Animal Webaction visited the site 23 January 2022 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Bosnia, Ajla will soon run out of kibble to feed the 90 dogs living at the pound. They will starve if no one helps!

%%%

"The biggest problem for us is the food. When there are donations, they usually last a very short amount of time and no matter how much we use our own incomes to fill in the gap, it's never enough to cover all the the expenses. Our current food stock is running dangerously low and we absolutely cannot reduce the dogs' portions in winter, it'd be a disaster!

The living conditions at the pound, although drastically improved since Dalila, Nejira and myself started to get involved 5 years ago, remain basic : we have dog houses but no heating, dogs struggle to keep warm in midst of the harsh Bosnian winter; they need more food!

It is very difficult for us to bear the fact that we cannot provide the dogs with enough food, it's causing us a lot of sleepless nights. If this campaign succeeds, it would mean the world, because dogs will have enough to eat for the next two months! It would help us sleep more peacefully, and help the dogs face the extreme weather."

2. Already very vulnerable, the dogs in the pound will not survive without kibble: fights will break out, the weakest will not survive!

###

"Several of our dogs are in very poor health, some have problems with parasitic diseases, others have behavorial issues and are traumatised by the bad treatments they received in the past. Once at the pound, they can finally feel safe and recover from this life of abuse and trauma.

We give them love and play with them as much but the most important thing for them and their most basic need remains food. Failing to provide them with enough food or good quality food is heartbreaking for us and it makes the dogs dissatisfied and angry. They become aggressive, attack each other and prey on the weakest ones...

With 90 dogs in the same place, things can degenerate very easily and we really cannot afford stepping into this situation. The dogs need this food to remain calm, happy and healthy! "

3. Weakened by several diseases, Zuta will not be able to recover without kibble!

###

"Zuta is an 8 year-old female. We don't know what happened to her exactly, but we suspect she was abused, she's always very sad, withdrawn and fearful. She had a big problem with parasites and viruses and even though the vet cleaned her up, she still hasn’t recovered.

If we fail to procure a new food stock, Zuta will suffer the most from it. She's still very frail and needs good food to regain strength and recover from her procedure."

4. The pandemic has caused a drop in donations and adoptions... Left with many dogs to feed, Ajla needs help to buy kibble.

###

"Even though the pound is a public facility, the municipality only helps covering the salary of the one worker; everything else we have to fundraise for. We struggled to find money before the pandemic but now it is even harder, donations have dropped because people no longer have jobs and many companies have closed.

Everything has also become more expensive so we get less food for the same amount of money... We love these dogs to death and we always do our best to provide for them, but with fewer donations and fewer adoptions, caring for them has become increasingly difficult.

Our own incomes are sadly not enough to provide food for all of them. We just hope this campaign will succeed because there is nothing more we can do at this stage. We will be indefinitely grateful to anyone who donates any food to us."

5. Ajla isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving

###

"We are 3 volunteers dedicating our time and working together to make the dogs' lives better. We fundraise, publish ads for foster care, ask for material help from people; we help the worker to clean and we play with the dogs as much as we can.

We are most proud of the fact that we have saved the lives of thousands of dogs over the years and managed to find forever homes for many. Sadly, some of our dogs have been there for 6-7 years. Although we give them love and play with them, that's no kind of life...

We hope that the pandemic will pass and that we will manage to find homes for as many dogs as possible, we welcome any help in this regard."

6. If this campaign is successful, Ajla will not receive any money, but 1920 kg of kibble will be delivered from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Bosnia.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Bosnia, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

7. Donations are irregular and not enough to feed the dogs. Ajla does not know who to turn to... This campaign is her last resort.

"We always beg people for donations on social media, ask big companies in our state, organize events online etc... We try to ask everyone we know but apart from Animal Webaction and a German organisation that helps us with donations from time to time, each attempt has been unsuccessful.

The pandemic has brought us less donations, less adoptions, and more problems. Even though we try to set aside money from our own incomes, it's not enough to cover the needs of 90 dogs. We can only hope that this campaign will be successful so we can feed our dogs!"

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The organizer doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Bosnia, stray dogs are tortured and killed illegally without anyone looking...
