Animal Webaction visited the site 10 November 2019 and confirms the situation described below.

In Romania, Aurelia has no more kibbles to feed the street dogs, the temperature will drop to -10°C

Aurelia asks us to help her, she will no longer have any kibbles as of November 23rd.

We went on the spot on November 10th.

On the streets, dozens of dogs depend on her for food, they will not survive the winter without kibbles.

Aurelia has been struggling for weeks to avoid the worst, the situation is hanging by a thread.

A sanctuary for dozens of elderly dogs, her shelter will also face a food shortage in only a few days...

We want to help them, by sending 3000 kg of kibble as a matter of urgency.

100% transparency guaranteed.

1. Aurelia will soon have kibble left to feed the stray dogs who will spend the winter outside, it will be as cold as -10°C!

###
On the street for only a few weeks, this young dog is totally confused, but Aurelia has no place available to take him to the shelter. She can only feed him, and reassure him during her visits, but if she does not find kibbles he will have to manage on his own this winter....

###
Still on the street when we visited, this female dog and her puppy were fed for months by Aurelia, who could not help the death of the other two puppies in the litter. Aurelia knew they were too fragile to overcome winter, and managed a few days ago to get them out of the street. But dozens more have to stay out there

###
Every day, Aurelia takes the time to visit about twenty street dogs on the way to the shelter, and brings them food. Isolated in an industrial area, they cannot find food on their own, let alone in winter. "Over the winter, I help more dogs, because they are in difficult situation due to the cold" explains Aurelia

Very wild and frightened, these two young dogs mostly stand back, but always go out when Aurelia passes by to be able to feed themselves

Fed for several years by Aurelia, this old dog relies heavily on her visits, and will not be able to face winter without her support

Like all other street dogs, this female dog has been spayed by Aurelia, and has also been fed every day for 2 years. " There are so many of them unfortunately" deplores Aurelia

"Mom and her pups , in an industrial area as well. I go once a week and leave a bag of food for them"

The need of street dogs is regularly reminded on the page dedicated to the shelter.... "unfortunatly I have to let them back on the street because I have no enough place in my shelter" explained Aurelia with regret, who fears that she will have to abandon them completely if she doesn't find any kibbles

For years, Aurelia has been feeding dozens of stray dogs daily on the way to her shelter, and also travels weekly to other more distant locations to feed others.

"There are so many unfortunately, I have to let them back on the street because I have no enough place in my shelter" she explains. Despite systematic spaying/neutering, new street dogs regularly appear because of unscrupulous owners....

In a few weeks' time, temperatures will drop below 0°C: Aurelia will no longer have any kibbles to distribute to all these street dogs, at the very moment when they need it the most!

2. Aurelia' s shelter is a sanctuary for dozens of elderly dogs, they need kibbles to face the cold

$$$
Rescued from the pound, Merlin was old and chronically ill. Significantly weakened in recent months, she died this summer

$$$
Weakened by a life mostly spent on the street, Josie had been taken to the shelter because she was too old to keep on living outside. She passed away this summer

Several seniors have already passed away in recent months, but Aurelia fears that the worst is yet to come: winter is the most difficult time for them to overcome, and she will soon have no more kibbles to feed them!

###
Rescued while living on the street, Maxi is 15 years old. Deaf and one-eyed, he suffers from the after-effects of his life outside, and absolutely needs kibble this winter

###
Found tied in the middle of the wood, boy is 13 years old, he will not be able to face the cold and malnutrition

###
14-year-old Mirela is already weakened. Aurelia takes as good care of herself as possible, but Mirela is not in a position to cope with malnutrition

###
Rescued from the pound, Eddy is 15 years old and suffers from heart problems that make him particularly fragile

###
Taken from the pound where she had been dumped, Girl is old and calm, food is all she absolutely needs

To date, 127 dogs are cared for by Aurelia, both in her shelter and on another site rented in addition, because she is sorely lacking space. During our visit on November 10th, we accompanied Aurelia to both places, and met all the dogs.

Many of them are over ten years old, the shelter is for many their only hope... Aurelia has witnessed the death of several of them in recent months, and fears that winter will be fatal to many in the face of a shortage of food!

"I hardly manage to collect the required monthly amount of food for my dogs. For other things needed in the shelter is even harder. I'm asking for your help because winter is coming and the dogs will eat even more so I won’t be able to cover the necessary food."

3. The kibble stock is already used up, Aurelia has been struggling for weeks to avoid the worst

For nearly a month, Aurelia has been calling for help to keep her head above water, and to prevent dogs from being left without food. But it's hanging by a thread, it will be impossible for her to maintain the shelter like this this winter

###
The food stock remaining at the time of our visit has been gone for several days already.... "Yesterday, I was without food" Aurelia told us on November 19. "one of my adopter from Germany sent me the Money and i was able to buy 26 bags of food" But from November 23rd, there will be no kibble left again....

Aurelia sees no improvement and is very anxious: "Winter is coming, and I am really worried. The help I receive does not cover the monthly food requirement. Soon it will be very cold here and the animals need much more food."

###
"Everybody asks me to save, help dogs, but there are only a few that make donations. I dedicates all my life to dogs.  Real volunteers spend almost all their time with the dogs and don’t have so much time to deal with
social media and so on, thus they can have less success with online donations."

The few bags of kibble remaining during our visit on November 10th have already been gone for several days. "Yesterday, I was without food. One of my adopter from Germany sent me the Money and i was able to buy 26 bags of food " Aurelia told us recently. A short respite, as these bags will also be used up on November 23rd....

"Everybody asks me to save, help dogs, but there are only a few that make donations. I dedicates all my life to dogs.  Real volunteers spend almost all their time with the dogs and don’t have so much time to deal with social media and so on, thus they can have less success with online donations." sums up Aurelia, who is helpless.

4. If we don't reach the target, dogs won't receive any food

A failed collection on Animal Webaction

We can take action, we have already booked a truck and pallets, but we have to pay it before November 25.

If the collection fails, we will not be able to pay, the departure of the truck will be cancelled and none of the collected kibbles will be delivered...

If the collection fails, we will refund all donors.

5. Treatments for chronic diseases, cancers, surgeries... medical care is constant, and Aurelia is already in debt

###
Discovered wandering in the street, Luke has a skin disease whose origin has not yet been discovered: despite various very expensive treatments, Luke isn't recovering

###
Rescued from the pound, Irina has already had to be treated for nodules, which until now could be managed by medication. But she now suffers from a new nodule, which does not seem to respond to treatment

###
Locked in the municipal pound, Magda was rescued by Aurelia, who saw her condition deteriorate: very weak and thin, Magda suffered from hepatitis that was not treated at the pound. A long treatment was necessary for her to get better

Recently rescued on the street, Billy had to undergo the amputation of one of his legs, too seriously damaged to be saved

"The vet debt almost never goes away, old debts get paid and new ones appear" explains Aurelia, who owes the veterinarian more than 1500 euros to date.

Aurelia already uses a large part of her own resources to provide for the dogs, and is already in debt. Under these circumstances, it is impossible for her to buy kibble for the winter.

6. Despite a court decision, the town hall refuses to pay the money it owes to the shelter!

###
Outraged by the treatment of abandoned dogs at the pound, Aurelia has been fighting againts the town hall for a while, and justice gave her reason. But the city council still refuses to pay her a penny

Many of the dogs rescued by Aurelia are survivors of the municipal pound, in which they are subjected to inhuman treatment "Dogs have no medical care and food, this is not normal. I want to change this" explains Aurelia.

In addition to her rescues, Aurelia launched a long battle against the municipality to put an end to current practices and force the mayor to commit to abandoned animals. If the justice system has proven her right, by condemning the municipality to pay money each month to the shelter, the mayor still refuses to pay the slightest penny...

7. The British association that supports Aurelia to buy kibbles is already doing its best

Very involved alongside Aurelia and her shelter, the British association K9-Angels provides her with 400kg of kibble every month, and additional help when possible. A huge amount to provide for the association, which covers only about 25% of the shelter's needs.

"We are sure that Aurelia needs this collection, as we simply do not have the funds available to provide for all the dogs she cares for at Beta's Land and in foster care. We do have a sponsorship scheme available on our website whereby people can 'sponsor food' for an individual dog, this has some take up but more would be good."

8. We want to help them

###
Found a few months ago on the edge of the forest, Christal was in critical condition, suffering from various infections, which she could not have fought without Aurelia

###
Maya suffered from dirofilariasis when she joined the shelter and had to undergo a long treatment before she could recover. She is one of the oldest dogs in the shelter

###
When she was found, Lucy was suffering from an infection in both ears, a skin disease affecting her entire body, and a broken leg, probably as a result of an accident. An amputation and several treatments were necessary to allow her to recover

###
Rescued from the pound, Taz is now 10 years old, and is one of the seniors at the shelter

###
Maddie arrived at the shelter after being rescued with her brothers and sisters. While most of them have been adopted, she and her sister Merlin (who died this summer) are the only ones who have stayed at the shelter

###
Sentenced to be put to sleep at the pound, Tobia was rescued in an emergency three years ago

9. Determined and combative, Aurelia has spent 20 years fighting for abandonned dogs

###

Involved in animal protection for 20 years, Aurelia created her association 15 years ago, and set up her shelter eight years ago.

All her personal funds were invested in the construction of the shelter, and its maintenance for many years. Today, she is the only one who cares for the dogs in the shelter: she has no employees or regular volunteers and can no longer afford to work.

Because she only rescues dogs in distress, she knows that many will end their lives at the shelter, despite the adoptions she manages to make each month. 40% of the dogs received are elderly, about 30% have behavioural problems related to past traumas, and are therefore difficult to adopt.... That is why Aurelia gives so much importance to the conditions in which dogs are welcomed at the shelter, and cannot bear the thought of no longer being able to feed them.

10. The plight of stray dogs in Romania

Aurelia' s shelter is located in the south of Romania

11. What will the 3000 kg of kibbles collected be used for ?

This collection is organized by the Viata Animalelor association. The 3000 kg collected will be delivered to Aurelia to feed the 127 dogs she cares for, as well as the stray dogs.
