1. In Bosnia, Samira has almost no kibble left to feed the 65 dogs at her shelter: they will starve if no one helps!

%%%

"There are currently 65 dogs at the shelter and the number of adoptions remains extremely low, we've only had two in the last few months. I do my best to provide the essentials for the dogs, but it's difficult and there are more and more of them needing help. I think the economic situation plays a big part in this; inflation and financial insecurity are driving many people to give up their pets. And of course, there are always the hunters who leave their dogs in the woods when they no longer need them...

Today, our situation has reached its peak. Donations are dwindling, the global crisis has affected everyone, and although some friends offer to help, we don't receive enough to feed all our dogs. My dogs don't eat enough, and it's very hard for me to see them suffer. Today we have 5 bags of kibble left, which will only last 2-3 days at most if I continue to ration their portions!

Supply problems are weighing heavily on my morale. I'd love to live in a world where we didn't have to worry about being able to offer our dogs a decent meal, but unfortunately, that's not our reality... We have to fight for every bag of kibble, and as things stand, I don't know how we'll be able to feed them if this campaign fails. I really hope it works out... I just want my dogs to be fed and happy!"

2. The dogs are already suffering the consequences of the lack of kibble: nervousness, lethargy, weight loss... Samira fears a disaster if this campaign fails!

###

“At the shelter, the lack of kibble is really affecting the dogs. They're not in good shape, struggling to put on weight. They're also visibly more nervous, which makes them fight more often. On the other hand, some of them are lethargic and sad... Times are hard for every single one of them.

If the kibble shortage continues, we'll be faced with our worst fears. The dogs' stress will increase and the health of the most vulnerable will deteriorate, which could force us to release them onto the streets, where they'll have to fend for themselves... This thought is unbearable!

In our region, people turn their heads away from stray dogs. I'm the only one who can offer them a home, food and safety. I'm their only hope of survival! I'd be devastated if this campaign failed... Each dog is a part of my heart, they all need me and I need help in return to continue helping them, for as long as I live!”

3. Miša has undergone surgery, she needs to regain her strength urgently!

###

"I rescued Miša from the pound in Prača, she's been at the shelter for a few years now. Recently, when everything seemed to be going well, she developed an inflamed anal gland. She suffered a lot and although her operation went well, she remains very weak and is recovering slowly... I'm afraid she'll get worse if she doesn't eat enough kibble. I really don't have enough left to keep everyone happy! However, many dogs need to regain their strength at the shelter, and Miša is clearly one of them...  Only this delivery will enable him to heal properly!"

4. Exhausted, short of donations and hit hard by inflation, Samira no longer knows how to feed her dogs!

###

"Inflation is hitting us like never before. Prices are ridiculously high, basic necessities are now a luxury. I receive fewer and fewer donations, whereas I can only rely on them to provide everything my dogs need: kibble, sterilizations, veterinary care... I have debts at the vet's and lately I've even had to postpone treatments due to lack of funds. These are really difficult times we're going through, and although I'm determined to help every dog I can, I'm not as strong as I used to be.

My health is fragile and only my husband and I are at the shelter. I had a bad fall recently trying to repair the roof of a dog shelter that had been broken by the heavy storms. I sprained my arm and hurt my neck. I can still do things and get around, but I can't do the more demanding tasks at the moment. Most of the work is therefore done by my husband Ifet, but the load is very heavy for him too...

This campaign is a ray of hope for us. We need help, with 65 dogs in the shelter and who knows how many more of these magnificent creatures depending on us to save and feed them. We can't abandon them, but we can't do it without help either!"

5. Samira isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"I could play with and cuddle my dogs for hours! The love they give me, and we give each other, is my favorite part of having this shelter. Caring for them feeds my soul and my greatest motivation is their happiness, especially when they find a new home and the love they truly deserve! This will always be the force that drives me to continue this mission.

Recently, a lady from Scotland contacted us to adopt one of our dogs with an injured leg. The news brought tears to my eyes! Unfortunately, our adoptions are still very low... I'd love to see more people interested in our dogs, they're all so wonderful!

But even if most of the dogs in our care don't get the chance to be adopted, my mission remains to protect them and offer them the chance of a better life than the one they knew on the streets, where they are exposed to various dangers and inhuman treatment the extent of which I cannot describe... Over the years, and despite the difficulties we've encountered, we've saved many lives! That's what we're most proud of, and why we know we have to keep up the fight."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Samira will not receive any money but 1360 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics centre in Bosnia.

Animal Webaction has a logistics centre in Bosnia which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

7. Samira and her few supporters have already done their utmost to get kibble: this campaign is her last hope...

"The only social network I use is Facebook. On my profile, I tell people about the situation in the shelter and ask for help - food, medicine, hay.... There are always a few friends who are willing to help as much as they can, but unfortunately it's not enough. A lot of kibble is needed to meet the needs of all our dogs!

Generally speaking, it's hard to get donations because people don't understand the situation we're in. It's clear that as time goes by and various crises hit our society, the involvement of outsiders also diminishes, as everyone is fighting for their lives!

Nevertheless, I don't think we should lose our empathy just yet. We need to get back on our feet and start helping each other again. Right now, our number one problem is food, and my only hope of solving it is the success of this campaign. I hope everyone will unite to help us, because if our dogs have full bellies, then we can overcome anything!"

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail...

9. In Bosnia, stray dogs are tortured and killed illegally without anyone looking...
