Cajou, a 14 year old cat, is facing a challenging transition in life after his owner had to move to a facility for elderly people.
Cajou has a chronic calicivirus infection for three years now, and is often plagued by oral ulcers despite regular medication injections... Eating can sometimes be challenging for him!
Due to his steroidal treatment, Cajou has renal failure. His weakened kidneys no longer properly filter toxins out of his system... This makes him more fatigue-prone and he struggles to maintain normal weight.
Canned food specifically designed to lighten the strain on the kidneys could afford Cajou a better quality of life.
In addition to meeting his nutritional needs without exacerbating his kidney failure, the food could also make it easier for him to eat despite his oral ulcers, thereby helping to stabilise his health and improve his everyday wellbeing.
My commitment to cat rescue over the past three decades has presented me with countless challenges. With no grants or external help, and with half of my pension going towards caring for needy cats, the financial situation of the association is becoming untenable!
With the remaining money, I must find a way to feed the cats and pay my fixed costs... As I am alone in this struggle, the emotional and financial burden of these rescues weighs heavily on my shoulders!
