Animal Webaction visited the site 03 May 2026 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Serbia, Danijela has almost no kibble left for the dozens of stray dogs fed by her association. Without help, they will starve to death!

%%%

"Every day, I get messages about new dogs on the streets: lost dogs, starving dogs, unsterilised dogs, entire packs… and for the past two months, more and more abandoned puppies. There are dogs everywhere! I can’t keep up anymore.

I take care of 15 dogs near the dump, and a few volunteers feed the new dogs in town. I give them what I can, but right now, it’s really the cheapest I can find. I don’t have enough money left, so I’ve had to reduce the amounts. It’s not enough, it doesn’t feed them properly, and I can clearly see it: they’re losing weight, and some are becoming more aggressive.

I also get reports from people who are scared... And when a dog is reported, things can move very quickly: he’s taken to the pound, and we never see him again... That’s why we absolutely have to manage to feed them, to stop the situation from getting even worse! Without kibble, I won’t be able to help them properly, or give them a real chance to make it through."

2. Danijela takes care of 72 vulnerable dogs in her shelter: they too are threatened by the lack of kibble!

%%%

"At the shelter, I now have 72 dogs to feed, and their number keeps growing. Even when I manage to get a few dogs adopted, I have to take in even more right afterwards: skinny dogs, sick dogs, dogs in danger, puppies… A few days ago, I also rescued Srecko, an old terrier who is completely blind, abandoned in the street. He was at risk of being euthanised.

I buy low-quality kibble, simply because I can’t afford to do otherwise. Around 20 kg a day has to be shared between all the dogs at the shelter and those on the streets. It’s not enough, and it’s not nutritious enough either.

The consequences are already visible: the dogs often have diarrhoea, and they’re still hungry. My biggest fear is that if this campaign fails, I’ll be forced to put some dogs back on the streets, because I won’t be able to feed them all anymore. For the older ones and those who are already sick, it would be catastrophic!"

3. Coca is losing weight, growing weaker, fighting a stubborn cancer: without kibble, she won’t hold on.

###

"Coca is 7 years old. She was sterilised in a municipal shelter, but the operation was badly done: not all of her reproductive organs were removed. Because of that, she developed a tumour in the abdominal area.

Since then, the tumour has progressed and spread to her internal organs. Coca is fighting a stubborn cancer... Her condition is very fragile: she’s extremely weak, she’s losing weight, and for now, her body isn’t even stable enough to withstand chemotherapy.

She’s very tired, she has little energy. Kibble is absolutely essential for her; she needs it to keep even a minimum of strength. Without it, it’s a lost cause..."

4. One emergency after another, limited care, veterinary debt spiralling: Danijela will not be able to feed her dogs without this campaign.

###

"My financial situation has become much worse over the past few months. Several donors can no longer help, because they are going through difficulties themselves. Donations have dropped, and with all the dogs to feed and treat, I can no longer cover their needs.

I have around €3,000 in debt at the vet’s. As soon as I manage to raise a little money, I pay part of it back, but a new emergency comes almost immediately: an old sick dog, an operation, an illness… and the debt goes back up. It never ends. I’ve also had to cut back on care: before, I used to do 4D tests and blood work for every dog, now I can only do them in really serious cases.

I’ve tried asking for help everywhere: on social media, with videos, by contacting companies… but the response has been very weak. Some associations help me with adoptions, and sometimes with surgeries or equipment, but food remains the main emergency. If this campaign doesn’t succeed, I honestly don’t know how I’ll be able to continue."

5. Danijela is not asking for money, only kibble to stop the dogs from starving to death.

###

"My relationship with animals has changed a lot. At the beginning, it was mainly love and the desire to help. Today, it has become my daily life: feeding, treating, reassuring, finding solutions… even when I’m exhausted.

There are simple moments that give me the strength to keep going: a dog who was scared finally accepting a stroke, another wagging his tail for the first time, or just seeing them sleeping peacefully after eating. It may not seem like much, but when you’ve seen the state they were in when they arrived, it means everything!

The hardest part is mainly knowing that I can’t save them all. I see starving dogs every day, and sometimes I don’t have enough to give them. Here, abandonments continue, the laws aren’t enforced enough, there aren’t enough sterilisations or microchips. I keep going because they have no one else, but love isn’t enough to fill a bowl. If this campaign succeeds, they’ll finally have full bellies, more strength, less suffering, and a real chance to survive."

8. In Serbia, street dogs are hunted by the State and ignored by the population, volunteers like Danijela are their only hope.
