1. A tick has transmitted a tropical disease to her!

Zita is a nearly ten-year-old dog that we rescued from a shelter on Reunion Island, just before we stopped taking in animals from outside our area. She has ehrlichiosis, a tropical disease spread by ticks, causing her to vomit and lose her appetite. We have therefore placed her in a foster home, where she has been receiving treatment for several months.

2. Canned food could help her recover

Canned food suitable for her age could encourage Zita to eat more, helping her maintain her weight and cope better with her treatment. Easy to digest, such food could perhaps help soothe her vomiting.

3. The association is overwhelmed by the burdens...

We have stopped all out of area intakes and only manage local cases now, due to many abandonments. Since the last lockdown, the situation has remained tough, and our food stocks are exhausted...

We still have many residents to care for, most of whom will stay at the association for their entire lives! Paying for their care and treatments also represents a considerable budget...
