Animal Webaction visited the site 11 May 2026 and confirms the situation described below.

"I’m currently caring for 77 dogs at the shelter. One dog died recently, but I also rescued another one, so the number of dogs under my care remains extremely high. Today, managing to feed them all has become my biggest challenge, and the most urgent one.
I only have five days’ worth of kibble left. A few days ago, I had no choice but to reduce their meals to try to make the stock last a little longer. It breaks my heart to have reached this point, because I know they’re no longer eating enough.
The arrival of spring has brought us a small relief after the difficult winter: the dogs are no longer constantly cold and soaked. But apart from that, nothing has really improved! Donations remain very low, prices keep rising, and I’m terrified at the thought that I may soon no longer be able to feed them..."

"The change in rations was visible immediately. The dogs finish their bowls far too quickly, then stay on alert, as if they were still waiting for something more. In a shelter with 77 dogs, that tension spreads quickly: the most nervous ones become agitated, the weakest ones withdraw... It becomes really difficult to keep everyone calm until the next meal.
The most fragile dogs worry me terribly. Lila is very old and lives with cardiac asthma, Tacka has been fighting demodectic mange for years and it has just returned, Minja has chronic intestinal problems and loses strength easily. Even the dogs who seem stronger end up being affected. Here, no one is spared when kibble runs out...
I can endure a lot of things, ask for help, postpone certain expenses, go without things myself, but I can’t watch these dogs wait for their meal and have nothing to give them. Releasing them outside would condemn them, and keeping them here without being able to feed them would be unbearable. Without this campaign, I don’t see how we can stop hunger from taking over everything..."

"I took Tacka out of the Prača kill shelter when she was only six months old. She was still a baby, and since then, she has never left the shelter. Today, she is 10 years old. She grew up here, under my protection, and she is one of those dogs who have always lived quietly, without ever taking up too much space.
She is a very gentle dog, but also very fearful. She often stays a little apart, quietly, as if she didn’t want to bother anyone. For years, she has been fighting demodectic mange that keeps coming back despite the treatments. We had managed to keep her stable for a long time, but the disease reappeared about a month ago.
Today, her treatment has been stopped, because I no longer have the means to continue it. Her body is already fragile, and so is her immune system. If, on top of all that, she lacks food, she will weaken even faster. Kibble is the only thing that can help her hold on despite the disease."

"Financially, the situation has become even heavier. Everything is going up: food, care, medication, electricity, even travel costs. On my side, I have no leeway. Feeding 77 dogs is already a huge burden, and today, that is precisely what I can no longer cover.
Still, I try to look for help wherever I can. I make appeals, I write to people, I explain the situation, I ask people to mobilize. Sometimes, some people respond, sometimes they can’t, or not as much as before. I understand that, many people are going through difficult times themselves, but in practical terms, it is not enough to feed the dogs.
I don’t have a large organization behind me, no official partnership that can take over. There is only a small group of kind people, often friends now, who do what they can. I have also had to pause certain treatments with the vet, to keep only the most essential care. Without this campaign, I don’t see how I could cover the most urgent need: giving them food."

"The bond I have with the dogs is the most precious relationship of my life. I sincerely believe that, sometimes, we understand each other simply through our eyes. It took years to build this trust, and I have created a relationship with every dog who has arrived at the shelter.
The most beautiful moments are the mornings, when I arrive and they welcome me with immense joy, all eager to receive attention and affection. Everything I do for them, I do with love. Sometimes it is very hard, and I also have my own health problems, but as long as I can stand, I will not give up.
In Bosnia, awareness and compassion towards animals are not yet at the level they should be, and that makes this fight even harder. These dogs are like my family, and when I can’t give them what they need, I feel as though I have let them down, even though I am doing everything I can. I cannot manage on my own: help is essential, especially now, so that these dogs simply have enough to survive."
