1. In Bosnia, Vesna will soon run out of kibble to feed the 57 dogs at her shelter. They will starve if no one helps!

###

"The Bosnian winter is very harsh, we face extreme temperatures, snow... Dogs need to eat more than usual to face the cold. Sadly, our adoptions have dropped, we've reached maximum capacity at the shelter and our biggest problem is the lack of food.

Right now we only have enough food for the next few days. I’m afraid that if we don't find a way to get a new stock of kibble, not all dogs will survive winter without illness or death...It's my biggest worry.

Not being able to feed my dogs or having to cut down rations would be devastating to me and the dogs won't be able to stand it. Having this collection succeed would help us tremendously."

2. Without food, Vesna will be unable to rescue more street dogs in need, or maintain peace among the dogs already living at the shelter...

###

"Procurement of food is a big struggle for us, every month we fear there won't be enough for the dogs at the shelter. In addition, street dogs are more and more numerous and as much as we'd like to take them all in, our lack of space and resources is forcing us to make hard choices.

I have to choose which dogs get to be at the shelter and which ones don't and you have no idea how truly heartbreaking it is for me. Each and everyone of them needs food, water and a roof over their head...

The dogs at the shelter also need to be cared for and if I don't find food for them, there will be disputes and attacks, I’m afraid some of them will die, it would be a huge tragedy. This campaign would help us prevent this scenario and give us the opportunity to redirect our energy towards other important matters such as rescuing and adoptions."

3. Rescued from the kill shelter where he was underfed and neglected, Bruno won't be able to withstand another food deprivation.

###

"We rescued Bruno from Lokom, the kill shelter. He was on death raw...Bruno is only 5 or 6 years old but life hasn't been kind to him. Guessing from his social nature and the collar he had on when we took him in, I think he used to have an owner and was abandoned, although one can never ber sure.

He had giardiasys (a parasitic disease) when he came in and was extremely skinny. He's been with us for 4 months now and although he is starting to get better, he remains among the most vulnerable dogs at the shelter.

He needs to eat more than other dogs to fully recover, 3 meals a day is a must for him. If we can no longer provide that, he will suffer great consequences to his health."

4. A fire destroyed the shelter and left the association destitute. Indebted and struggling to get back on their feet, they need help feeding the dogs!

###

"The past year has been a very tough one for us. We suffered a fire at the shelter that destroyed everything and took the life of 2 of our dogs, Sasha and baby. It was a terrible tragedy... I knocked on every door to receive help ever since, and finally managed to receive a subsidy from the local government recently.

We couldn't have rebuilt without this help, but sadly we are still missing money to finish everything that's needed, our donations are stagnating, people have less money and are less able to help. Our dogs are very much here though and despite needing a roof over their head, they also need us to cover their most basic need : food!

We have a massive need for food and it's becoming impossible to collect. Before the pandemic, we used to receive bags of food directly at the shelter, donated by foreign organizations. But now with the restrictions in place, it’s much harder to import food into Bosnia and these donations have stopped. The food supplier won't allow us to buy on credit... We have debts at the vet... We need help getting back on our feet!"

5. Vesna isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"I've evolved around animals my whole life, I started volunteering small and around 6 years ago, I moved here and built the first kennel. It took me time and a lot of work to get to where I am now, I've had to be very persistent, asking for help over and over again.

Now my work is starting to bear its fruits and it's amazing to see. We've finally obtained some help from the local government and mentalities are starting to shift. We do kindergarten visits whenever possible, which is a huge step for the community because it means the newest generations will have another outlook on animal welfare issues.

We hope that things will continue to evolve and that our local government will start a program to massively sterilize street dogs, change the law and start punishing people who abandon their pets... This is the only way to stop reproduction and suffering."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Vesna will not receive any money but 2400 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistic platform in Bosnia.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Bosnia which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

7. Vesna no longer has the resources to help all the dogs in need and her supporters have already done their maximum. She needs this campaign!

"We collaborate with a few organizations from abroad, they help us with adoptions and sponsorships. This help is great but unfortunately it doesn't cover all our expenses. We fundraise for food but I feel that if you don't post a specific dog case, people don't get involved as much.

Somehow our posts about the "general dogs" at the shelter needing to eat don't get the same attention. Facing a lack of food is a constant fear for us, we hope this campaign will be succesful so we can feel less stress and worry during the hardest months of the year."

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.
