Animal Webaction visited the site 21 October 2023 and confirms the situation described below.
"The supply of kibble in the shelter is dwindling by the day, and concern is mounting. In a few days, there will be nothing left to put in the bowls. Portions are already being reduced to try and make what's left last, but this strategy can only be a temporary solution. The dogs don't understand why their rations are decreasing. I can see in their eyes, a mixture of confusion and hunger...
The lack of funds makes the purchase of kibble impossible. The donations that arrive at the shelter are precious, but insufficient to cover the purchase of kibble, especially with rising prices worsening the situation. As the days go by, the source of anguish persists...
This campaign is much more than an initiative; it's a huge source of hope for the dogs and for me. Without this delivery, the shelter won't be able to fulfill its most basic mission: to feed and ensure the survival of the dogs who depend on us! The total absence of kibble would create immediate consequences that neither my dogs nor I could bear."
"If we don't find a quick solution to renew the kibble stock, the consequences for the dogs will be serious. Weight loss would be rapid, further weakening their already precarious physical condition. Their immune systems, already weakened, would be put to the test, reducing their resistance to infection and disease, and compromising their ability to recover from illness.
And that's not all. The shortage of kibble could also affect their behavior. I already fear aggressive behavior, turning the shelter into a place of tension rather than a haven of peace.
I pray that this campaign succeeds and that the kibble arrives before these devastating effects become an irreversible reality for the dogs! The supply of kibble is a constant battle that I cannot afford to lose. These dogs are not just animals, they are beings who depend on me for their survival and their future..."
"I've tried everything, really everything, and yet kibble is still sorely lacking. I've approached suppliers hoping to obtain kibble at preferential rates, without success. I contacted the authorities to ask for help, but the process was fruitless and time-consuming. I explored partnerships with brands that might have been able to provide support, but no collaboration came to fruition. I made appeals on social networks, but they didn't have the desired effect.
I've exhausted all options, and despite everything, the kibble shortage persists. This is not just a question of comfort for the dogs; it's a situation that can turn tragic. The lack of response to my many requests weighs heavily on the dogs, who depend entirely on me for their food. The tension increases daily, feeding an undeniable sense of urgency. I fear that time is not on our side..."
"The situation at the shelter is getting worse by the day. The lack of kibble has immediate repercussions: we can't take in new dogs, because we simply don't have enough to feed them. There's also a long-term impact: our efforts to prepare dogs for adoption are thwarted by the lack of food. It's a vicious circle. Our regular donors may begin to doubt our effectiveness, because how can we talk about animal protection if we can't even provide these animals with a basic meal?
The absence of kibble jeopardizes not only the survival of the dogs, but also the trust of those who believe in our mission. This is not a cry of alarm, it's a bitter observation that could become a reality... Kibble, the mainstay of all our work, is sorely lacking. I look at these dogs and I know that time is running out."
"The days at the shelter are exhausting and long, but fatigue can't get the better of me. It's not just about caring for the dogs; my dream is a Morocco where every dog has its place and is respected. This fight is much bigger than simply saving animals.
Faced with this mission, I often feel an overwhelming isolation. The incomprehension of some people doesn't help, but despite everything, I don't give up. There are moments of sadness, of course, but they are balanced by small victories. Seeing a dog regain his health and regain a taste for life thanks to our care, for example, is a glimmer of hope.
Giving up is not an option. These dogs depend on us for more than just their needs; they depend on us for their dignity, for a chance at a better life. The road is hard and sometimes lonely, but every little success tips the scales a little more towards hope. It's not easy, but it's necessary."
