Animal Webaction visited the site 08 January 2022 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Hind is almost out of kibble to feed the 150 street cats that depend on her, they will starve to death if no one helps them!

%%%

"As it is winter, the cats have to eat more than usual. Plus, it's almost mating season, so I'm likely to find a lot more cats on the street soon, so it's harder to get them kibble. Street cats live in the cold, they are malnourished and deficient, they have trouble not only producing heat, but also keeping it.

These cats can freeze to death if I don't feed them, they rely on me. I have run out of kibble, I have had to buy some with my own money but soon I will not be able to afford it.

I am lost and desperate. We are a small organisation with little cash and no food stock to face the coming days. All our hope is based on this collection!"

2. Hind also cares for 20 particularly fragile cats in her shelter, who are also at risk of starvation.

%%%

"The cats at the shelter are all fragile cats, they need to eat more to regain their strength, and our stock of kibble is finished. We have started buying kibble with my own money but it is not enough to meet their nutritional needs.

I do my best to help cats in distress even though I am now forced to treat them on credit. The better the cats eat, the stronger their immune system.

If the cats don't eat well, they get sick. I'm afraid I won't be able to treat them as we have a large vet bill..."

3. Otis is so fragile that without kibble he is doomed...

###

"Otis is a blind kitten who has been in the shelter for 2 months, he had coryza which affected both his eyes. He has undergone operations on his eyes but unfortunately this has not worked.

He is very fearful and timid, Otis will not be able to survive this forced diet, this cat needs more food than other cats. I fear he will lose weight, or starve to death..."

4. The number of abandoned cats has been soaring since the pandemic, while donations have dropped. Indebted and overwhelmed, Hind has no money left to buy kibble.

###

"Before the pandemic, I used to buy the kibble myself but unfortunately since this crisis, the number of cats has increased. Donations are down because of the closure of the borders, and with the Omicron panic, donors are also in trouble.

We have started the year with a lot of expenses: car tax sticker, technical visits, insurances, works at the dog convalescence centre, works at the cattery, in addition to the salaries and the daily expenses of medicines, vet bills, hygiene products and maintenance of the cattery... We have debts for petrol, but also for vets, and each of the volunteers of the association pays for the animals' needs with their own salary!

This collection is our only hope to find food for our cats. I only have a small treasury, we are totally overwhelmed... We need help!"

5. Hind is not asking for money, but for kibble to prevent the cats from starving.

###

"My work is essential for abandoned cats because I take care of them, I sterilise them, and I find them a family to adopt. Our daily work consists of taking care of cats in distress and raising awareness about the importance of sterilisation, and at the same time we sterilise the cats so that we can break the cycle of abandonment.

I can't cope on my own any more because the number of cats has increased and so have the costs. It is important that people support me because my work is indispensable for the abandoned cats. These cats need us!"

6. If this campaign succeeds, Hind will not receive any money, but 1000 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistical platform in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver the kibble.

7. Online fundraising has failed, and other organisations can't help her... Hind is looking for solutions everywhere, but this campaign is her last hope.

###

"In Morocco, I can't find any organisations to support us. Those who agree to help us abroad have become powerless because of travel restrictions. I can't even organise an online fund for food because even the ones for vet fees don't work well. We are in distress, our treasury is empty. We can't buy kibble if people don't help us!"

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Morocco, donors are rare, and there are no foundations or subsidies... It is very difficult to find funding for kibble, many cats are left starving in the street!
