With his immune system weakened, poor Oreo has caught a calicivirus...

1. He's very vulnerable...

Oreo is a twelve-year-old cat who has leukaemia and is carrying FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). As a result, his immune system is less robust, which significantly weakens him!

2. He struggles to eat!

Oreo has chronic calicivirus. Due to this, the inside of his mouth is severely inflamed! Eating kibble has become too painful for him. So, we give him painkiller injections from time to time to provide some relief...

3. He lives outdoors...

Terrified of the other cats in the shelter, Oreo refuses to stay indoors and lives outside, regardless of the weather. When it rains, he manages to shelter among the bamboo and reeds as best he can.

4. With canned food, he would be able to eat effortlessly

Wet food suitable for his age would provide a daily boost of much-needed vitamins for Oreo. This would allow him to maintain a stable weight and conserve a bit of energy, despite his mouth issues. It would bring him immense relief!

5. We are anxious about the return of colder weather!

Between the kittens, sick adult cats and numerous veterinary bills, our resources are stretched to the limit! We need to prepare for the onset of cold and damp weather... Your help would be more than welcome in replenishing our supplies of food, blankets and shelters for the cats in our charge!
