1. In Romania, Ildiko is running out of kibble to feed the 380 dogs at her shelter, they will starve if no one intervenes!

%%%

"I need help! My shelter is currently overcrowded with more than 380 dogs, their numbers are constantly increasing and many of them are not eating enough. I am constantly overworked because the boxes are at full capacity... The hot season has already started, which is an additional problem for the dogs because the heat exhausts them! To relieve them, I have to be very careful to give them constantly enough water and kibble because the air is very dry and there is very little natural shade in the shelter...

It is very difficult for me to find money to buy food for almost 400 dogs at the moment... Since the pandemic started a few years ago, I've been struggling to raise donations, and I've reached the point again where I need help feeding my dogs. There was a bakery that used to help us by giving us pieces of bread, but they stopped because they had big budget problems, they even had to lay off employees...

I take care of all the dogs that people neglect and abuse, I really need this campaign to succeed to continue to save these dogs from a fate they don't deserve... I am heartbroken: I have 10 bags of kibble left, that's not even enough for one day! I try to mix them with rice to extend my stock, but this only fills their stomachs, as rice does not provide any nutrients or vitamins: in the long run this diet could kill them!"

2. Dogs are hungry and very agitated, fights might break out in the shelter, Ildiko has to give them kibble very soon to avoid things to get worse.

###

"I have already reduced my dogs' food ration for two weeks now, they are clearly not eating enough and have already started to get anxious, agitated and bark a lot. The extreme temperatures we have in Romania in the summer only make things worse: empty bellies, thirst and heat, no shady place to protect themselves from the sun, the dogs risk killing each other...

I do everything at the shelter, from buying kibble to new rescues, including visits to the vet, cleaning, administration... It is very difficult for me to do everything by myself, the volume of work is too great and the number of dogs is simply too high to function without financial or physical help! I am very stressed, I am doing everything I can, but with the summer coming, the dogs will not survive without kibble... That's why I need this kibble campaign to succeed: so I can feed the dogs and keep the shelter afloat!"

3. Found almost paralyzed in a forest, Pepe is very skinny and weak, without kibble he doesn’t stand a chance at surviving.

###

“I found Pepe near a forest in the area. He was in a very bad shape : he was so weak that he couldn’t even stand, his fur was bad and he had no appetite. I don’t know what happened to him, if he was abandoned or not, but I just took him to the vet for a few days for tests and treatments.

I had to build a kennel just for him because he is anxious and does not get along at all with other dogs, so it is better for him to be on his own at the moment. He is old, very malnourished and still very skinny… Without care and kibble, he does not stand a chance. He needs proper feeding to recover!”

4. Donations and adoptions have dropped, while debts are rising, Ildiko already uses her own income to cover the bills on hold, but she can no longer buy kibble.

###

“Lack of food is my biggest problem right now! I used to fund kibble with my own income and donations, but it’s harder now because donations are so few and everything got more expensive this year because of the war in Ukraine : dog food, medications, vet interventions, fuel, bread, electrical power… Adoptions have also dropped because people are more inclined to adopt dogs from Ukraine. Sadly, I still have a lot of dogs to save here...

Because of all this, my expenses have increased significantly while I already have lots of debt at the vet. I expect the situation to go on like this in the months to come because we will also have to deal with the extreme heat that comes during summer, and this will affect the dogs' health. If they are not fed correctly, the dogs will get sick... Every time a dog needs medical attention, the vet bill grows bigger. At the moment, you are my only hope, I don’t see other options than this campaign to get kibble for my dogs…”

5. Ildiko isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving

###

“I started my association 7 years ago and honestly, I have not seen any evolution in the situation : the number of abandoned dogs keeps on increasing, I bring in the sick and injured ones, those in immediate danger but I am having trouble managing the flow of new dogs. At first, I thought the changes would come soon and I was eager to see them but the only real switch is that there are no dogs on the streets because I manage to find them and take them in, other than that people are still refusing to sterilize their dogs and continue to abandon them.

I don’t have any regrets, I have given my heart and soul to this shelter and it was worth every minute of it: I know I made a big difference for the dogs that were saved, their quality of life and safety. My hope is that I will be able to continue my activity to keep them safe, and I want to thank you for coming again and always helping us when I call. It’s very emotionally comforting to know that there are more people out there that care so much and try to help.”

6. If this campaign is successful, Ildiko will not receive any money but 3000 kg of kibble will be delivered from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Romania.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Romania, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Ildiko desperately calls for help for rescues, adoptions and fundraisings, but she struggles to feed the dogs... this campaign is her last hope to get kibble for them.

“Since the war in Ukraine started, I have had fewer adoptions, that is also an issue that I am hoping to resolve soon: that is why I post on my Facebook page… If adoptions start to pick up again I will have empty boxes and be able to save more dogs!

I am not saving my efforts. I conducted a fundraising on Facebook to raise money to buy 2 pieces of medical equipment that will be very helpful with sick dogs. As for the rest, at the moment there is only one association that helps me a little, they sent me money so I can buy rice and medication for the dogs.

It is definitely not enough, but I haven’t managed to reach new organizations for help… I can see online that everyone in the animals' field is struggling and having a hard time!”

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Romania, it is difficult to find funds for kibbles, there are no aid, no grants, no foundation... Many abandoned dogs die alone in the streets, in complete indifference...
