“I take care of many stray dogs, especially near the municipal landfill and around my apartment building. Over the past few months, I can see it very clearly: abandonments are increasing. We find puppies, young dogs, and even dogs that were used to living in homes, suddenly dumped overnight, without any protection, right in the middle of winter.
The problem is that many of them survive only thanks to what I can bring them. But right now, I am running out of kibble, so I am forced to ration it and reduce my visits. I can only give each dog a very small amount, often low-quality food, sometimes supplemented with stale bread when I have some. As a result, they do not get enough to eat, they lose weight, they grow weaker, and with the cold and damp weather, respiratory problems return very quickly.
Hunger also changes their behavior. I see it every day: they are more nervous, more tense, and they fight more often over food. Things can escalate very fast, leading to serious injuries and sometimes deadly fights. If I cannot find food quickly, I truly fear that many will not survive the winter. Between the cold, hunger, disease, and these fights, their survival is at risk every single day.”

“At the shelter as well, the situation is extremely tense. In recent months, the number of dogs to feed has increased dramatically due to nonstop abandonments, and I see no sign of things slowing down. The needs keep growing, but the resources do not.
Right now, our kibble stock is almost gone. I am forced to buy the cheapest kibble available, of very poor quality, because that is all I can afford. Once a week, we also receive stale bread from a bakery, and very occasionally a bit of meat. But most of the dogs’ diet depends on this low-quality kibble, and it simply does not fill them up.
And it is already showing. Many dogs have lost weight, their stools are poor, and their overall condition is deteriorating. Their bodies weaken, making them even more vulnerable to disease, especially in winter. They need more energy to cope with the cold, but I do not have the means to provide it. Every day brings new problems, and I live in constant fear of no longer being able to protect my dogs.”

“Sin is five years old. When I think about him, I truly feel he has lived through horror. He was attacked by a pack and severely injured. He lost a large portion of the skin on his back, and his condition was critical. He had to stay in a clinic for forty days, with intensive care several times a day, and throughout that time, we feared we might lose him.
After those forty days, Sin was finally able to come to the shelter. Today, he is recovering. His wounds are still healing, it is not over yet, but he is doing better. On top of that, Sin has epilepsy. He needs continuous medication to prevent seizures. That means he needs stability, close monitoring, and above all, enough food to keep going.
What touches me most about him is that he remains a calm, gentle, and social dog despite everything he has endured. But his health is fragile. If there is not enough kibble, everything can unravel. Healing slows down, he weakens, he gets sick more easily, and his epilepsy can become unstable. For Sin, eating his fill is not a comfort. It is what allows him to keep fighting and rebuilding his life.”

“Financially, the situation is at a dead end. As soon as one dog finishes treatment, another falls ill or arrives severely injured. Some street dogs attacked by packs have required long and expensive care, and veterinary bills have piled up very quickly.
I have tried every possible way to find help: donation appeals, requests for support, contacting companies, attempts to obtain a charity SMS number. Everything has been refused or left unanswered. Even with the help of foreign partner organizations, which mainly support us with adoptions and certain critical cases, there is still a huge shortfall.
Today, what we lack most are kibble and medications. Without this campaign, I will not be able to properly feed the shelter dogs or the stray dogs. Food is the foundation of everything. Without it, care, protection, and even the dogs’ survival become impossible.”

“Every day, I receive calls and messages about abandoned, injured, or abused dogs. The situation for animal welfare here is extremely difficult. Abandonments are constant, institutions respond very little, and those who try to save animals often find themselves alone, facing emergencies.
Physically and emotionally, the burden is immense. The hardest moments are when I fail to save a dog, or when one of them dies despite all our efforts. And yet, I keep going, because every life saved and every dog who recovers or finds a family gives meaning to all of this.
Sadly, the truth is that I cannot continue without help. Donations, and especially kibble, are essential for me to keep going and to prevent these dogs from sinking into hunger and disease. This campaign is vital for their survival, and for me to continue fighting alongside them.”
