Animal Webaction visited the site 09 June 2024 and confirms the situation described below.
"With 600 dogs in our care, our supplies are running out far too quickly! In just 5 days, we will have no more kibble left. And what little we have left is not even of good quality...
Our dogs are suffering from it. Their energy is decreasing, their coats are becoming dull. It's difficult to see them like this, and even more difficult to have to turn away new arrivals due to lack of kibble... The potential failure of this campaign makes me dread the worst scenarios!"
"Without new kibble in the coming days, our dogs will truly suffer. They will be hungry, and their health will deteriorate, for sure. They will fall sick more easily. For those already injured or ill, no recovery will be possible!
I worry about them all the time... We need this kibble so badly. Not just to feed them, but to give them a chance to survive and have a decent life!"
"We've tried everything to get help, in vain. Soliciting companies, fundraising... Nothing works. Even our calls for help on social media, where we share our daily lives and difficulties, have not elicited the expected responses.
Each new failure is a slap in the face, an immense disappointment. I tell myself that there must be another solution, but for now, we are really struggling with the meager means at our disposal!"
"The lack of kibble is a huge obstacle in our daily work. Everything has to be put on hold. Awareness and prevention activities, which are at the heart of our mission, are interrupted.
Even our field actions are impacted. Whether it's surveillance rounds to spot animals in distress, food distributions to strays, or capture operations, we no longer have the means to properly carry out everything.
We're like tightrope walkers on a wire, focused solely on this desperate quest for kibble... Whereas with sufficient supplies, we could fully dedicate ourselves to all facets of our mission!"
"In Bosnia, the plight of abandoned dogs often goes unnoticed. People don't care, or don't realize how much they need help! Taking care of all these dogs day after day is truly an enormous ordeal. Some days, I'm discouraged by the magnitude of the task...
But then I think back to what motivates me deep down. I see that terrified, ill dog we rescued, now full of life and happy. Or that stray dog who finally has a loving home and a bed of their own.
These little victories, these one-by-one improvements, are what give me the strength to move forward! Just like the support of donors and volunteers, without whom we could do absolutely nothing..."
Animal Webaction has a logistics centre in Bosnia which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.
