Animal Webaction visited the site 24 April 2022 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Hajar has almost no kibble left to feed the 150 street cats that depend on her, they will starve if no one intervenes!

%%%

"The current situation is not good for the 150 stray cats in Salé that I try to feed. To extend my quantities, for the last 15 days I have been feeding them only once a day because their number has increased again. During the month of Ramadan all souks, butcher shops, grocery stores and restaurants are closed, so it is impossible to get leftovers. Today, I have almost nothing left to give the cats...

Cats eat out of garbage, which makes them a little more fragile every day but also for some of them, more aggressive. They fight and the stronger ones eat the food of the weaker ones. The result is catastrophic... I often find kittens dead from infections and starvation and I feel frustrated that I'm not able to do more for the sick and malnourished cats who are always more numerous in the streets... Without me, they are alone and have no one to bring them food!

Donations have sharply decreased and I am terribly short of funds to buy kibble... Those who used to help me have done their best and can no longer help. Unfortunately, people here do not take care of stray cats at all, they neglect them and ignore them! The municipality does not make any effort to find a solution either. This campaign is my last hope, if it fails I will stop feeding street cats because I have no other options at this stage..."

2. Weakened by the disease, little Belle will not survive without kibble.

###

"Belle was born in the street, she is currently 6 months old and suffers from coryza, we have to feed her well and care for her so that her condition doesn't get worse. This infection can be very serious in the long run, turning cats blind and paralyzed.

I can't take her in my shelter because I don't have any more space, so for the moment I have to continue to come and feed her in the street. Belle must continue to eat well to be able to recover as soon as possible. Without kibble, her condition will deteriorate and her coryza may kill her..."

3. Hajar also welcomes 80 fragile cats in her shelter, they too are threatened by the lack of kibble.

"My shelter is full, the situation is deteriorating day after day because I have a lot of new cats that people leave in front of my door. I currently have 80 cats and the vast majority of them suffer from coryza. Moreover, I have been rationing them too for 15 days and they don't eat enough, which makes them even more fragile...

Right now, I have reached the end of every solution I could try, I have posted messages on Facebook to potential supporters who could help me buy kibble in emergency but without results!

I'm afraid, my biggest concern is the idea of having to close the shelter and release my cats to the street. It would break my heart, it's the worst situation my shelter could face, and many cats would not survive... I don't even want to imagine it. Today I feel great despair, if this campaign fails, the fate of my shelter will be totally questioned."

4. Brownie arrived at the shelter recently, he is sick and dependent on Hajar, kibbles are essential to his survival!

###

"Brownie is a 4-month-old kitten who arrived at the shelter a month ago. He was born in the street, and caught coryza. He is very small and in bad shape. His condition is very worrying because he can't take care of himself, I'm afraid that his condition will be getting even worse. He is completely dependent on the kibble I give him, and it is essential for his survival that I can continue to feed him."

5. Due to lack of funds, Hajar is crumbling in debt and can no longer buy kibble.

###

"At the moment, I am suffering from a serious lack of resources and kibble. Street cats I feed are becoming more and more vulnerable and catching infections more frequently. During summer, the number of abandonments will increase even more and if I don't have enough money to feed and care for the cats, I won't be able to continue rescuing them...

Apart from volunteers in the neighborhood who help me to feed as many cats as possible, nobody helps me. The municipality does not support me, they don't give me any help or subsidy. They catch cats and bring them to my shelter without wondering about the sacrifices and actions I do for the benefit of the city...

I feel sad, I don't know what to do anymore, donations are totally down, Moroccans rarely send donations to animal shelters, and they don't recognize my efforts. On the other hand, I owe money to my vet and to the kibble suppliers, I have accumulated huge debts! But if I have to choose, I'd rather help a cat on credit than let him die on the street..."

6. Hajar is not asking for money, only kibbles to keep the cats from starving!

###

"My passion and love for cats gave me the desire and the impulse to open a shelter, through it I contribute to reduce the number of cats in the streets and treat them in a more humane way, I offer them a safe home where they receive the necessary care. Here they are my responsibility, so I give them a lot in terms of money, love, and time, but without kibble, all this will have to stop...

My priority is their well-being and survival, I have saved many cats, I even left my job to take care of abandoned cats, and despite all the problems I face, I am proud that this shelter exists!

At the moment, I am frustrated that I can't help stray cats as I want because of the lack of means, I am the only one in my neighborhood to fight for them, and it is very complicated because expenses are always increasing... I'm afraid I won't be able to go on and I don't know how they will be able to survive without me..."

7. If this campaign is successful, Hajar will not receive any money but 1000 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistical platform in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

8. Hajar calls for help online but it doesn't work, this campaign is her last hope to get kibble.

"At the moment, I hardly get any help. I do my best to find solutions and call out to people because without their support and encouragement, I can't move forward and continue my actions. Since 2019, I receive help from Straycare International for a few sterilizations per month, but it is unfortunately not enough...

Today, I have no other alternative than to call Animal Webaction again to get kibble for my cats, because I am in a dead-end. I publish videos on my Facebook page to alert my situation but nothing really changes... I would like to thank the Animal Webaction community and those who will help me through this campaign because your support is infinitely precious."

9. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.
