Animal Webaction visited the site 04 July 2025 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Serbia, Danijela is nearly out of kibble for the dozens of stray dogs she feeds. Without help, they will starve.

%%%

"Honestly, the situation on the streets has never been worse. I feed dozens of stray dogs near my home and the landfill, but with the little kibble I have, I’m forced to split it between the shelter and the streets. The result? No dog gets enough to eat!

I witness abandonments almost every week. Packs of 10 to 20 dogs appear out of nowhere, chasing off the older ones and overcrowding already saturated areas. I've even had to cut back my feeding rounds because, truthfully, there just isn’t enough food to go around.

The strays are getting thinner and more desperate. Some start roaming far and wide just to find a bite. Hunger is changing them — they’re more anxious, more aggressive. Fights break out. Injuries are becoming more common...

If I don’t receive kibble soon, I know what comes next: disease, violence, death… And there’ll be nothing I can do to stop it."

2. Weak and emaciated after a severe parasitic infection, Deka urgently needs kibble to survive.

###

"Deka is an old dog who’s been through hell. His former owners abandoned him on the streets. When I found him, he was wandering alone, terribly ill. He had contracted a tick-borne infection that causes high fever and total exhaustion. By some miracle, he pulled through...

But now, Deka is heartbreaking to look at. He’s skin and bones, his ribs clearly visible under his skin. At his age and in such a weakened state, he barely shuffles along. He can’t fight to find food or stand up to younger, stronger dogs. What he urgently needs is kibble — enough to regain weight and stabilize his health."

3. Danijela also cares for 65 dogs in her shelter — they too are at risk due to the food shortage.

"Things are getting harder at the shelter. With 65 dogs under my care and no adoptions happening, feeding them is now my biggest struggle. Our last kibble donation was over 4 months ago, and since then, I’ve been stretching every bag and every cent to cover the basics. But it’s just not enough...

The dogs are hungry. I manage to give them just 17kg of low-quality kibble per day, when they really need 30kg. For months now, I’ve been forced to cut their portions. To make it last, I mix it with stale bread and leftover chicken when I can — but the consequences are showing: the dogs are losing weight, they have diarrhea, and their immune systems are weakening, making them even more vulnerable to disease.

I’m scared for their health because I see my kibble reserves shrinking, way faster than I can replace them..."

4. Sin Bobi survived a brutal attack, but he remains severely underweight and relies on kibble to recover.

###

"Sin Bobi is a 9-year-old survivor. I found him after a brutal attack by other dogs — they had torn off half the skin on his back. He was in critical condition, with almost no chance of survival.

He spent 40 days at the clinic receiving daily care and antibiotics. Half of his skin was gone, and the pain was so intense he couldn’t eat... Even now, only part of his wound has healed.

Sin Bobi is still weak and extremely thin. His body is slowly recovering from deep trauma, but he won’t regain strength without help."

5. Crushed by debt and lacking enough donations, this kibble campaign is Danijela’s only way to feed her dogs.

###

"Honestly, my financial situation has never been this bad. I’m drowning in debt — around €3,500 — mostly from sterilizations, vaccines, treatments, and shelter upkeep. Donations have dropped sharply, and most of what I receive only covers low-quality food. Even that is no longer enough.

I’ve had to delay sterilizations and flea treatments. I’m constantly searching for clinics that offer free procedures, but they’re nearly impossible to find. Two French charities help me a little with food and bedding, but their support has also decreased. And with so many shelters competing for limited aid, finding long-term sponsors is nearly impossible.

This kibble campaign is my only hope. Without it, I won’t be able to feed the dogs — and I truly have no other solution. I’ve tried everything: calling around, posting on social media — but the response has been minimal. I desperately need this help."

6. Danijela isn’t asking for money — just kibble, so the dogs don’t starve.

###

"I’ve been rescuing dogs for nearly 15 years, focusing on the most vulnerable — the sick, the injured, the ones who’ve suffered unimaginable cruelty. Some were left for dead, others tortured. I give them a chance to heal, to trust again, to live without fear. Those who can’t be adopted stay with me for life, surrounded by love.

Every loss hits me hard. Recently, I had to say goodbye to an elderly dog who had finally learned to trust again, only to be taken by illness. Her final days were peaceful, but my heart broke. Still, I can’t stop — others still need me. Every happy ending, a dog finding a home or simply feeling safe, gives me the strength to go on.

That strength also comes from every donation I receive. A bag of kibble, for example, is more than food :  it’s a sign that someone out there cares, that hope still exists. Without donors, we couldn’t save anyone. Your help, no matter how small, could mean the difference between life and death for a dog. You are their chance."
