Zorro is a 16-year-old cat, who had a stroke a month ago. Sadly, accident has caused him to lose his sight and required two days of hospitalisation.
With age, Zorro's kidneys are no longer working as well as they used to be, meaning they no longer effectively filter toxins out of his body. He suffers from what is known as kidney failure. This condition has caused him to lose a significant amount of weight in recent months.
Just recently, Zorro developed an abscess on his paw. As the wound was oozing, we started him on antibiotic tablets. At the moment, he has a significant limp and is struggling to move around.
Made vulnerable by the trials he's facing, Zorro needs a lot of rest. With blankets, he would have a cosy place to rest and recuperate, whilst remaining comfortably shielded from the cold.
During the warmer weather, animals find it easier to fall ill and lose weight. This summer has been particularly challenging in this respect.
I am alone in dealing with all of this: for 12 years now, I've been getting up at 5am every morning without a day off. It's not an option for me to leave animals in need to fend for themselves!
