Kidney problems, painful gums, chronic illness: Shinkara is not doing well at all...

1. She had her teeth removed because of gum inflammation...

Shinkara is a 13 year old cat who has had chronic gingivitis for as long as she can remember. Her gums are permanently painful. To limit the inflammation, we had to remove almost all her teeth (only her canines remain).

She also receives injections and a basic treatment from time to time, but we try to do as little as possible, because it could aggravate other health problems she has...

2. Her kidneys are not functioning normally anymore!

Shinkara has kidney failure: she drinks a lot and she is very skinny because her kidneys are not working properly anymore. Taking medicine against her gingivitis could worsen these problems...

3. She has a chronic disease

Shinkara has a coryza that doesn't go away. Her nose is blocked and she is very tired. All these accumulated problems are heavy to bear for her!

4. With canned food, she would have a better chance of getting better

Kidney-friendly canned food that are easy to eat would help Shinkara gain strength, even if she has no teeth to chew on. It would also be a good way for her to take her pills when she has them.

5. The year is just beginning, but it is already very difficult...

The situation is always complicated. There are a lot of bills to pay, especially veterinary bills. The beginning of the year is not easy, because we have difficulties to buy food and blankets for the cats (with the winter, they need it so much!).

It is impossible to organize a lottery to raise funds: it is forbidden by our municipality. With 400 street cats to feed, we don't know how we'll manage...
