1. In Romania, this shelter's 106 dogs are living on probation, and will run out of kibble tomorrow. They will starve to death!

"My main issue is that I don't have enough food. There are not enough resources to sustain all the dogs and the effort of taking care of them is huge. I need 50 kg of food per day to feed them all. Today I have 60 kg left. Tomorrow I will need to try and buy some more, except I don't have the money to buy more than 33 kg.

I am having more difficulties because now is the Coronavirus situation which amplifies everything and it is very hard to ask people to help me in these conditions because everyone is protecting himself. It is very difficult for me to sustain just by myself so many lives.

I'm doing everything I can with the resources I have. But if I don’t obtain food anytime soon, I am very concerned about the situation from the shelter."

2. Faced with massive abandonment, the shelter is overcrowded. Weakened by the lack of kibble and space, the dogs become sick, the weakest do not survive

"The number of dogs is increasing very fast, I have many now, another 20 saved in the last days. Now with the pandemics people are abandoning puppies and mothers. Because the number of dogs that are on the streets is very big here and I try to take in the shelter the dogs which are most vulnerable.

The food is not enough, the dogs get sick because there are no proper conditions to take care of them. Also, there are not so many cages for them to keep them safe. The mortality is increasing because some specific diseases."

3. Bodo was thrown wounded in a field, he is one of the most fragile dogs, he may not survive the kibble shortage

"Bodo was found with a bad cut on his neck, he had been thrown into a field. We rescued him but unfortunately it was very serious, he was also full of ticks that gave him Babesiosis.

His treatment lasted over 3 weeks in which he refused to eat he stayed on infusions, now I try to put him on his feet and we still support the liver and kidneys with treatment."

4. Because of the lockdown, Luminita can no longer collect leftovers from restaurants that were used to feed the dogs, and she can't buy kibble either

"The situation now is more complicated because there are a lot of restrictions in our country. I can no longer go to the restaurants to ask for food because I am isolated at home and because most of the restaurants are closed.

The situation with the food is very difficult. I am concerned that the current situation will extend, we will not be allowed to go on the streets soon and I won’t be able to ask for food at the restaurants."

Also, because there is no one I can rely on, I am not sure how the situation will be in the next month, and I am really concerned about how can I get enough food."

5. Luminita doesn't want to receive any money, just kibbles to keep the dogs from starving

"I love animals more than I love people and I would be able to do everything I can for these dogs. I have a huge love and devotion for them and every time I am struggling to offer them the best I can. From the beginning I had a lot of difficulties while struggling to get food, shelters or medication for them, but I love dogs so much and I want to do for them everything I can.

I am doing sometimes the impossible. If I had more space and food, I would like to clean all the streets from Pascani, but it is impossible for me to do this by myself.

I am a sensitive person and I cannot watch myself in the mirror when I see an animal that is suffering."

6. Animal Webaction has a logistics centre in Romania, still active despite the lockdown. We can deliver kibbles all over the country

Animal Webaction has a logistics centre directly in Romania, which is still active despite the lockdown, allowing us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Her calls for donations are not working, Luminita fears that this action will also fail

"People do no donate because they don’t have money or because they don’t love animals so much. Not so many person have this passion for animals like I do and this thing is obvious only if we are looking at the number of shelters for animals from Romania.

I am trying very hard with every ocassion I have to convince people to help me with different resources, but I don’t have success every time."

8. Actions launched on Animal Webaction often fail

11. Restrictions related to lockdown did not allow us to visit the shelter for this action

Due to the current health crisis, Romania is currently under lockdown. As the movements are drastically reduced and controlled, it was impossible for us to visit the shelter to organize this action.

However, Animal Webaction has visited Luminita's shelter many times over the last two years, including this winter. We are in close contact with Luminita (who allowed us to prepare this action), and grant her all our trust.
