A truck full of kibble to save Bosnian dogs!

Because of a lack of kibble, 118 dogs in this Bosnian shelter are eating stale bread.. Several already died.

In Bosnia, Maya's 118 dogs are eating stale bread, they need kibble to survive!

We answered Maya's SOS: we visited her on July 11th, dogs eat bread!

Disarmed in the face of the many debts and expenses that she must take charge of, Maya must also fight alone against the Government which tries to make the shelter close...

There is no electricity, no running water... If the refuge were to close, the dogs would be promised a certain death!

1) There are no more kibble at Maya's shelter: 118 dogs eat stale bread, this lack of protein will kill them all, 2 already died this month...

Overloaded with debts, Maya is unable to buy enough kibble for all the dogs gathered in her shelter. The only solution she has is to collect bread from the nearby bakery.

Only here: many dogs welcomed at the shelter have a fragile health due to a tormented and often violent past. Bread is a dangerous diet for them, and may kill the weakest ...

2) We met Maya on July the 11: she can't afford to buy kibble, there is not even electricity nor water at the shelter!

Without water nor electricity, Maya must struggle to answer her 118 dogs needs...

3) Maya has to face the shelter improvements required by the Government, Maya can not afford to buy kibble...

### — Step by step, the boxes are being renovated, but this improvement requires a lot of energy and money and takes a lot of time.

### — Dogs need kibble while waiting to be adopted...

Hostile towards private shelters, the State tries close the shelter. It imposes expensive changes and improvements to keep it open! But Maya doesn't surrender...

With the help of only two people, Maya must overcome the work imposed by the Government as best as possible ...

Between letting the dogs live alone in the street by closing the shelter or buying kibble to feed them, Maya feels guilty and must deal with this dilemma on a daily basis.

4) If the collection fails, the dogs won't receive any food...

5) Maya's crying for help stay unanswered, we are her last hope!

Auctions are not enough to feed the dogs...

Maya calls for help on social networks as often as possible.

But despite the generosity of some people, Maya can only buy a few bags of poor quality kibble from time to time. Bread remains the best way to feed the dogs when she can not buy kibble ...

Without Maya's help and involvement, street dogs would have a different destiny ... Maya takes care of the veterinary fees, the food when she can, and tries at all costs to have the dogs adopted to offer them a better life.

Today out of breath, Maya asks us for help: alone and desperate, she wants above all to be able to feed the dogs she saved from misery.

8) In Bosnia, street dogs are tortured and killed illegally...

Maya's shelter is located near Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia.

In total illegality, Bosnian pounds hide the bodies of dead dogs in refrigerated bins...

In 1995, when the war in Bosnia ended, the streets were full of stray dogs: the crisis and famine no longer allowed the inhabitants to support them.. A dark period then began for street dogs that had proliferated massively: harassment, torture and violent mass slaughter had become the daily lot of abandoned dogs.

In 2009, in order to stop such a massacre, the government enforced a law prohibiting the capture and murder of dogs in pounds without prior veterinary advice.

But here's the thing: if this law tasted like victory to some, the lure of profit led some private pounds to charge the government for the purchase of phantom equipment.

Today, pounds catch, torture and kill stray dogs illegally in order to collect state subsidies. Corruption is not reported in the media, and private shelters try to save dogs that pass through the nets of illegal pounds...

9) What will the 2 880 kg collected be used for ?

This collection is organized by Hope VMS association. The 2 880 kilos of kibble collected will be delivered to its president, Maya, to feed the 118 dogs gathered at her shelter in Bosnia.
