Following a double fracture, poor Noisette has lost a leg!

1. She had to be amputated...

Noisette is a two-month-old hedgehog that was found about ten days ago. She weighed only 280g and was suffering from a double fracture in one of her hind legs...

Sadly, amputation was necessary. She's currently in a healing state, recuperating and working on gaining weight. We will see how she manages to tackle her disability and learns to move around.

2. Canned food could assist in her recovery

A nutrient-rich and vitamin-filled diet would be beneficial to Noisette during her convalescence. Canned food originally designed for kittens seems the most suitable for her needs as it provides valuable nutrients.

This diet will help her to continue to regain weight while healing at her own pace. Once she's back on her feet, such sustenance will provide her with the much-needed energy to learn to live with one less leg!

3. We need your help!

Since the start of our organisation, we have taken into care 160 hedgehogs in 2023 alone, and already 11 in 2024, while undertaking awareness-raising actions and interventions within schools.

On average, hedgehogs stay in our centre for 43 days - a period that can extend for those in recovery or hibernation. Our dedicated hedgehog care centre mainly runs on donations from private individuals, as we are not yet government funded. Your help with providing food and blankets would be of great support!
