Diabetes, urinary problems, calicivirus: poor Lorenzo has a host of health issues!

1. He lives outside!

Lorenzo is a three-and-a-half-year-old cat, who lives outdoors, in an undergrowth. The place is overrun with mosquitoes and particularly damp... It's a really hostile environment for cats!

2. He can no longer chew...

Suffering from calicivirus, Lorenzo had to undergo dental extraction. The operation relieved him by reducing inflammation in his mouth. However, he can no longer eat dry foods since he can't chew them anymore...

3. He has diabetes!

Lorenzo has type 1 diabetes. He drinks a lot and needs a suitable diet, otherwise, his condition could worsen...

4. He has urinary problems...

Lorenzo has crystals in his urine (struvite). He hasn't developed stones yet, but we need to keep a close watch on it.

5. Suitable canned food could help stabilise him

A diet specially designed for diabetic cats could stabilise Lorenzo's blood sugar levels. It would be a good way to keep him hydrated, and to sustain him healthily without posing a risk to his health.

6. Caring for cats in need is very expensive!

Some of our charges are sick and require costly, specially adapted food. Caring for and feeding them represents several hundreds of pounds per cat! Unfortunately, donations and memberships are far from sufficient to fund everything...
