1. In Serbia, Sladja has almost run out of kibble to feed the 126 dogs in her shelter. They'll starve if nobody helps them!

%%%

"With only five days' worth of kibble ahead of us, the prospect of an imminent shortage is very real and is causing us great concern. The number of dogs at the shelter has increased significantly and so has our need for kibble, far exceeding our current resources. I'm forced to reduce portions to try and prolong the life of the remaining stock, but even these efforts don't seem to be enough. I can see the direct consequences of this reduction on the dogs' health - their energy decreases, their eyes lose their sparkle.

Despite our attempts to economize, the situation continues to deteriorate. I feel deep anguish when I think of these dogs who rely entirely on me for their survival. They have nowhere else to go, no one else to turn to! This kibble campaign is our last hope of averting a catastrophic food crisis. Without it, I fear the worst for our four-legged companions. They depend on this food to survive!"

2. The lack of kibble poses a serious threat to the shelter's precarious balance: starving, the dogs are likely to fight without this delivery!

###

"The day-to-day running of our shelter is becoming a real headache. The lack of kibble is threatening more than just our dogs' health; it's also undermining the fragile peace within the shelter. Already, tensions are being felt, and I can see signs of increased competition for food. This situation inexorably increases the risk of fights and injuries, threatening the safety of all our protégés.

I fear that some of them will succumb in fights, or for lack of adequate food. It's a terrifying reality. Besides, the depletion of our current stock makes it almost impossible to take in new dogs in distress. I find myself torn between my desire to save more and the food constraints that cruelly limit us. This critical situation leaves no room for optimism. Only outside help can now prevent us from plunging into a chaos from which our dogs would be the first to suffer!"

3. Appeals to the community and attempts to negotiate with kibble suppliers have come to nothing: Sladja has reached a dead-end!

###

"I have tried hard to find solutions, but each attempt ended in failure. I approached several kibble manufacturers, hoping to obtain discounts, but my requests went unanswered. Similarly, my attempts to negotiate with stores for donations came to nothing.

I also tried to mobilize our support community, asking them for small contributions, but this didn't have the impact I'd hoped for. Even our initiatives such as calendar sales, raffles and lotteries have not met with the success needed to provide for our dogs. Our appeals to the expatriate community have not met with any greater response.

Faced with these repeated failures, we find ourselves struggling to meet our dogs' most basic needs. This reality confronts us with an urgency that I cannot express in words. Our dogs' survival is at stake, and our ability to protect them is seriously compromised!".

4. Sladja isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"The lack of kibble weighs heavily on our daily operations, threatening to undo years of effort dedicated to dog welfare. This food shortage forces us to make difficult choices, such as prioritizing the purchase of kibble to the detriment of essential veterinary care. This jeopardizes not only our dogs' health, but also their rehabilitation and their chance of a better life.

Faced with this situation, taking in new abandoned dogs has become an almost impossible task. The lack of kibble severely limits our ability to care for traumatized dogs who require special attention and support. Our sterilization programs, vital for controlling the dog population and promoting animal health, have also been put on hold for lack of sufficient resources.

In addition, this shortfall directly affects the interactions between our dogs and visitors, essential for encouraging adoption and strengthening the human-animal bond. Our dog sponsorship initiatives, which depend on the good health and well-being of our protégés, are also at risk. In this context of food crisis, every aspect of our mission is threatened, leaving our dogs in a vulnerable situation."

5. Constantly tested in her fight for the vulnerable animals of her region, Sladja remains determined not to give up, aware of their total dependence on her.

###

"I devote myself tirelessly to the well-being of dogs. This commitment, however, often confronts me with a profound sense of isolation. In Serbia, the quest for support for our cause comes up against multiple obstacles, making each day more trying than the last. This difficulty, far from discouraging me, only strengthens my determination, even if it is constantly put to the test.

The financial management of the refuge is a constant struggle. Every penny counts, every financial decision has a direct impact on our ability to care for the dogs. In this constant battle, I strive to overcome the negative stereotypes associated with abandoned dogs, seeking to change mentalities to offer them a better future. This work, often invisible and unrecognized, is the very essence of my life.

Despite the challenges, I continue to fight for these voiceless beings. Every setback, every failure in the search for support is a reminder of the urgency and importance of our mission. These animals, dependent on our help, are the heart of our shelter. Their well-being is a reflection of our success, and every day spent by their side strengthens my resolve never to give up, no matter what obstacles we encounter."
