Animal Webaction visited the site 22 January 2022 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Bosnia, Samira has almost no kibble left to feed the 64 dogs at her shelter. They will starve if no one helps!

"The lack of food is our biggest problem at the shelter currently, I've been posting on Facebook regarding the urgency of our situation for days already but it's not working; I have no money and no donations at this time. I have had to reduce the dogs' portions for several weeeks already and I only have 2 days worth of food left, with maximum cutting...

We can deal with everything else but the lack of food is a huge issue, especially during winter. We're located in the middle of mountains, it gets extremely cold here and it's impossible to keep the dogs healthy if they don't have enough food to eat...

I live and breathe for my dogs and I really hope this campaign will succeed because I have no one else to turn to. I ask for nothing else but to keep these dogs alive..."

2. The dogs are losing weight already, the weakest ones will not be able to overcome the lack of kibble.

###

"All the dogs that are in my shelter have been rescued from very bad and sad situations, I found them hit by cars, shot by hunters, poisoned... Here in Bosnia there is no compassion towards dogs, and no interest in helping them either. These dogs have no one else but me to count on but if I don't find kibble soon, the consequences will be terrible...

The lack of food already affects the dogs greatly, they are losing weight and getting sick more easily, especially for the dogs that came here malnourished, their immune system can’t hold up and it is even more severe because of the cold we’re facing.

This situation cannot last any longer, my dogs' lives are endangered!"

3. Rescued from the pound where he was starved, Hol is extremely skinny and absolutely needs kibble to survive.

###

"Hol is a young male I rescued from the pound a few months ago, even though he's managed to gain some weight since he arrived, he's still visibly skinny. This fact alone speaks volumes about the dogs' living conditions at the pound...

It will be very hard for him to face winter if I can't feed him properly, he's very vulnerable still and needs an even bigger amount of food than others to survive, recover and build up his strength."

4. With the pandemic, Samira lost the majority of the donations that kept the shelter going. Overwhelmed by the difficulties, she can no longer buy kibble.

###

"Donations are our only means of survival, I constantly beg people for help on social media. Unfortunately times are hard for everyone, we have lost a lot of donors. People are scared for their own future and are not in the place to be helping out.

Some people want to help but don't have the means to, but most are not interested in helping altogether. I often get the same answer : “there are people who have nothing to eat and you’re worrying about the dogs?"

It's hard to feed 64 dogs and it's even harder to do so with so little help. I have health issues and it's only me and my husband caring for the dogs, we have no volunteers, no helpers. It's a lot of work and we struggle to do everything, but things would be so much easier if we at least had enough to feed our dogs..."

5. Samira isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"I have been helping animals for 10 years. When I arrived here everyone wanted to get rid of me because there’s a lot of farm animals in the area, and people feared for their safety. They changed their mind when they saw how the shelter was built and that there was no danger for animals or humans.

Although people no longer view our shelter as a threat, they still do not help us in any way. People here think only about themselves and think it’s crazy and pointless to help dogs... At least I'm making a difference in the area as my actions help reduce the number of dogs on the street.

I also found families for many of these dogs and when I see pictures of my dogs with their families, I'm the most proud and happy. In spite of it all, that's what keeps me going."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Samira will not receive any money but 2400 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistic platform in Bosnia.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Bosnia which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

7. Samira's countless calls for help have brought little results; she will not be able to continue without more support.

"I use Facebook for fundraising, I post on my page and in a group but unfortunately it is not enough. I've also tried contacting fondations to get help for my dogs but everyone always gives me the same answer; they are already helping someone else and have their hands full.

I have no funding, no income. Donations from kind-hearted people who want to help are the only thing that makes this possible but sadly, the pandemic has changed a lot of stuff for the worse for us, donations are fewer and so are our adoptions. I really hope this campaign will work, it's my only hope to feed the dogs at this stage."

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

9. In Bosnia, stray dogs are tortured and killed illegally without anyone looking...
