Beaten and mistreated, old Kiwi has heart and lung problems...

1. He has been mistreated in many ways...

Kiwi is a 15 years old former hunting dog, who was mistreated a lot. His first owner beat him so badly that he kept his legs deformed!

Then, an old lady adopted him as a guard dog, and made him sleep outside, on the ground, in a cardboard shelter. Kiwi then got sick! When his owner died, we took him in.

2. He coughs a lot because of lung problems!

Kiwi has emphysema. This lung problem causes him to cough a lot, which is very exhausting for him!

3. He has to take treatment for his heart

Out of breath easily, Kiwi also spends a lot of time sleeping. This is because he has a heart condition. So we give him a treatment, to allow his heart to hold on despite everything.

4. Canned food would give him strength for his old age

With age-appropriate canned food, Kiwi could gain strength every day. It would be an opportunity for him to fill up on energy, so that he could spend his old age with peace of mind.

5. Taking care of elderly animals is very expensive...

We take care of 107 dogs and 26 cats. Many of the animals we take in come from abroad, from the street or from private individuals. There are many requests, but we give priority to sick and elderly animals.

Most of them have suffered all their lives... so we want to bring them comfort and allow them to eat their fill. But all this has a cost: 50 000 euros of veterinary expenses last year alone!
