1. In Serbia, Gorica has run out of kibble to feed the 127 dogs in her shelter. They will starve if no one intervenes!

"I am currently taking care of 127 dogs, with two dogs going up for adoption in August. Lack of food is our main problem, despite not being the only one. They are eating bones right now, that is all I can afford, I am not able to fund better quality food. I feel bad about that but I have to be honest.

Food has become more expensive, everything has become more expensive, and I have had to face huge financial costs due to my health issues lately, which leaves me unable to buy any kibble for the dogs at all. I used to spend my pension on them because they are a priority, but if I don't help myself first now, they will also suffer the most because of it. That's why I have to be well, so that they can be better too. I have a very hard time dealing with those challenges.

I am very sad, unhappy and depressed. I hardly sleep, I worry a lot. I personally don't know how I'm going to handle it, I'm not in good health, I'm mentally bad because I can't provide them with better living
conditions, and all that together makes a very difficult situation. We need this campaign, and I am afraid it might not succeed, it is like a nightmare for me. But I believe that people will recognize that I really need help for these dogs."

2. Malnutrition is already affecting the dogs' health, Gorica fears the worst for the weakest dogs!

###

"The lack of resources has lead the dogs to be fed with lower quality food. They haven't had kibble for a month now, I can only give them bones instead. I've already noticed that they are suffering from digestive problems, it is bad for them to only eat bones, I am very sad about it. I have to find better food for them to keep them well.

This affects their health, as they need a nutritionally rich diet that I cannot give them. It is even more important for endangered dogs who are already suffering from some health issues, and who can only deteriorate if they don't have proper nutrition.

In case of lack of food, the consequences would be dramatic. Even when I tried to reduce their portions, it created chaos between them. They fight, are nervous and irritable, I desperately need to be able to feed them to keep them calm.  This campaign is our only salvation"

3. Struck by distemper when she was just a few months old, Sarka remains weakened and marked by the after-effects of the disease. She needs kibbles to survive!

###

"I found Sarka abandoned as a puppy and decided to take her in the shelter. She was afflicted with distemper, her neurological system had been completely wrecked by temperature. She is still suffering from delayed jaw movement, and eats really slowly.

She is particularly endangered by the lack of kibble as her health is already fragile, she needs good quality food to be able to cope. And she cannot fight for food with other dogs, she cannot fend for herself, I absolutly need to provide for her."

4. Gorica is faced with serious health problems, which are weakening her and adding to her difficulties. She can't find any kibble!

###

"My health condition is bad at the moment, I have never been in such a difficult condition. I've had to undergo several treatments and I really struggled. Then I broke my femur, so now it takes a few more weeks for the fracture to heal, I am still in pain, but I hope the recovery will progress well. I really have a lot of
problems, but I always try to look at the bright and positive side.

Fortunately, a foreign organisation is helping me with workers because I can't afford them, their help means a lot to me and if it wasn't for them the dogs wouldn't exist, and neither would the shelter until I get better. They do everything necessary around the shelter, and they really love dogs, it is important for me that they are cared for with love.

I try to be among the dogs at least a little during the day, I sit in a wheelchair and they come to cuddle. Mentally, it is very difficult for me to bear not being able to take care of them,  I am truly happiest when I am
there for them. I am trying honestly as much as I can to take care of them and also to recover as fast as possible."

5. Her medical costs are putting a strain on Gorica's meagre resources, and the association only receives very few donations. She can no longer buy kibble.

###

"My recent health problems have caused me huge financial expenses. I paid close to 300 € for
just infusions and injections within five days. I am of course not able to save other dogs right now, but I need to at least provide for those in the shelter.

It is always difficult to provide them with food, but I've managed for years. Now, the situation is really critical, and I'm in a tight spot. There has been absolutly no significant help that could improve the situation on the long term. One day passersby brought two bags of kibble, and we received around 85 euros from a company, other than this there have been no donations lately.: I'm very grateful for that, but it's not enough.

We are missing a lot, starting from food, to my better health, more dog houses,; partitions in the yard so that I can separate the dogs and much more, the list is long... But for now, the absolute priority is to provide them with food."

6. Gorica isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep her dogs from starving.

###

" I opened the shelter in 2019 and the number of dogs was incomparably smaller. I remember, I started with about 7 dogs, and everything was much easier. I was healthy, enthusiastic, full of hope that everything would go well. However, the number of dogs increased over the years and everything became more difficult.

Of course, I have never repented, I enjoy taking care of them, but life is sometimes difficult and puts us to various tests and challenges. My desire to help them, to save them, love them, and take care of them has always been stronger than all obstacles.

Now the situation is very difficult, but I still do not lose hope that the shelter will survive and that the dogs will be happy in it."

7. If this campaign succeeds, Gorica will not receive any money but 2000 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Serbia.

Animal Webaction has a logistics platform directly in Serbia, which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

8. Gorica's few supporters are already doing their utmost. They too can no longer afford to buy kibble and are counting on this campaign.

###

" Appart from the very previous help from Harmony Fund who pays for the workers, we don't have any other cooperation. I have Tara, a foreign volunteer who lives in America and does as much as she can to help me, but she cannot find new donors. Recently, my neighbor Gordana started helping me, she sometimes makes a post on social networks, but that is not enough for people to learn more about the asylum and to start helping more than before.

I am an old woman and I do not know much about using the Internet and new ways of communication, I don't understand computers, so it is difficult to ask for donations online. I really don't know how to find new organisations to help me.

I discovered you and the help I receive from you really means a lot to me. Everything else is unknown to me, and I don't have anyone who can help me with it."
