Animal Webaction visited the site 16 January 2022 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In North Macedonia, Kemal will soon run out of kibble to feed the 45 dogs in her shelter. They will starve if no one helps!

"I am very concerned about the cold weather at the moment, the dogs need to eat more to survive these temperatures. I am working hard to solve this problem and improve the dogs' living conditions during the cold season, but without kibble it is hopeless...

I have managed to buy kibble with my own money, but I only have 3 days of stock left. I would rather not eat than let my dogs starve! I don't sleep well when I think that I can't provide them with enough food, I try to find a solution to this problem, but I can't do it alone!

The fragile dogs in my shelter will not survive without kibble. I want to be able to make sure that all the dogs in my care don't end up back on the streets. The only solution for these dogs is to find an adoptive family, so even if I run out of food, I will do my best and try to save them somehow. Unfortunately, I am already short of resources, so I really hope to get some help, this campaign is very important for me and for my dogs..."

2. Browny has a serious heart condition: she will not tolerate her medication without kibble!

###

"Browny is only one year old and has already contracted dilofilaria (heartworm). The treatment is very difficult for her to bear. The stage of her disease is very dangerous, her health is constantly monitored, she will need to eat kibble to survive it and have the chance to be adopted!"

3. Thirty street dogs depend on Kemal to survive, they too risk starvation without kibble...

###

"I feed the street dogs on a daily basis, but they are scared of humans. Almost all stray dogs have behavioural problems because the local population does not accept them, people hit them, poison them or kill them...  That's why each dog needs some time to trust me before I can bring them to the shelter.

The local institution that is supposed to take care of stray dogs is not doing anything about the proliferation of animals. We are now considering an agreement with them that would allow us to vaccinate more dogs. But in the meantime we are alone in dealing with them... Especially as there are more and more abandoned dogs, I can see it with my own eyes, every day there are more of them. Unfortunately, I can't sterilise them all, nor vaccinate them, nor feed them.

The world they live in is dangerous, I hope to expand the shelter and have enough resources to take in more dogs in my shelter, but at the moment I can't afford it. I am very concerned about the food problem. If only I could have enough food for the next month at least, I would sleep well. If this campaign fails, I could only offer them bread, and I'm afraid that won't be enough!"

4. Because of the lack of kibble, Kemal can no longer take in new dogs at the shelter, they are condemned to spend the winter on the street on an empty stomach...

###

"We are proud to have succeeded in welcoming many dogs in distress to the shelter, but our resources are limited: today, we cannot bring in new dogs, due to lack of space, food, vaccines... Food is a basic need, and I can't get any more! If the harvest is successful, I will protect the dogs in my shelter from starvation and disease, but I could also save more lives.

As the shelter needs to be constantly improved, this requires a lot of financial and physical resources. Everything you see in this shelter I created with my own hands, if only a few more people could come and help me, it would make a big difference, and we could save more dogs from the streets!"

5. Kemal sacrifices all his time and money to the shelter: in debt, he can no longer manage on his own, he needs this campaign of kibble to save the dogs from misery.

###

"In addition to the financial problems, I have a lack of volunteers at the shelter.  Running this place takes a lot of mental and physical strength, and I'm exhausted from having to do everything alone... It's hard to feed, care for, clean, and adopt all the dogs. I feel responsible for these dogs, and I would be very unhappy if tomorrow I was unable to feed them...

Until today, I have financed almost everything with my own money. Fortunately, there are people who donate, but unfortunately it is not enough. I spend my own money on the shelter, my resources are limited, and donations are not enough to get food.

Each dog has many needs, like food, vaccines, medical care, time, it is very difficult to finance all this by my own means..."

6. Kemal isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"This shelter was established in October 2020. I saw stray dogs on the streets every day, hungry and in need, and I realised that I could try to help them a little more than just feeding them on the street every now and then. With the help of my friends, I built this shelter to take in the abandoned dogs of this neighbourhood and find them a family.

My shelter complies with all national and European laws and restrictions, it is always inspected by the authorities, and I monitor every dog in my care, their health, their weight, their mood, to make sure they are all safe and have everything they need. Unfortunately, the local population and the authorities are still irresponsible, the number of abandoned dogs is increasing, and the resources we have are limited. It's disappointing...

At the moment I feel helpless. I'm afraid of running out of resources, afraid of not being able to manage my rescue mission properly. I care for each dog here in the same way I care for my own pets. I hope to rescue and find homes for as many dogs as possible, and I hope that every dog in my shelter is happy, healthy and fed."

7. If this campaign succeeds, Kemal will not receive any money but 1800 kg of kibbles, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Macedonia.

Animal Webaction has a logistics centre in Macedonia which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

8. The association can only count on a few supporters, who have already done their utmost: Kemal needs this campaign to feed the dogs this winter!

"We have no partnership, we are alone. We have tried to contact public services and municipalities, unfortunately we have never received any help. Nobody cares about the abandoned dogs here. We regularly organise fundraising on social networks, but it is not enough. We have a community of 96 supporters who have adopted animals from our shelter, and these people always help us as much as they can, but their funds are also limited.

The problem of food is very common in Macedonia, and this cannot be solved by a few donations, especially as we have many other problems: we also have to get medicines from abroad, as these medicines are not available in Macedonia, and it costs a lot of money to get them and have them delivered here... Believe me, we have tried all possible options, but until today the only option we have is to use our own savings..."

9. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

10. In Macedonia, neither the state nor the population wants to help the abandoned dogs. A lot of animals are left to die outside, there is no care for them.
