Animal Webaction visited the site 06 January 2024 and confirms the situation described below.
"Donations have never been so low. A few people are still supporting me and I'm extremely grateful to them, but the difference compared to previous years is undeniable. I've never had so much trouble feeding my dogs! I've been rationing the amount of kibble I give the dogs for over a week now, and the little I have left will barely last a few more days if I keep stretching the portions to the limit...
The dogs are not eating enough, far from it! To make matters worse, the temperatures are very low and it's snowing almost every day... The dogs are increasingly nervous because they're cold and hungry! I'm very worried about their survival; they need kibble to cope with the rigours of winter... Without kibble, I'm powerless... and any further rationing will only make things worse.
I am deeply saddened by the reality in which we live. A reality where a meal is a luxury... I can't believe it's come to this, even if I'm aware of the difficulties everyone is facing! My mission is to fight for my animals as best I can, but I'm not omnipotent. I'm praying that this campaign will help my dogs get through the winter..."
"The lack of kibble causes noticeable changes in dogs' behaviour. They become increasingly nervous and inclined to fight. Their aggression comes out at mealtimes, because they know there isn't enough for them all. It hurts me to see that they instinctively understand the routine and feel that "it's that time again"...
The lack of kibble also prevents me from doing any more rescues. Although I want to help everyone, I recognise my limitations; I'm not omnipotent... Without adequate food, the dogs will have no chance of recovering or even surviving the freezing temperatures, that's for sure. This possibility sends shivers down my spine... It's impossible for me to help all these dogs without kibble, they're the basis of everything!"
"Everyone is facing major challenges because of inflation. Basic necessities such as bread, oil and fuel have become too expensive, and the price of kibble has also risen unprecedentedly. People are panicking and this of course affects the donations we receive, as people are worried about their own survival.
This is a terrible crisis, and the worst thing about it is that it shows no sign of abating! On the contrary, everyone is warning that the situation is going to get worse. I really don't know how to cope any more... I borrowed a few bags from the kibble supplier, who allowed me to pay him later, but that's only a temporary solution. Payment of the other bills is on hold, and I've had to postpone vaccinations for some dogs.
I'm really worried. I really can't see ahead or plan anything. I don't even know what tomorrow will bring! And then I have to say that it's extremely difficult to ask for help from people who are fighting for their very survival...I'm not giving up, but I also know that I can't go on without kibble..."
"These dogs mean everything to me; I devote my whole life to them. I offer them shelter, care and try to find them a family who will give them the life they deserve. I try to make people aware of how to look after an animal, of the importance of sterilisation. I try to convince them that abandonment is not the answer... I do my best to do my bit and help change people's minds, little by little!
Over the years, I've experienced many emotional disappointments. Every time I lost a dog, a piece of my heart was ripped out. But taking care of them has taught me invaluable life lessons. I realised that every act of kindness is important and that when we help others, we can expect something good in return. I've learnt to be patient, and above all that perseverance pays off!
All my efforts are rewarded when I see the dogs in a warm and happy home, receiving the love they deserve. All the pain is forgotten, and I can see the goal again. Finding a family for so many dogs is my greatest achievement. These wonderful people give the most selfless love. Their gratitude is immeasurable. They need so little to be happy and are always there to put a smile back on your face!"
