1. Mira has no food left to feed the street dogs, they fight each other out of hunger!
On site on November 16, we met Bailey, who was bearing the scars of a recent fight... Because he is not big enough to fight them, the other stray dogs refuse to let him eat, Mira had to intervene urgently
Recently thrown out on the street because she was pregnant, Mama gave birth to 5 puppies only a few days before our visit... Scared by the other dogs in the pack, Mama doesn't dare to eat with them
With no shelter, it is impossible for Mira to rescue Mama and her puppies.... She does her best to keep them alive on the street, and hopes to be able to have the puppies adopted once they are weaned
Sandy is one of the last to have been rescued by Mira in early November. She was puny, small and sick, she also had many traces of bites inflicted by other dogs "She is too tiny, too small to survive alone" explained Mira, who knows however that she cannot rescue them all
Repeatedly attacked by other street dogs, Choco was very lucky to be discovered in time by Mira, following a particularly violent attack at the end of the summer, which almost killed her
"They fight a lot. Cold and hunger are really making them agressive" Mira explained to us when we came. Some packs now reach more than 30 dogs: without food, she fears that the situation will turn into a nightmare!
Every day, Mira wanders through the city to meet about a hundred street dogs who live there despite themselves, in order to feed them and provide them with a minimum of care. But her kibble stock has been gone for several weeks, even as the cold settles in, and life outside is becoming more and more difficult for them.
"As the weather gets colder the dogs need more food and become more agressive and teritorial. They fight over each other for food, places to sleep etc... dogs get bullied if they are weak" explains Mira, helpless.
With no shelter of hers, she already hosts many dogs into her home, it is impossible for her to get others off the street. She fears that the situation will worsen !
2. Considered a nuisance, stray dogs are rejected from all sides, Mira is their only hope
Old and on the street, Adam remained in agony for hours in complete indifference before Mira became involved. He died shortly after his rescue, at the clinic
Thrown out on the street and subjected to severe abuse, this poor dog weighed only 4 kg when Mira rescued him... Suffering from various internal fractures and injuries, he died at the clinic
This young dog appeared on the street only a few weeks ago, and is now part of one of the biggest packs in the city...
Because of his large size, Crni needs a lot of food, and was skeletal when Mira discovered him: only the kibbles brought by Mira have allowed him to eat enough in recent months
A shy and fearful dog, Crna is now part of a pack of dogs installed under a bridge at the end of town, and was pregnant just a few weeks ago
Slowly starving on the street, and suffering from a serious leg injury, Okce was rescued in emergency by Mira. Disabled for life following his injury, he must be kept in boarding as life on the street would be fatal to him
Abandoned outdoors, under rain and at night, Majka and her eight puppies were starving and freezing, they would not have survived without Mira's intervention, who managed to keep them safe in a shelter
Witness to the daily misery of street dogs, Mira does everything in her power to help them, but is under constant stress and shock
Faced with hunger, cold and sickness, stray dogs rarely find a helping hand out there besides Mira's: they suffer and die in general indifference.... Worse, they are considered a nuisance by many locals, who do not hesitate to poison or abuse them without any scruples.
"I feels sad when I sees more and more dogs on the streets left by their owners or born there. I would like people at least to not hurt the dogs on the street, not poison them" Mira told us when we came, while she had just rescued several very abused dogs.
3. The kibble stock has been used up for a month already, Mira can no longer get through
During our visit on November 16, we followed Mira through the city to feed the street dogs. She had only been able to get one bag of kibble....
Last July, the Animal Webaction community mobilized to send 4000 kg of kibble to Mira. But this stock ended in October, and she can't manage without help
Throughout the city, more than 100 dogs are fed daily by Mira, who has to go to 6 different places so that everyone can have their share

4. The French association that supports Mira can no longer buy kibbles either, and begs us to intervene
The Woolly Woofters association is a loyal supporter of Mira, and does its utmost to help her. But it has already financed the purchase of kibbles for almost a month, and is facing its own limits. Worried, its president asked us to intervene: "Winter is fast approaching so they need food more than ever"
From France, Linda Renton manages the Woolly Woofters association, to help animals in need around the world "We give of our time, we raise funds to pay for transport, food, treatments, spay" sums up Linda. Most of the funds collected come from the sale of creations made by the members of the association: knitted objects, paintings, and even plants of all kinds.
But the association generates little money, and supports several rescuers in different countries "Mira has officially run out. Woolly Woofters have raised funds and with a couple of donations we have sent enough to buy about 30/40 bags. Winter is fast approaching so they need food more than ever. Linda told us, begging us to help them too.
5. If we don't reach the target, dogs won't receive anything

If the collection fails, we will not be able to pay, the departure of the truck will be cancelled and none of the collected kibbles will be delivered...
If the collection fails, we will refund all donors.
6. Mira is already fighting to save the life of the most abused ones, she has no time or resources left to find kibble
Seriously injured on her leg, and suffering from a parasitic disease that is difficult to treat, Penny had to undergo an amputation and has been on treatment since the end of October
Infested with parasites, and very seriously injured following heavy abuse, Brave was only discovered very recently, and his survival was not yet guaranteed when we were writing these lines
Trying to hide while she was suffering from a serious leg injury, Willow was taken to the veterinary clinic and sheltered, as she could not have survived on the street
Joy, who was rescued recently, weighs only 6 kg and has several health problems. Examinations revealed several bullets lodged through his body, which explain his condition
Charlie was deliberately abused and suffered serious injuries to the rear end, he requires extensive medical care
"Just now I have a dog that was raped and abused Another hard to say but both are in bad condition and waiting surgeries. 3 dogs with heart worms, 2 surgeries of broken legs, one of displaced hip after car accident, one amputation also car accident. With vet bills that are growing every day it is really hard to find funds for food"
Mira already uses hundreds of euros of her own money every month, but still has growing debts everywhere....
7. Depuis 9 mois, la municipalité n'assure plus aucune stérilisation des chiens des rues, tout repose sur Mira
For nine months, the municipal pound has been shut, and no longer hosts any dog. Worse still, the spaying and neutering campaigns previously carried out by the municipality have been abandoned, with terrible consequences for the stray dog population.
"No neutering for 9 month, the number of stray animals increased terribly. Winter is coming, we have packs of the dogs in every corner. Hungry, they will start to make problems"
Feeding, spaying/neutering, treating... eveything related to stray dogs now depends on Mira, who is desperately short of resources to handle everything at once!
8. Mira left everything for the Macedonian dogs
Involved in animal welfare for years, Mira has travelled and lived in different countries, and tried to help street dogs in each of them. Based in France for several years, she was already helping in Macedonia, where she settled permanently after her husband's retirement.
Since then, she has devoted herself 100% to street dogs, trying to relieve their daily lives while waiting for the situation to change on a larger scale. "Now i live here, it seems awful i know. But if we all give up and leave what will they do? "

9. In Macedonia, stray dogs are subjected to atrocities, both from the state itself and from local people
A petition launched a few months ago to fight poisonings in Tetovo, a neighbouring city of Skopje
With an estimated population of 1 million street dogs, Macedonia regularly carries out mass extermination campaigns aimed at "cleaning the streets", at least temporarily. The last nationwide campaign in 2017 was particularly violent and led to numerous protests, including international ones. The most common method remains poisoning, which leads to slow agony (sometimes several days) for the affected dogs.
Beyond national measures, the treatment of dogs on a smaller scale also remains very harsh. Many municipalities practice poisoning on their own initiative, and the inhabitants themselves are often hostile to street dogs. Carried out with impunity, acts of cruelty perpetrated by individuals are numerous (acts of torture, strangulation, wild abandonment, etc.) and unpunished.
10. What will the 2400 kilos of kibble collected be used for?
This collection is organized by the French association Woolly Woofters, for the benefit of dogs fed by Mira in Macedonia. The 2400 kg of kibble collected will be delivered to Mira in Macedonia to feed the 100 + dogs she feeds throughout the city.
