Animal Webaction visited the site 03 May 2023 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Elise is almost out of kibble to feed her shelter’s 165 dogs. They will starve if no one helps!

%%%

"At the shelter we currently have 165 dogs in our care and this number is increasing. People are abandoning their dogs more and more, especially if they are ill or pregnant females and newborn puppies... This situation leads to an increase in the need for kibble and care, which means more and more expenses...

Since the prices are going up, it is really hard to keep up with the supply of kibble for the dogs. I have so little left in stock that I have no choice but to ration them and mix them with leftovers, bread or tins, depending on what's available... It's unfortunate because they don't eat properly or enough!

Providing for the dogs with so many financial difficulties and very few donations is really hard... Each new dog taken in represents a huge additional cost and I'm afraid that if we don't find solutions to get kibble, we won't be able to take in any more dogs at all and my dogs will all end up starving..."

2. The shelter is saturated and the effects of the lack of kibble are already being felt: the dogs are hungry, sick and extremely thin!

###

"In a few days, there won't be any kibble left at the shelter! It's difficult to feed all these mouths, knowing that the shelter is crowded... The food I can give them to make up for the lack of kibble depends essentially on my meagre fluctuating means; so it's clearly not qualitative, nor nourishing enough and the result is that their health is impacted by this diet! They develop skin diseases, digestive problems and some lose too much weight. This worries me a lot and makes me very sad...

We can't afford to take in vulnerable animals if we lack the resources to ensure their well-being and survival... It's tragic because there are so many stray dogs in need! Their lives are awful on the streets, some are even taken away to be killed, others are tortured... I will be so devastated for all these dogs, if the campaign fails. Our shelter dogs will all end up getting seriously ill and I really won't be able to take in any more dogs..."

3. Laika remains weakened by the deprivation she has endured and has advanced scabies: she is counting on this delivery to heal and regain her strength!

###

"Laika is a 3 year old female who was rescued by a lady who brought her to the shelter in a state of extreme emaciation... Everything indicated that this poor dog had suffered from severe malnutrition and deprivation...

Her current state of health is not the best: Laika suffers from advanced scabies, especially on her back, which makes her lose a lot of hair.

If she is deprived of kibble, it would be particularly dangerous for her: she absolutely needs sufficient amounts of kibble, in parallel with her treatment against scabies, to regain strength and recover completely!"

4. Elise can no longer cope with the drop in donations and her means are insufficient in the face of inflation: she can no longer buy kibble!

###

"I used to finance kibble with my own money and donations, because I had fewer dogs and the prices of kibble were affordable... But now the prices have gone up and so has the number of dogs in my care. I finance my actions thanks to donations and sometimes with the help of my husband... But lately, donations have been decreasing significantly. Sometimes the shelter's visitors promise to donate, but in the end, these are just empty promises!

The current lack of resources means that I have to reduce the budgets for operations in order to feed the animals in the shelter as best I can... We also have debts that we are gradually paying off, not without difficulty. I have tried to contact other organisations for help, but to no avail. It's hard not to give up when we have so little funding to continue our work. If this campaign fails, it will have serious consequences for the shelter, but also for my ability to help other animals in distress!"

5. Elise is not asking for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving.

###

"My involvement in animal protection goes back to 1995, almost 30 years of sacrifice for this shelter. I have experienced moments of joy and weakness with these dogs, and I have given my body and soul to this shelter! Our association and our shelter allow abandoned animals to find a safe place to live and not to remain on the street. We also look for foster homes for them whenever possible.

For me, one of the greatest achievements of our association is the dispensary! It allows us to offer free care to the poorest people's dogs... In fact, we have noticed an increase in the number of dogs to be treated in recent months. Here, if our association did not exist, there would be no rescues, no free care, no shelter, to help the vulnerable and abandoned animals of the region! But I can't manage everything on my own and it's important that people support our actions more, so we can do even more for the animals!"

6. If this campaign succeeds, Elise will not receive any money but 2000 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics centre in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistics centre in Morocco, which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

7. The shelter's supporters have already done everything they can to help Elise get kibble: she is running out of options, this campaign must not fail!

###

"Since the last Animal Webaction campaign, there has been no change in the help we receive, whether from sponsors, partnerships or material help... My appeals for help and my online kitty are not working well and I am not getting many donations...

We feel a bit abandoned by potential benefactors who do not help us, even if we are well aware of the current economic crisis that affects many people... We still receive the government subsidy, but it is dedicated to fund the dispensary's actions and the resulting debts to the vet...

Our current priority is really kibble supply, as this is crucial to enable us to continue our work for the dogs. We really need help and this campaign is all we have left for them!"

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail...

Liste des récoltes échouées

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the beneficiary receives nothing and the buyers get a refund.

9. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies . It is very difficult to find funding for kibble, many dogs remain starving in the street!
