1. In Bosnia, Samira is almost out of kibble to feed her shelter's 72 dogs. They will starve if no one helps!

%%%

"At the shelter, there are currently 72 dogs under my care and this number won’t diminish with the drop in adoptions... Besides, the global crisis hits my rescue hard: with rising prices and tremendously decreasing donations, getting kibble has become a real issue; my biggest one...

This lack of kibble puts me and my dogs in such a terrible situation. Their portions have been rationed for days now… It’s hard for me to see that they’re hungry, nervous, and that I can only feed them with less, poor quality kibble each day. I need help!

But inflation impoverishes so many people that they rather focus on their own situations or on humans in need than donating for dogs - most don’t get why I care for these dogs… I breathe and live for them and I’m scared of being unable to feed them. This campaign has to succeed to save them from starvation!"

2. The dogs are hungry, sick and often fight! If this kibble campaign fails, the escalation will be dramatic...

###

"Feeding my dogs with less and less kibble unfortunately affects them a lot: they don’t eat their fill, they become very loud and more aggressive. What scares me the most when they get nervous are the fights and they happen a lot! I have to be around to prevent these from happening! It’s a constant source of stress… It requires continual vigilance, as there will always be stronger, more dominant dogs than others. The weaker dogs get easily badly injured in dog fights and in the worst cases, some can get killed in those fits of rage…

Most of my dogs were rescued from awful living conditions, either from the local death pound or from the streets. There, dogs are underfed, neglected, abused and hardly surviving… Their traumatic past has made them particularly vulnerable. Some of them are fragile and prone to allergies, skin diseases or ill processing, so, reduced portions of low quality kibble impact their health too much… Keeping my dogs safe and alive is my top priority in the world, so it would be unbearable if anything happened to them because I can’t provide them with kibble…”

3. Alma was rescued from the pound: she's emaciated and needs kibble to gain weight and strength...

###

"Alma is a shy, but very sweet, five-year-old dog I rescued from the death pound… Abandoned dogs who end up at that awful place experience so much trauma that they eventually carry it for the rest of their lives… Alma is therefore not comfortable around humans: she’s still very scared and still doesn’t trust them.

She’s underfed and extremely thin… Because of the kibble issue, it’s a struggle for her to put on some much needed weight… I’m concerned that the lack of kibble is particularly taking a toll on her: she seems very weakened lately… I’m so scared her health will badly, rapidly, decline without this kibble delivery!"

4. Samira can only count on donations to get kibble, but they're scarcer than ever: this campaign is her last resort to feed the dogs!

###

"I’m unemployed and have no income, so I exclusively rely on people’s donations to take care of and feed my dogs! Buying necessities like kibble has become very difficult with inflation. Knowing that my shelter is located far from the city, I also have to travel long distances to find some... The skyrocketing petrol prices only make my already precarious situation worse!

I really need help… The donations I get aren’t enough to cover all the expenses for my dogs. Prices have doubled and I already have debts at the vet, so I’m often forced to postpone vet appointments because of my financial situation… It impacts my actions a lot since many rescue dogs are medical cases.

Donations are decreasing and the interest towards dogs too… There’s no longer empathy towards pets when it comes to donating, as the global economy is plunging… I understand people’s anxiety, but what is at stake if this kibble campaign fails are the well-being and survival of other living beings: my dogs!"

5. Samira isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"I moved to this small rural area to rescue dogs from the local death pound, where they euthanise dogs. My life is now dedicated to saving and taking care of many dogs and it’s my commitment. I had to sacrifice my family life for this shelter… I am usually in charge of everything on my own, from checking the dogs’ health and healing them, to some minor fixing at the shelter, cleaning and of course, feeding. It’s very difficult to handle so many responsibilities by myself! Yet I can’t imagine doing anything other than cherishing and taking care of these dogs…

I’ll never understand why dogs (mostly hounds) are abandoned, once they’re considered as “useless” by their owners, leaving them to their own devices. My shelter is the only place paying attention to these strays… It’s their only hope not to get killed, to die or to starve. My “job” consists of making sure my dogs are well and finding them loving new homes… Sadly, adoptions are lower, just like donations. They need so little to be happy; they really deserve love and full bellies - that's why this kibble delivery must happen!"

6. If this campaign succeeds, Samira will not receive any money but 1440 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistic platform in Bosnia.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Bosnia which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

7. Samira's supporters have tried their best to help, but it's not enough to feed her dogs: she relies on this campaign's success to get kibble!

"I use my Facebook page to share information on the shelter’s situation and the dogs, especially new rescues, updates on their health and dogs for adoption... I also mostly use it to ask for help when it comes to vet care and kibble donations. But it works less and less...

I have a small support group based in Britain that reaches a European audience of animal lovers… Unfortunately, I don’t get enough donations to cover everything and especially kibble… Many are no longer able to help despite their good will and desire to.

It’s just getting harder and harder for me to get kibble, the number of people answering my pleas for help constantly decreases… I hope there will be good people to make this Animal Webaction campaign a success! It will save my dogs from such a terrible fate: starvation and death.”

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.
