Animal Webaction visited the site 05 September 2026 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Sally has almost no kibble left to feed the 756 dogs of her sanctuary. They risk starving to death!

%%%

"We have 756 dogs at the sanctuary.. This summer, I had to bring a lot of them in urgently so they wouldn't be caught by the pound officers. A few have been able to go back to their territories. The others are still here, because their area isn't 100% safe yet. I'm not going to send a dog back to be picked up after everything we did to save him! Except that means dozens more bowls to fill every single day...

I've still got a bit of kibble left, but it's melting away in front of me. And if there's any left at all, it's only because I ration every day, without exception. I'm handing out 50% less, sometimes more. It buys us a few days, but the store empties all the same.

Every morning, I do the same sums. Not what my dogs need, no: how far I can stretch the little I have left. I know perfectly well that what I put down in front of them isn't enough. They know it too. And now I've reached the end of what I can take away..."

2. Half rations are stripping the sanctuary dogs of all their defences.

###

"My dogs are losing weight, I don't need scales to see that. And even then, the thinness is only what shows. The real danger is underneath: their immunity gives way. A dog who eats his fill fights off illness. A dog who's only half fed has nothing left to defend himself with.

The slightest cough, the slightest tick, the slightest infection floors him. I've just lived through it: viral pneumonia swept through the sanctuary and I lost five of my dogs. Three more went of old age. Eight dogs in a matter of weeks.

It frightens me because on half rations you lose control, you can't take on the unexpected. If an illness comes back through here while my dogs have empty stomachs, it won't be five dogs I bury. It'll be far more..."

3. Taken into the sanctuary after an accident, Rocky is losing weight for want of enough kibble.

###

"Rocky is nine years old. He used to be one of my tagged street dogs. He lived his life quietly, on his own territory. And then a car ran him over, so I brought him to the sanctuary.

And today, he's losing weight. That's what I see every time I walk past him: a nine year old dog dropping weight because I haven't got enough to give him!

He's got arthritis on top of that, so every step costs him something, and an old dog like him ought to be eating better, and more. I'm doing the opposite, and I've got no choice. I took him off the streets so he'd have some peace, and now I can't even feed him the way he deserves..."

4. In the streets of Tangier, the 200 dogs on Sally's rounds are living on handfuls of kibble.

%%%

"On my rounds, I look after 200 tagged dogs. They're all marked, I know every one of them, each has his own territory. Every day, I feed as many dogs as I can, but in tiny amounts. Handfuls of kibble, when what they need is a proper meal.

And there are more and more of them. The abandonments that come with the season have gone through the roof this year. That means the same small amount of kibble, divided between even more mouths. We've managed to get part of our sterilisation and vaccination programme going again, and that's essential, it's the only thing that breaks the cycle. But only part of it, and that's nowhere near keeping up with the dogs coming in.

And the season gives them no respite. In this heat, the dogs drink enormously. The ticks and the fleas are at their worst. And the heat itself makes them ill. A strong, well fed dog can take a hot spell. A dog living on three handfuls of kibble can't, he has no reserves at all. Ollie, one of the dogs I had tagged down by the beach, is already losing weight... He needs blood tests so we can find out what's wrong with him."

5. Sally is 10,000 € short every month, and her supporters are falling away one by one.

###

"Every month, I'm around 10,000 € short of covering what these dogs really need. And it hasn't got any better. It's simply held steady, which is nothing like coping. The vet, the water, the kennels, the food: everything demands money at once, money that isn't there. Food is the one thing I can't put off to next month.

The dogs I saved from being caught this summer, that pushed everything up at once. More kibble, more vet bills, more water in this heat. And building work, because you don't house extra dogs without building or repairing something. I'd do it again for every single one of them, without hesitating. But I'm paying for it now, with a store that empties faster than it used to.

And the donations just keep falling. People who supported us for years are writing to tell me they can't anymore. Honestly, I understand them: you lose your job, life gets more and more expensive, everything can turn on you. I wish them all the best and I'll never be able to thank them enough for what they've done for us. But receiving less is very hard. Every one of those messages is one more bowl I have to manage to fill on my own..."

6. Sally isn't asking for money, only kibble to stop the dogs from starving.

###

"I sold my house. I sold my businesses. I sold everything I had to build this sanctuary, because these dogs needed it and nobody else was going to do it. Protecting the dogs of my country was my dream as a little girl. Today, that dream is 756 dogs sleeping safely tonight, and 200 more who'll be waiting for me on their territories tomorrow.

Here, there's no foundation to turn to, no grants, hardly any local donors. There's what people abroad are willing to give us, and what I carry myself. I've been carrying it for years.

What keeps me going is them. A dog who couldn't stand up yesterday coming over to eat today. My street dogs recognising the sound of my car and running to meet me. Those moments give me the strength for one more day, every day."

7. By taking action now, you can help Sally receive 2900 kilos of kibble.

Animal Webaction has a logistics centre in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail...

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find funding for kibble, many dogs remain starving on the street!
