"Our stocks of kibble are completely dry. With 178 hungry dogs in my care, every day is an ordeal... I'm doing my best, but I can't ignore the fact that they're malnourished. All I can do at the moment is buy a bag from time to time, which is far from enough. Without donations, it's impossible for me to replenish my stock of kibble! I see the sad looks on their faces and their weakening bodies, and it breaks my heart.
All these dogs are counting on me, but without enough support, I feel helpless in the face of the scale of the task. They're not just animals, they're my protégés, my companions. Fear gnaws at me, fear of not being able to meet their most basic needs. In fact, at this stage I don't even think we can talk about fear any more, but about reality... This campaign is my last hope that a solution will soon be found. Kibble is not a luxury, it is an absolute necessity, it is vital for my dogs!"
"The lack of kibble is seriously affecting the immune defences of the dogs at the refuge. I can see them getting thinner by the day, and the most fragile are the first to be affected; their already precarious health is deteriorating at an alarming rate.
Hunger has also upset the dynamics of the group, with the most vulnerable being dominated and the days punctuated by fights. I try to intervene to ease the tension, but the lack of kibble makes the situation almost untenable. Each new day without kibble increases the tension and I'm really worried that the conflicts are going to get worse...
The constant agitation of the dogs makes every task, every gesture, ten times more complicated, in the midst of already gruelling days punctuated by the search for kibble. These dogs, who suffered so much before finding refuge here, deserve better. They deserve peaceful days, a full belly and the certainty of being safe! Their survival depends entirely on my ability to feed them, and I'm pinning all my hopes on this campaign to achieve that..."
"In the hope of bringing relief to my protégés, I have placed donation boxes in several areas of the city. Unfortunately, they often remain desperately empty. I also tried to weave a chain of solidarity online; many people promised to come to our aid, but the promises remained empty.
I turned to my close friends and family for temporary help. They all know how much these dogs mean to me. But despite all my efforts, the donations haven't improved and the stock of kibble remains empty. In a burst of hope, I went into debt, thinking that this would give me a breath of fresh air. But the debts to the supplier kept piling up, and I found myself in an even more delicate situation...
Every day I feel this heaviness, this responsibility. The kibble has run out and without it, my peace of mind is dwindling. But even in the face of these mountains of obstacles and rejections, the thought of giving up doesn't cross my mind. These dogs are counting on me. Their looks, full of hope and confidence, are my daily motivation. I can't let them down!"
"All the dogs I've rescued from dangerous situations or abandonment have become a part of my heart. They are all unique, all precious, but without kibble, everything gets complicated. Hunger breeds despair, and despair breeds tension. Fights become more frequent, even between the most docile dogs!
Each dog in the shelter has its own story, its own past, but they all have the same need: a full bowl of food to keep them going! I'm not looking for miracles. I just want to have enough to feed them, enough to ensure the well-being they deserve. Without kibble, the shelter can't operate, and I can't fulfil my role as protector. It's part of my promise to them that's crumbling... After all the hard work to save these dogs, to see them threatened, is unbearable!"
"It's difficult for me to describe the nature of the bond I have with these animals, and what they mean to me. These dogs are much more than just animals to me. They are my family, my friends, my refuge. They are the fuel that fuels each of my days. Their well-being is my mission and every morning, as soon as the first ray of sunshine appears, I get down to work for them.
Behind every dog is a story, often a painful one. Stories of abandonment, neglect and cruelty. And I carry each of them with me, like a silent burden. Am I doing enough? Can I really protect them from this world that sometimes seems so cold and indifferent? These questions go round and round in my head.
I'm surrounded by a pack of loyal friends, but loneliness sometimes overwhelms me, accentuated by each abandonment, each new arrival. I dream of a world where each of them would find a loving home, and where I wouldn't have to worry about the next bag of kibble. They deserve so much more than what they have known, much more than what I can offer them sometimes…”
