard in town. He was hit by a car, his leg and tail were broken.

As a result of the trauma, he has problems with his bowel, he has a rectal prolapse and will need another surgery.  Because of his condition, he gets easily injured and sometimes has trouble moving.

Carli is a good and happy dog but he is definitely very vulnerable. He needs great food for his health not to deteriorate any further and to survive his next surgery."

5. Donations and adoptions have dropped since the pandemic, while the number of dogs in need keeps increasing. Indebted, Snezana can no longer buy kibble.

###

"I use the social network accounts to beg for money, as I depend on humane people who are willing to donate to run the shelter. Unfortunately a lot of people have lost their jobs due to the pandemic and there are fewer donations; adoptions have also dropped significantly.

The expenses keep piling up and my salary can’t cover all the expenses for so many dogs. When I take a dog in there are a lot of things to do – take them to the vet, because most of them are injured or sick, pay for the necessary treatment, pay for transport, sterilize them...

That’s a lot of bills to pay for a single dog and it multiplies. I’m hoping there will be enough donations to cover my debts but most of all, I hope we can get some help with food because it's our most pressing issue."

6. Snezana isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving!

###

"It all started in 2018 when I rescued my first dog – Srećko. He was hit by a car and both of his legs were broken. I rescued him and treated him, paid for all his surgeries. Since then, no matter how injured or sick, I do my best to help every dog I come accross.

My job is to do everything, from rescuing the dogs, taking them to the vet, cleaning everything and feeding them daily. I haven’t got any employees as I don’t have the resources to pay anyone to do the work. I am proud of every soul I saved because I know these dogs wouldn't be alive if I hadn't taken action.

Even owners don’t want to treat their sick dogs... My hope is that the public institutions will start doing their job and start sanctioning owners who abandon their pets. I also hope I will be able to gather more help so I can help more dogs in return."

7. If this campaign succeeds, Snezana will not receive any money but 2000 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Serbia.

Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Serbia, which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

8. Snezana's calls for help don't get enough attention and her supports have already done their maximum. She needs this campaign to feed the dogs!

"I always write about needing food on the Facebook page. It helps, there is always at least one new person that donates. But it’s usually a one-time donation. Plus, it’s the holiday season and people always donate less during these times, they spend more on celebrations and travelling. The problem is that for the 50 dogs that I take care of, I need a lot of food.

On top of that, there are always other, unplanned expenses (treatments, surgeries) and then I don’t have enough left for food. I do have the support of one Slovenian association that helps me pay for treatments or food, however that aid is only occasional.

I wish there were more organizations and individuals willing to support our cause. That's why I am turning to you today, we need your help!!"

9. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

10. In Serbia, street dogs are hunted by the state and ignored by the population, volunteers like Snezana are their only hope.
