Lilou is an 11 year old female, who was used for breeding. Her puppies were used as live bait for fighting dogs! She ended up being seized for abuse and we took her in.
When she arrived, Lilou had leishmaniasis, a parasitic disease that can be fatal. She also had inguinal hernias: her intestines were going down into her body. She also has malformations in her hips.
So she had to have surgery and treatments for all of this, which was very hard on her. She now has to take treatments.
After all that she has been through, Lilou will need a complete and qualitative diet. With age-appropriate canned food, she could safely refuel. It would also be an opportunity for her to take her medication more easily.
Between the veterinary emergencies and two new unavoidable treatments, our association has no more money. We have even been forced to postpone some essential veterinary operations.
For the same reasons as us, more and more shelters are forced to close. What will happen if no one can take care of the animals left behind with dignity?
