Animal Webaction visited the site 03 August 2025 and confirms the situation described below.
"Out on the streets, the situation is desperate. Two hundred stray cats depend on me, but I can now only feed them every other day due to a lack of resources. This is nowhere near enough, especially for the most fragile.Worse still, the number of cats keeps growing because I can no longer afford sterilizations.
Since I had to reduce feeding rounds, some cats have become more nervous and aggressive. They fight more and more often over food. I can see their behavior changing : they are leaving their usual spots, driven by hunger.
Today, I have no kibble left. Some of them will not survive if nothing changes! This situation is emotionally exhausting for me, as I’m alone in caring for them and I have no other solution…"
"Oma is a young cat, about a year old. She has lived near my home since she was four months old. She suffers from mange and has never managed to adapt to life at the shelter, despite my attempts.
She is very attached to her surroundings but remains vulnerable because of her illness. She waits for me every day, and when I can’t come, she is left hungry. She has no one else! And she’s too weak to fight or to go looking for food elsewhere.
Without regular food, she will not survive. She relies entirely on the kibble I provide to stay alive."
"At the shelter, the situation is just as critical. With 200 cats to care for, many of them sick or weak, I’m completely overwhelmed. Most are suffering from untreated illnesses because I simply don’t have the means to provide proper veterinary care.
Since early 2025, I’ve had to ration kibble because I no longer have the resources to buy enough. Right now, I’m forced to feed the cats poor-quality kibble bought on credit : when I can get it at all.
The effects are already visible: some cats are becoming aggressive, others are weakened, their health deteriorating. Tensions are high at the shelter, because the cats are no longer eating their fill… I feel powerless, deeply worried for their future and survival."
"Asad is about two years old and completely blind. I rescued him after his home was destroyed. Because of his blindness, he was in real danger on the streets—wandering aimlessly, exposed to constant threats. I didn’t hesitate for a second to bring him to the shelter, because outside, he wouldn’t have survived.
At the shelter, he has found some balance, but he remains extremely vulnerable. He can’t defend himself and depends entirely on me for food. And now, I have nothing left to give him…
For a cat like him, the lack of food is a direct threat. If he doesn’t eat, he will weaken quickly, and his disability will prevent him from fighting to survive."
"My financial situation is catastrophic. I live on credit : debts keep piling up for medical care, medication, food, vet bills, cleaning supplies… I even had to sell my car to keep feeding the cats!
I sometimes receive a bit of help, notably from a small Belgian association. This occasional support helps me deal with some emergencies, but it’s neither regular nor sufficient to handle the scale of the situation.
Donations have dropped sharply since the beginning of the year. And with 400 cats to care for, the situation has become unmanageable. Many essential treatments have stopped—mange, coryza, sterilizations… I have no other option but this kibble campaign. Without it, I won’t be able to feed the cats or keep fighting for them."
"I’m alone in this enormous mission. Every day, I see cats suffering, and I suffer with them. But my love for them keeps me going, because I know they have no one else.
To anyone reading this: your help is vital. It would allow me to resume feeding rounds, to care for the most fragile, and above all, to give them back a dignified life.
As I often say: “One hand alone cannot clap.” I need you to continue this mission. Every kibble donation saves lives. To me, it’s not just food—it’s an act of love and solidarity towards beings who rely on us to survive."
