Loose teeth, drooling, inflammation: poor Risette has calicivirus!

1. She is expecting kittens...

Risette is a cat of about seven years old that we've placed in foster care as she's pregnant. After she gives birth, we plan to have her spayed and will try to find her a forever home.

2. She finds chewing very difficult...!

Risette has contracted the calicivirus. This illness causes inflammation in her gums, which is leading to tooth loss. As the inflammation causes her to drool excessively, the vet will need to extract the remaining teeth she has left.

3. Blankets would keep her warm

A set of blankets would provide Risette with a clean, cosy place to rest and to give birth to her kittens. Afterwards, she would have a warm place for nursing her kittens in safety and rest as much as she’ll need it.

4. The association faces a budget deficit...

Our association is constantly dealing with financial challenges, made worse by the strains last winter placed on our budget. Necessary purchases of food and equipment for our charges have resulted in a considerable deficit!

Currently, we're supporting about ten cats in foster homes and are overseeing five feeding sites... Our capacities are stretched to the limit!
