Animal Webaction
This campaign has failed... Emergency Bosnia 550 dogs hasn't received anything. Why?

It is always a huge disappointment to see a campaign fail, it means that the concerned animals will not receive any help. Unfortunately, we can not ship incomplete campaigns.

When a campaign fails, why can't you at least deliver what has been collected ?

We want to maximize the help we are all bringing to the animals in distress. Our campaign goals are calculated to balance our storage, delivery and manufacturing costs of the offered products.

Delivering failed campaigns would generate too many costs, which would eventually lead to the bankruptcy of the website and leave all the animals that we could have helped alone...

The delivery of unfinished campaigns is also physically impossible for some products (if only 50% of a kennel is financed: we can not cut it in half).

Why can't you at least transfer the collected money to the association ?

Our activity is regulated by the french tax law, it forbides us to transfer money instead of the advertised product (article L 548-1 of the Monetary and Financial Code).

For this reason, when a campaign fails, donations are immediately refunded. If they want to, donors can send this money directly to the association.

If you can't transfer the collected money to the association, why don't you just send it to another one ?

Our activity is regulated by the french tax law, it forbides us to use the money for anything else than the original use announced in the campaign (article L 548-1).

So, unfortunately, we are not allowed to transfer donations from a campaign to another.

What happens to the free clicks assigned to a failed campaign?

Free clicks are saved before being reallocated to other campaigns (free clicks being immaterial, they are not submited to the same obligations than financial donations).

Animal Webaction visited the site 24 September 2022 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Bosnia, Ina has almost no kibble left to feed the 550 dogs at her shelter. They will starve if no one helps!

%%%

"Due to inflation, the price of kibble has risen by 50-70% in the past few months and new price increases are being announced all the time. We are experiencing a big drop in donations as well, some people are losing their jobs, others are saving up for fear of further inflation, everybody is affected one way or another and this affects us in return too! No matter how much we try to alert our community about our situation, people are reluctant to donate...

We have never been in such a situation and we have never had less funding. We have huge debts at the vet and our food supply is never constant. We received a few donations after we published a cry for help on our social media a few days ago but it's only a short respite, it will barely last 2 days. Unfortunately, food supply is not something we can postpone, our dogs need to eat every day! And with the arrival of winter, we really fear for the future of our dogs. We absolutely have to find kibble where the consequences will be heartbreaking..."

2. Malnutrition affects the many fragile dogs in the shelter and prevents Ina from saving other dogs from the pound... This kibble campaign is vital for everyone!

###

"The current lack of resources is forcing us to buy lower-quality food, which means the vulnerable dogs are getting skinnier and weaker because they don't get proper nourishment. And the thing is, we have many vulnerable dogs in our care... Most of the dogs at our shelter have been rescued from the local pound, where they are euthanized after 14 days if no one claims them. Every single one of these dogs comes here malnourished, sick, injured, or traumatized. Often times, they're even all at once...

For these extreme cases, extensive veterinary care and great nutrition are essential! If one or the other is missing, the path to a full recovery is impossible. And because we're already struggling to provide for our own dogs, we've also had to stop rescuing more dogs from the death pound. That makes us really sad because we know they will be tortured and killed...

We have been leading a campaign to try and have the pound closed for weeks now, we alarmed the public and we sent a petition of 2435 signatures to the local authorities, but they chose to ignore us...Until we can put an end to this torture camp, we are the only ones who can save the dogs in the area and give them a chance to survive. But without kibble, it's impossible! We desperately need this kibble delivery to continue the rescues and continue to care for the dogs already under our roof!

3. Abandoned by hunters, disoriented and undernourished, Isak needs kibble to gain weight and survive the upcoming winter!

###

"Isak was abandoned by some hunters, he was roaming around the village for about 10 days, without anything to eat. When he got starved and scared he finally allowed us to approach him and we took him to the shelter straight away - that was around 2 -3 weeks ago. Even after this amount of time spent under our care, Isak is still visibly undernourished and very skinny. He absolutely needs to gain weight and eventually recover, the lack of kibble will otherwise be fatal for him..."

4. The association is overwhelmed with debts and donations are too low :  Ina can no longer buy kibble for her dogs!

###

"As a non-profit organisation, we are only funded by donations from good people. The problem is that our donations have dropped significantly over the last few months and we are not able to run our shelter without them! We have a huge veterinary debt and the amount of money we need each month just to feed our 550 dogs is staggering... Unfortunately, our finances are extremely uncertain and every day new dogs are abandoned outside the shelter!

We really want to answer all the calls, to help all the animals in need, but we can't do it alone, we are not invincible! We don't get any help from the state, the city or big organisations. We really need the Animal Webaction fundraiser to succeed so we can get kibble over the next few weeks and make sure our dogs are fed, healthy and protected."

5. Ina isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"I decided to create the association because I saw a problem which was not being addressed by the authorities, but was instead aggravated, so I wanted to create something sustainable and humane, to try to make the authorities see that there is a humane alternative to the kill pound... Our actions consist of rescuing dogs in need, caring for them, feeding them and getting them adopted! But that's not all : we also help people sterilize their dogs and teach them how to properly keep them. We work on educating the people not to abandon or torture animals...

We really believe that if we want to see some change happen in regards to animal welfare in Bosnia, it has to come from the people first! Because sadly, our authorities are not concerned by these issues. They hire dogcatchers who are paid to bring as many strays as possible to the kill pound, and their work stops there... The money that the authorities allegedly allocate to the pound is not spent on providing food, shelter or veterinary care for the dogs and no financial reports are available to the public, which is indicative of non-transparent activity. In our association, we are just a few animal lovers who do our best to save these innocent souls from terrible cruelty... But we really need help to be able to continue doing so!"

6. If this campaign succeeds, Ina will not receive any money but 1440 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistic platform in Bosnia.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Bosnia which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Calls for donations are not bearing much fruit and partner associations have already done their utmost to help. This campaign is Ina's only hope to feed the dogs!

"Back when we started, we had fewer dogs, the food was cheaper, and we had more people with regular income supporting us. But now, we have double the number of dogs, much more expenses and we struggle to keep going as the whole world has sunk into an economic crisis that no one seems to see the end of...

We are still being helped by our historical partner Prijedor Emergency but since they are a small organization, they have been affected by the inflation as well and cannot help us as much as it's needed. We've contacted other organizations to see if they could help us fill in the gap but so far the only response we've ever received is that they are already supporting someone else... At this stage, we truly hope that this kibble campaign will succeed because it's our only way to feed the dogs!"

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.
