In Romania, this shelter has no more kibbles for its 450 dogs !

Called for help, we went to the shelter on October 31.

There will be no food left from November 8th on : Lucian, the veterinarian in charge of the shelter, is very worried.

Several dogs have already died in recent months, others are still very weakened...

Neither the town hall nor the shelter can buy food anymore, they ask us to intervene.

The shelter is the only hope for hundreds of abandoned dogs.

We want to help them by sending 4200 kg of kibble as a matter of urgency.

100% transparency guaranteed

1. The shelter is overcrowded, several dogs have died, and there will soon be no more kibbles for the survivors!

$$$
Still very young, Caucase was too weak to resist the disease, and died of parvovirus in early October

$$$
At the shelter for several years, Guerlain died from a neurological crisis at the end of September, in a very unexpected way

$$$
Rescued with several other dogs to prevent him from being euthanized, Lagos passed away due to a disease a few weeks ago

$$$
Sucre was very young when he reached the shelter, and only survived for a few weeks, the conditions were too harsh for him....

In recent weeks, new rescues have kept happening relentlessly, the shelter is now at full capacity, with 450 dogs cared for.

Among them, there are nearly 70 puppies and 150 elderly dogs, not to mention all the dogs recently rescued who still suffer from injuries, sickness or malnourishment.

Particularly fragile, they struggle to survive at the shelter, several have already died in recent weeks. They absolutely need kibble to survive the winter!

2. We were on site on October 31st : the kibble stock is gone, Lucian the veterinarian is very worried

###
With 450 souls to feed every day, 150 kg of kibbles must be distributed on a daily basis.... "They become aggresive if they are fed anything else like bread or rice" Lucian explained, fearing that the situation could escalate very quickly without kibble

###
During our visit, there were only 300 kg of croquettes left at the refuge, enough to last 2 to 3 days... At the time of writing, Lucian has managed to buy a few bags, but there will be no kibble left from November 8th onwards

###
"I fear for the winter. My greatest hope is to have enough food stock for the upcoming months" Lucian told us

###
On the spot, our agent Stefan met Lucian and the 450 dogs from the shelter. "It pained me to see all the difficulties they are going through because of the lack of food" he told us on his return

"I fear for the winter. My greatest hope is to have enough food stock for the upcoming months" Lucian told us during our visit on October 31, and also said he was under constant stress.

As a veterinarian, Lucian is doing his best to ensure the survival of abandoned dogs, but he knows that even his best efforts will not be enough to fight malnutrition. "Most health issues usually appear because of lack of food and the low quality of it. They do not get the needed intake of nutrients and their immune system weakens."

Following our visit, Lucian managed to buy a few bags of low-quality kibble, not without difficulty, but everything will be used up again on November 8 th.

3. Dozens of dogs have just narrowly escaped euthanasia thanks to the shelter, we can't let them starve to death

###
Rescued from a municipal pound where he was to be put to sleep, Tipi was terribly malnourished: he has just arrived at the shelter, and still has a long way to go to recover

###
Blizzard, over 10 years old, was impounded by his former owner who thought he was too old to stand guard.... Arrived at the shelter in October, he narrowly escaped euthanasia

###
A survivor of a terrible impound lot where nearly 50 euthanasia are performed each month, Pantoufle has only been in the shelter for a few weeks

###
Melba was rescued before being put to sleep in a public shelter just a few weeks ago, and is still only skin and bones

Affected by the fate of dogs captured and locked up in municipal pounds, where abuse and euthanasia await them too often, volunteers regularly intervene to rescue as many of them as possible.

Orastie, Golesti or Roman for the most recent ones, dozens of dogs have been rescued and taken to the shelter in recent months, with a real chance of being adopted.

In October, more than 15 dogs were rescued from Roman's pound, many of them are still very weak, they need kibbles!

4. The town hall can no longer buy kibble, and the calls for help from the shelter remain vain, they ask us to intervene

In partnership with the town hall, the association financed a massive spaying / neutering campaign for 250 dogs, the only way to stop the massive influx of puppies that has been going on for weeks, but this has been a huge blow to its budget!

Thanks to the shelter and Lucian's commitment, the municipal pound has been shut down, and the shelter now takes care of all the abandoned dogs in the area.

A very heavy responsibility, with many costs that the association has more and more difficulty to face!

If the town hall finances the salary of an employee at the shelter, it no longer has any budget to help with other expenses, let alone to buy kibble. The shelter is therefore alone in the face of the immensity of work and expenses...

5. If we don't reach the target, dogs won't receive anything

A failed collection on Animal Webaction

We can take action, we have already booked a truck and pallets, but we have to pay it before November 10th.

If the collection fails, we will not be able to pay, the departure of the truck will be cancelled and none of the collected kibbles will be delivered...

If the collection fails, we will refund all donors.

6. In three months, the shelter rescued 110 dogs: many animals in distress will remain helpless if the shelter cannot find any kibbles

The shelter is faced with situations of great suffering on a daily basis, who will help these animals if its volunteers can no longer intervene?

Although the shelter is already full, and there are many difficulties to overcome, volunteers are doing their utmost to help as many animals as possible

The lack of food jeopardizes the lives of the 450 dogs who live at the shelter today, but also of all the other abandoned dogs who will no longer be able to be rescued tomorrow. On the street, injured, sick or condemned to euthanasia in neighbouring pounds, these dogs will not have access to a second chance.

"Not having enough food minimizes the chances of offering each dog the chance to live and eventually be adopted by a family" says Lucian, really saddened by the situation.

7. We met the 450 dogs at the shelter, we want to protect them by sending dry food in emergency

###
Hit by a car, Bella was found on the side of the road, suffering serious injuries. Her leg had to be amputated, but Bella is not suffering from any other sequelae

###
Abandoned overnight by a family that no longer wanted her, Peti hopes for a second chance at the shelter

###
Brought in by his masters who wanted to euthanize him because of his aggressive behaviour, Braco was spared by Lucian and welcomed into the shelter, where he never showed any sign of aggressiveness

###
Beaten and abused because she was a stray, Luna tried to hide in the nooks of the city, hoping that no one would find her...

###
Blanosu could barely walk when he was found, wandering in the forest. Hungry and disoriented, he had most likely been abandoned there by his former owners

###
Caught by the dogcatchers and brought to the shelter, Britney is waiting for a new chance

###
Bobita lived on the street before being was taken to the shelter. Rejected by the locals, he was regularly targeted by stones thrown at him to make him flee

###
Coco used to be deeply loved by his owner, but ended up on the street after her death, since no one wanted to take care of him

8. Lucian keeps on fighting to save the abandonned dogs !

The land on which the shelter is built belongs to Lucian's family: Remember me Land could never have existed without him! Veterinarian and manager of the shelter on site, his dedication to stray animals is total.

Where many veterinarians refused to operate on dogs because they did not see any possible improvements, Lucian never lost hope: the shelter saw many miracles born thanks to his incredible involvement.

"This appeal is not just about collecting food, but about giving a chance at life" he said during our visit.

9. The plight of stray dogs in Romania
